2/18 - Weather Update - we are on time!
No fog or rain at this time. We are on time.
|
2/17/2012 Weather Update -
Although not totally predictable, fog or rain may occur tomorrow morning (Saturday). If no delay is posted up on the tournament webpage, players should check in on time. Please drive carefully and bring something to do. The club opens at 7 AM and the courts will be physically checked at that time.
|
Schedules for this second weekend are up now.
Please check your schedule carefully. The B18s will play the round of 32 (unfinished matches from the first weekend) as the best of three tiebreak sets. All subsequent matches will be the best of three tiebreak sets with a 10-point match tiebreak played in lieu of the third set.
All other divisions will continue play in the same format that they started with.
If players wish to play more doubles later on Saturday, all of the round must agree to stay and play.
|
Schedules for next week will be posted by Wednesday
Please check your posted results. Unfinished singles matches will play at 9 AM on Saturday. The format for all unfinished matches will be the best of three tiebreak sets. The B18s will need to change formats after completion of unfinished matches to the best of three tiebreaks sets with a 10-point match tiebreak in lieu of the third because three matches will need to be played by some of the players on Saturday. The B16s will remain the best of three tiebreak sets because the unfinished matches will not count as a match for Saturday.

Please check your draws and schedule carefully!
Please note that DOUBLES MAY BE SCHEDULED BEFORE SINGLES IN SOME INSTANCES. IF YOU ARE ENTERED IN BOTH, CHECK BOTH DRAWS!
For singles, the round of 16, quarterfinals, semis, finals/place will take place next weekend. Some doubles events will finish this weekend, but some will be carried over to next. Schedules for next weekend will be out this next Tuesday, February 14th.
If players agree and wish to play a round of doubles later on this Sunday, I will stay, but all participants in a given round must agree to stay and play.

ENTRIES ARE NOW CLOSED - please check the competitor lists!
Please check the competitor list to make sure that you are entered correctly. Let me know if there is a problem with your entry TODAY, Saturday, February 4th.
There were several of you who were entered into two divisions. I have emailed you and need a response today on what you wish to do. Remember, you must have entered singles and doubles in the same division.
If you entered doubles, please make sure you are paired with the correct person. Remember that your partner should be entered in the same division for singles and doubles if you wish to play together. If there is an error in the pairings, please email me today. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A PARTNER AND DO NOT WISH TO BE RANDOMLY PAIRED, PLEASE EMAIL ME TODAY TO REMOVE YOU FROM THE DOUBLES LIST. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO PLAY DOUBLES BUT FORGOT TO ENTER, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I WILL PUT YOU IN IF I NEED PLAYERS.
|
REMINDER - ENTRIES CLOSE TOMORROW (FRIDAY) AT MIDNIGHT
Late entrants may not be entered. Remember singles and doubles MUST be played in the same division.
Doubles - if you do not have a partner by entry closure, you are agreeing to be randomly paired with anyone left in the field who is also not paired. If there is an odd number of players, the player designated as the first alternate will be randomly drawn out of unpaired entries.

Players must play in the same division for singles and doubles!

For 10 and Under Players there will be a GREEN BALL tournament -
In conjunction with the Johnson Ranch Championships, we are pleased to host this new Green Ball tournament for 10 and Under players on Saturday, February 11. We plan to start matches at 1 PM. We should finish the initial round robins in four hours (both singles and doubles). If we need to have playoffs to determine the place winners, these will be held on the Sunday, February 12, at 1 PM. Please note that the format for this tournament is the best of three short sets with a 10-point match tiebreak played in lieu of the third set. Players must play both singles and doubles. No rannking points are awarded for Ten and Under Tennis, however, play is governed by NorCal USTA rules.
A standard court with the Quick Start green ball will be used for play. Racket size is recommend to be 26".
There will be a court monitor present to help at all times.
Awards for all finalists in addition to participation awards will be given.

Doubles Events Information -
If you and another player have agreed to play together, please sign up together for doubles as partners. You may sign up without a partner, but if you are not able to find a partner by entry closure, you will be randomly paired. Once paired, your partner is defined and no changes will be made. It is your responsibility to find a partner or withdraw from doubles before entries close if you do not wish to play with anyone left in the field. Respectful behavior is expected of all participants. NO EXCUSES ACCEPTED once entries close.
If there is an odd number of players left in the field and if I cannot find someone to play, the tournament committee will randomly draw the person who will be the first alternate from all unpaired players left.
PLEASE DO NOT LIST SOMEONE AS YOUR PARTNER IF HE/SHE HAS NOT AGREED TO PLAY WITH YOU!
Late entrants to doubles may not be added. Timely entrants will take precedence in pairing if they are without a partner.

Information for Players:
BG12s will play the best of two tiebreak sets with a 10-point match tiebreak in lieu of a third set for singles and an 8-game proset for doubles. All other divisions will play the best of three tiebreak sets for singles and an 8-game proset for doubles. Entry fees for singles and doubles are separate fees. Please sign-up for doubles with a partner if you can. If you would like to play doubles but do not have a partner, please let the referee know and she will do what she can to find someone but partners are not guaranteed.
There is no coaching except for the rest periods between second and third sets or 10-point match tiebreak. All bathroom breaks should be taken on set breaks when possible.
For the BG12s, a bathroom break may be taken after the three-minute coaching period between second and third set Match Tiebreak, but an official should be notified before you leave the court. If a bathroom break is taken before coaching, the player forfeits the coaching time regardless. Coaching for the three-minute rest period should be done just off-court or at the back fence. Please do not disturb play on other courts!
Lateness penalties will apply. Please check-in ready for play by your scheduled time.
No refunds are required after February 5. Please do not enter unless you intend to play. You may withdraw on line until entries close for a refund of the tournament fee and no penalties. If you withdraw after entries close, you may be subject to NorCal suspension points for withdrawing regardless of reason.
