The USTA sanctions four (4) zonal championships for 12-and-under boys and girls, held in late July each year. These zonals provide an opportunity to play against players outside the Section and earn National ranking Level 2 points and New England section ranking points. They also provide a great opportunity for lots of fun, competitive experience and development of physical, mental and emotional skills. New England is in the Northeast Zone and will send a team of twelve (12) boys and twelve (12) girls and two (2) team coaches to this year’s event to be held on hard courts at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center, St. Louis, MO.

Each team match will be a collegiate format six (6) boys singles, six (6) girls singles, three (3) boys doubles, three (3) girls doubles. Match-play begins on Wednesday July 27th and ends Sunday July 31st. Players should plan to arrive on Tuesday July 26th and must commit to the entire schedule.

Registering for this event does not mean that you will automatically be selected. Participation on this team requires Section endorsement. Selection will be based on the most current combined standings list. In 2010 the last player selected was #23 for Girls and #16 for Boys. Tournaments through June 30, 2011 will be included in the computation of the list that will be used for selection. Players must be in good standing with the New England junior Sportsmanship committee in order to be selected. Team selection, including alternates, will be posted on the USTA New England junior web page by July 1, 2011. (Click on Section Teams>Teams Selected.) Alternates do not travel to the event.

To be considered for team or alternate selection players must: (1) complete the USTA TENNISLINK registration process online by the June 12th registration deadline. (2) Submit a completed USTA RELEASE FORM and a completed USTA New England RELEASE FORM by June 12, 2011 by fax (508-366-5805) by email (zeutas-broer@newengland.usta.com) or by mail (postmarked by June 12, 2011). IF YOU ARE NOT SELECTED YOUR CREDIT CARD WILL NOT BE CHARGED.

Tournament Entry Fee $85, Team Uniform Fee $50, Coaching Fee $50. If you are not selected, your credit card will NOT be charged. All players not selected will remain as alternates. If an alternate is selected due to a withdrawal they will be contacted and will be required to submit a check to the Section office for the above fees. If a player wants to be removed from the alternate list they may do so by contacting David Zeutas-Broer, Player Development Manager, at the Section office.

Players are responsible for their travel and meal expenses and hotel accommodations. Once selected players will receive information about hotel rooms available at preferred rates. If a player’s parent or guardian is unable to attend then that player must have another player’s parent assume responsibility for them for the duration of the event.

The USTA New England Section will assign and send two (2) coaches to the event. These coaches may coach players at specific times during matches and will supervise teams at official team events. Players’ personal coaches and parents are NOT permitted to coach during this event.

All players selected are expected to attend the team practice with the team coaches on Sunday July 24th, 1:00 - 5:00 pm. Location - Conard High School, West Hartford, CT (There is no charge)
