WHAT IS THE HERB C
This one-day event has been hosted by USTA NorCal for 7 years as an invitational event only. The Herb Cup is named in honor of Peter Herb, who was the Executive Director of USTA NorCal for 40 years, and his family. He was extremely creative and was responsible for many innovations in both junior and adult tennis. He introduced the concept of having different levels of play for juniors and then extended that to adult tennis.
For this event, the top eight doubles players from both boys' and girls' divisions in the 12s, 14s, 16s and 18s will be invited. The players from the 10s divisions will be invited from an internal standing list from tournament play in 2012 and will be using green level balls. Each player selects his/her doubles partner within the eight players who have been invited.
Each player will receive a NorCal 2012 Herb Cup sweatshirt and player gifts for participating in the event. Snacks and drinks will be provided throughout the event. There will also be at least one team activity. There is no entry fee for this event.

SELECTION PROCESS<
The top eight players in the 10s, 12s, 14s, 16s and 18s, from both boys' and girls' divisions, will be selected and invited after the October 2012 Doubles Final Ranking Lists, which will include doubles results from January 1, 2012 to the last tournaments that start in October of 2012. Players selected will be contacted by USTA NorCal staff. The 10s divisions will be using green level balls. Each player selects his/her doubles partner within the eight players of their age division. Players without a partner will be randomly paired up.
