TOURNAMENT EVALUATIONS
We highly recommend that you complete an online evaluation of the AVAC
NTRP Doubles Classic. Annual feedback from our participants is the best
way for us to continue to improve the quality of the event for everyone
and it is how USTA NorCal tournaments are selected for Tournament of
the Year and Grand Slam status. You will need your USTA membership
number to complete the evaluation. To start the evaluation, click on
the link.

3.0 Tournament of the Year Designation (TOY 3.0):
The 3.0 divisions in this touranment have been designated as
USTA NorCal Tournament of the Year (TOY) events.. All matches in these divisions will earn points
under the Points Per Round Ranking System 1.5 times greater than the
ranking point tables, making this tournament a must-stop for all those
working towards the Grand Prix! Additionally, all non-round robin events will hold a playoff match for 3rd and 4th place.
|
Tournament Dates and Start Times:
Tournament play begins at 5:00 pm on Friday evening, May 23rd. Last
start times on Friday will be no later than 8:30 pm. Saturday, Sunday
and Monday start times will be between 8:00 am and 8:30 pm. All players
must be prepared to play at any time during the tournament when they

NTRP Rating Information:
Players may not play below their NTRP level. For example if you are a
4.0 and wish to play with a 3.0, you must play at the 4.0 level or
above. All players participating in a USTA NorCal sanctioned NTRP
tournament must have an NTRP Rating. If you do not have a rating, you
must self-rate prior to entering. Penalties will be enforced if unrated
players enter. Click on the link to go to the area of the USTA NorCal
website to learn how to self-rate.

|
Entry Limitations:
Players may enter a maximum of 2 events and entries are limited to one
doubles and one mixed doubles per person. Entries may be in two
different NTRP levels, however players entered in two different NTRP
levels will only be guaranteed a 30-minute rest period between matches.
For example, entries in the Men's 3.5 Doubles and 4.0 Mixed Doubles are
allowed, but entries in the 3.5 Men's Doubles and 4.0 Men's Doubles are
not allowed.
|
Draw Size & Format:
Draws are limited to 24 entries per event and are single elimination
format - there is no consolation - except that all losing semifinalists
in the 3.0 divisions ONLY will compete in a playoff for 3rd and 4th place. Should an event
receive 3 or 4 entries, the draw format will be a round robin instead of
single elimination. **The Tournament Committee reserves the right to
accept more than 24 entries in an event if it believes, based on the
total entries received for all events, it can reasonably accommodate the
additional matches required by exceeding this limit. If more than 24
entries in an event cannot be accommodated, the selection of teams will
be made in accordance with the USTA NorCal Adult Tournament Rules.
|
USTA NorCal Concurrent Tournament Rule:
A player shall not be entered at the time entries close in two or more USTA sanctioned tournaments scheduled to take place at the same time, in whole or in part, unless each Tournament Committee involved understands the situation, concurs in writing, and each agrees to accommodate the player’s schedule. The final decision rests with each tournament committee. If one tournament agrees to accept concurrent entries and accommodate the player's schedule but the concurrent tournament does not, the player may not enter both. If entries for the overlapping tournaments close on different dates, approval must be received from all Tournament Committees no later than the entry closing date that occurs last. Players who enter a tournament and play it to completion, may then enter another tournament with overlapping dates without permission. If a player violates this concurrent tournament rule ranking points earned in any concurrent tournament played will not count toward ranking or the Grand Prix Points Race and the concurrent tournaments will not count toward the minimum tournament requirement to qualify for Grand Prix. IF YOU DESIRE TO PLAY IN ANOTHER TOURNAMENT WITH OVERLAPPING DATES,
CONTACT ANDREA NORMAN AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AS APPROVALS, IF GIVEN, MUST
BE DONE IN WRITING PRIOR TO THE TIME ENTRIES CLOSE.
|
Match Format:
All matches will be the Best of 3 Tiebreak Sets. Regular scoring will
be used in all rounds. In sets that reach 6-games all, the standard
7-Point Set Tiebreak procedure will be followed - the Coman Tiebreak
Procedure WILL NOT be used.
|
Ball Type:
Matches will be played with three Wilson US Open Extra Duty balls. New balls will be provided if a match goes to a 3rd set.
|
Scheduling Conflicts:
The tournament will use its best efforts to schedule around your
conflicts if they are provided before entries close. Please send your
scheduling conflicts to Andrea Norman (email address is at the top of
this page). Be as specific as possible in your request. For example,
let us know the event(s) you are entering and the time by which you must
be off the court and what time you could play again later in the day.
|
Send Us Your Club Affiliation:
The tournament will use its best efforts to prevent players from the
same club from competing against each other in the first round. Please
understand that our efforts are limited by the participants who respond
to this request. In order for us to attempt to provide this service to
our entrants, we need to know your club affiliation. Prior to the entry
deadline, please send an email to Andrea Norman (email address is at
the top of this page) with your name, USTA number, name of your
partner(s), and your club affiliation(s).
|
Withdrawals Prior to Entry Deadline:

refund of your entry fee by clicking on "Withdrawal" and follow the
instructions.
|
