Email addresses/ Cell numbers
We do not have email addresses or cell numbers for many of you, making it difficult to contact you in case a time changes or an opponent withdraws. Once the tournament starts, having a cell number will be more useful than your home number, if you have one. If you would like to be contacted in case your match time changes, please email me your cell number and I will put it in our tournament file. Thank you. Email to puajohnson@aol.com

Seeding
Seeding includes but is not limited to all available data, starting with the USTA National standings and rankings, then factoring in local players who may have beaten seeded players, success in this tournament in previous years, and results of USTA and ITF events in the last 12 months. You might not have a USTA ranking, and still be seeded. You might have an ITF ranking, and not be seeded. In the end, the best player on a given day should win each event. To answer several emails: when an event uses a Round Robin format, no one is seeded. That was a good question. We did not forget to seed those events.

Scheduling
The referee received 57 requests for special scheduling. While it is wonderful to know that you are all special, it made the act of scheduling a little nightmare. With some players entered in 2 singles, some in 2 doubles, some requesting not to start play until Thursday when the tournament begins Tuesday, not to play until traffic thins out along their route, not to play until after noon because they have difficulty waking up (I made that one up), and various other reasonable requests, the result was an unusual schedule in some draws, to say the least. Variances from the norm, including a few players skipping one day of play, and some matches in the same round playing on different days should be viewed as the result of a request, not the insanity of the referee.

Scheduling, part 2
The computer program is set to presume that everyone is going to win every match, so it refuses to schedule many later round matches given our varied population requests and the limited number (6) of courts. By the third round, the program gave me error messages that no time would work for some matches, so I scheduled those by hand, knowing that both players could not win every match, and that one of them would go away. Especially for those playing in two events, if it evolves that your matches are too close to each other in time, when we get to them we will make adjustments. As it is, all 6 courts are scheduled to be in use from 8 AM to 6 PM, with one or two courts going until 8 PM. Believe me, if I could have avoided being on court for 12 hours, I would have! Thank you for your patience with this.
