*** Important: About the 12 Novice Events ***
For 2013, the USTA NorCal rules define how those 12 novice events will be run:
[1] Green balls will be used: those balls with a 75% pressure are much better for younger players. The players actually do not mind the difference as it only makes the balls bounce a bit lower.
[2] Each event (girls and boys) will be run over one day (to be determined). If a group is too large, it will be broken in two independent events.
[3] The match format (for both doubles and singles) is one regular set (a set to 6 games with a 7 points tie-break at 6-6).
[4] Participation in doubles is mandatory: all players will automatically be registered in doubles AT NO EXTRA CHARGE TO YOU(unless we don't have enough players and then some will be left out).
[4] The event format will be round-robin with two groups (A and B), with playoff matches (semis and final/playoff) between the top two players in each event.
==> The actual format will be determined after we see the level of participation.
==> Please check BOTH the doubles and singles events for your matches.
Singles events are broken in two (A and B) for the initial rounds.
==> After the round-robin events, (as needed) please check with the tournament desk if you qualified for the final rounds.
