All Players report to Tucson Raquet club at 2:45 pm. We will resume play at 3:00pm . We have 30 courts and will try to get out as many matches as quickly as possible to catch up. Tucson racquet club is at Prince and Country Club road.

On Site Alternates
We will be accepting on site alternates. If you would like to be an on-site alternate please register on 1 Jan from 9am -6pm at the Hilton El Conquistador. On site alternates will be ordered iaw the official alternate list. You will then go to the site on 2 Jan to wait for no shows.

Meet the University of Arizona Tennis Coaches!
College Tennis Showcase Presentation: The University of Arizona tennis coaching staff will be presenting a seminar on Tues, 1 Jan. Women’s head coach Vicky Maes and assistant coach Brian Ramirez will cover numerous topics on college tennis including: myths in college tennis recruiting, how to enhance a player’s attractiveness to a college program, and what to expect from the college tennis experience. This is an invaluable chance to get all your questions about college tennis answered by coaches with first hand experience. Seminar will be conducted in the Hilton's Presidio Ballroom at 6:30pm on Tues 1 January immediately following the Laurel Springs school distance learning presentation at 5:30pm. All Copper Bowl parents and players are invited to attend.

12-21-07 Education Night Seminar: Laurel Springs
Laurel Springs school founder Marilyn Mosely will be presenting on Tues, 1 Jan. Her seminar will discuss the benefits and opportunities available for quality distance learning. This seminar will be particularly applicable to parents and players trying to balance quality college prepratory education with the heavy travel schedules demanded by the highest levels of junior tennis. Seminar will begin at 5:30pm in the Hilton's Presidio Ballroom. Hors d'oeuvres will be served. All Copper Bowl parents and players are encouraged to attend right after registration and to stay for presentation by U of A coaching staff immediately following.

12-02-07 ATTENTION PLAYERS: USTA Release Form
All players must have a signed release form to play in the Copper Bowl. If your parent / guardian will not be at registration day please print a release form off our website and have it signed. You may fax the form to us or bring it to registration. NO ONE will be allowed to play a match without a signed release on file.

Doubles Entries
Doubles will begin on 3 January. Players may now enter doubles in TDM without a partner and will be paired randomly. Players may only enter doubles in the age group in which they are playing singles due to proximity of playing sites. Please Do Not sign up for doubles in a different age division than singles. Although TDM will allow this it will cause you to be withdrawn from doubles when draws are made and may prevent you from getting into the correct doubles draw.

Training Camp
The COPPER BOWL TRAINING CAMP is held at Tucson Racquet Club December 28, 29, 30, 31, 2007 & Jan 1, 2008. The Copper Bowl Camp is designed as a competitive hitting session with players entered in the tournament. Players are grouped by age divisions and will hit with each other under the supervision of teaching pros. The drills are competitive, player/player routines. Laurel Springs School noted for its exceptional distance learning programs for K-12 will be at registration. Information on homeschooling and college placement will be available from this Western Association of Schools and Colleges accredited school. Dr. Jorge Valverde
Dr. Jorge Valverde, a renowned psychologist who has developed a specialized system to train the minds of tennis players in a positive and effective way, will be providing 20-minute free consultations (compliments of the Tournament) for players, parents and coaches. In addition, Dr. Valverde will be giving two different presentations on January 2nd and 3rd, from 7:00-8:30 PM at the Hilton El Conquistador Resort -- El Presidio Seminar Room. This are excellent opportunities for players who want to develop mental toughness.
Dr. Valverde graduated from the University of Kansas with a Doctoral dissertation research on the mental preparation of highly ranked tennis players. He has served as sport psychologist for numerous tennis academies and universities throughout the US, Mexico, Poland and South America. He has also worked with many elite players such as Luke Jensen, French Open Doubles Champion, 1993; Anna Lenna Groenefeld, number one junior player in the world in 2003 and ranked as high as 14 in the WTA; Meghann Shaughnessy, ranked as high as 11 in the WTA, Timothy Neillly, Orange Bowl Boys’ 18s Champion, Tim Smyczek, singles Semi Finalist at Wimbledon 2005, Kim Couts, 2006 Girls 18s Easter Bowl Champion, Gabriel Flores, 2006 Boy’s 14 Winter National Finalist, Ashley Weinhold, 2007 Girls18’s Super National Hard Court Champion and Stephanie Vidov, World Junior Tennis Champion, 2007.

The NSL used for selection into this event will be published on
11/28/07 and will be a singles only ranking. The NSL used for
seeding will be the singles ranking published on 12/19/07. The
first official combined ranking NSL comes out on 1/2/08. The Copper
Bowl is a Level III tournament on the National Junior Schedule held
in Tucson, AZ. There will be a playoff for 3rd/ 4th place in all
events held on 1/7/08 along with the finals.
Players are selected manually by the tournament director after the close of registration.
Entry to this tournament is open to all USTA members, however, acceptance to the events is by Tournament Director selection only. Only USTA members can register online if available.
