THE HERB CUP
This one-day event has been hosted by USTA NorCal for 6 years as an invitational event only. The Herb Cup is named in honor of Peter Herb, who was the Executive Director of USTA NorCal for 40 years, and his family. He was extremely creative and was responsible for many innovations in both junior and adult tennis in Northern California. He introduced the concept of having different levels of play for juniors and then extended that to adult tennis.

TOURNAMENT SELECTION
For this event, the top eight players in the 10s, 12s, 14s, 16s and 18s, from both boys' and girls' divisions, will be selected and invited after the October 2011 Doubles Final Ranking Lists have been published, which will include doubles results from January 1, 2011 to the last tournament(s) that start in October of 2011. The top four participants from their perspective age group will then each choose their partner within the top eight players of that age group.
There is no entry fee for this event.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT
All draws will be a round robin format. All matches will be played for 45 minutes (8 game Pro Set). After 45 minutes, "time" will be called and all matches will be stopped. There will be a five-minute break between each rotation. The team with the least amount of games lost will be the winner, the next least amount will be the runner-up, etc. If there is a tie for first place a head-to-head will determine the winners. If there is a tie with head-to-head, a 10-Point Match Tiebreak will then determine the winners.
