Weather Update - Friday, February 28
Weather looks pretty wet today. We cannot formally cancel until noon, but it does not appear at this time that we will be able to play reasonably. Please check the site for the formal update at noon.
The schedules will need to be re-done if we do not play Friday. We are planning to use two sites on Saturday, and possibly on Sunday. Our satellite site is Natomas Racket Club, 2450 Natomas Park Drive, Natomas CA 95833. Please check your schedule to make sure at which site you will be playing and report there for your match! Rio del Oro = RIO; Natomas = NAT on draw. We will be starting later (11 AM to noon) to allow court drying and to give you some extra time to travel safely. Please bring something to do! We cannot control the weather. Patience and humor are great virtues at this juncture.
If there are any changes, these will be posted to the website. An update will be posted tonight when the new schedules are done.

Players - Please read! Format changes, weather, and scheduling issues!
Players and competitors: welcome to the Rio del Oro adult tournament! We just wish to remind everyone that we cannot control the weather! We do need the rain, but does it all have to potentially come during the tournament days? Unfortunately, rain does make for inconvenience. So please bring something to do, a bit of humor, and patience if matches are delayed.
Schedules are posted. Please check them carefully. Let us know if there is an issue immediately. If there is any rain at all, the format for the Open will change immediately to a match tiebreak in lieu of the third set to start the round. We do have extra courts at Natomas for Saturday and for Sunday morning. We may move matches there if it is reasonable to play.
Please check this site frequently for weather updates. We will try very hard to keep everyone posted. Schedules may need to be redone for a day's rain-out.
Good luck to all. We hope to see you this weekend!

Tournament Information for all players - Please read!
We will try to start ALL NTRP MATCHES ON SATURDAY, unless draw size precludes this option. Based on draw sizes and concurrent entries across divisions, some Friday afternoon/evening matches may be necessary in the Men's Open Singles and a few senior events. Otherwise most draws will begin on Saturday, March 2nd.
This is a single elimination tournament in all categories. All matches will be played at Rio del Oro. Check-in required 15 minutes prior to your match time. Players are limited to one singles, one doubles, and/or one mixed doubles event with a maximum of two events entered. If you are entering two events in DIFFERENT DIVISIONS (e.g., OPEN and NTRP), I would greatly appreciate a head's up so that your schedule is somewhat reasonable. NTRP Players who are entering two doubles (e.g. men's doubles and mixed) must enter both doubles at the same level in NTRP - the tournament will not be able to accommodate two different NTRP levels in two doubles events.
All OPEN events will play the best of three tiebreak sets. All NTRP events will use a 10-point match tiebreak in lieu of the third set. All AGE events will use a 10-point match tiebreak in lieu of the third set.
In case of withdrawal please contact the Tournament director or Referee by email only!

Concurrent Tournament Rule
A player shall not be entered at the time entries close in two or more USTA sanctioned tournaments scheduled to take place at the same time, in whole or in part, unless each Tournament Committee involved understands the situation, concurs in writing, and each agrees to accommodate the player’s schedule. The final decision rests with each tournament committee. If one tournament agrees to accept concurrent entries and accommodate the player's schedule but the concurrent tournament does not, the player may not enter both. If entries for the overlapping tournaments close on different dates, approval must be received from all Tournament Committees no later than the entry closing date that occurs last. Players who enter a tournament and play it to completion, may then enter another tournament with overlapping dates without permission. If a player violates this concurrent tournament rule ranking points earned in any concurrent tournament played will not count toward ranking or the Grand Prix Points Race and the concurrent tournaments will not count toward the minimum tournament requirement to qualify for Grand Prix.
