Tournament Information - PLEASE READ!
Players: this tournament is a new format for all of us. 40 players are selected into each division, 8 players are block seeded into the third round of play. There is a feed-in-championship (FIC) that feeds in through the round of 16. Quarterfinal main draw will progress to semis and to a quarterfinal round for 5th and 6th place. No round is held for 7th and 8th place. All main draw singles matches, including the quarterfinal rounds, are the best of three tiebreak sets with a 10-minute rest period between second and third sets for all divisions. New balls for the third set. All FIC rounds will use a 10-point match tiebreak in lieu of the third set with a 3-minute rest period between second set and match tiebreak. During the 3-minute rest period, players may receive coaching near the court. After the coaching is complete, they may then go to the bathroom if needed. There is NO COACHING once the 3-minute break is completed. Good sportsmanship is expected. The players will be playing under The Code. There will be roving officials present. Players may ask them for help on the court if needed. Parents, spectators, and coaches are welcome to observe and encourage all players; however, they are asked not to inset themselves into any matches. Please allow the players and the officials to settle issues without interference. Any participant and spectator associated with the player agree to the rules and regulations set forth by the club and by the USTA program. Selections will be done on Friday, February 7, by the combined ranking list for that date. The SEEDING will be done by the singles SEEDING list for the same date. Johnson Ranch Racquet Club is the main site. If a satellite site is need, Gold River Racquet club will be used. All players please be checked in and ready to play as scheduled. Lateness penalties will be enforced. Losing games and loss of toss is tough, but a default at 15 minutes may be tougher. Official will be enforcing the point penalty system for infractions on court - loss of point, game, and then default. There is no warning if behavior warrants a code. For off-court issues or for withdrawals, NorCal uses the Suspension Point System. Good luck to all players. Have fun, enjoy your matches, and play well.
