RAIN DELAY: NEW SCHEDULE
Attention, due to the rain, a new schedule for matches being played on the Oak Hollow clay courts will be made. All other sites and times will stay the same. Please check the draws before coming tomorrow (Sunday). If you see no changes to your draw, then no changes were made.
|
INCLEMENT WEATHER:
Once the tournament begins, the main tournament number will be: 336-883-3493. There is a chance that we may get some late day storms. First and foremost, BE SAFE. If we see any lightning, play will be suspended and all players, parents, spectators and tournament officials are to seek appropriate cover.
Your site director and umpire will inform you as to what we will be doing. Keep in mind we have 4 indoor courts and our clay courts drain well, usually between 90 minutes to 2 hours after a heavy rain.
It appears that the temperatures will be in the low 90's. HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE. There will be plenty of water and shade all around. Most of the courts will not have on court seating, so it's a good idea to bring your foldable chairs with you.
Good Luck to All

JUNIOR SUSPENSION POINTS FOR FAILURE TO COMPLETE A TOURNAMENT:
The number of players not completing all matches in a tournament is very high. There are numerous withdrawals once the draws are posted, and many walkovers in the consolations. Penalty points are imposed for failure to complete a tournament. Failure to play a match is unfair and costly to opponents, & unsportsmanlike. Because the NCTA realizes the importance of school to the players a school exempt clause is included. (Revised 10/10)
1. After the tournament online deadline, failure for a JUNIOR player to complete a tournament for ANY reason other than retirement during a match due to injury/illness = 1 Point
2. Any withdrawal after the tournament online registration deadline receives points.
1 point for main draw & 1 point for consolation = 2 points
3. Default No Show , Default Adult Discipline, & Default Refusal to Play points will remain 5 points
4. Points are cumulative in the Junior Suspension points system
5. A letter will be sent when a player receives 6 points.
6. A 3 month suspension will occur when 10 points are received
• Appeals at 10 points can be made to the grievance chairperson
7. To be exempt from the above, a player must notify the TD immediately at the conclusion of
his/her Sunday play that they will be attending school on Monday so will not be participating in
play Monday. TD will e-mail jane@nctennis.com those players who have requested this
exemption. Names to be sent Sunday night.
? If a player withdraws or has a walkover because of injury or illness, the player shall send written verification of the injury or illness from a medical professional to jane@nctennis.com no later than 5 days after the last scheduled day of the tournament. Upon receipt & verification, the points will be removed. The verifications of illness/ injury will be kept on file in the NCTA office.
Although the point penalties imposed are minor, they are imposed to stress that the failure to complete a tournament for an unexcused reason is unacceptable.
|
RULE CHANGES:
There will be a rest period of 3 minutes between the 2nd set and 3rd set tiebreaker with coaching allowed.
If a player decides to change his call, the player will lose the point.
