Athletic Trainer For the majority of the hours of play, we will
have a certified Athletic Trainer on site to assist you. Please
check at the desk when you arrive to see what hours he is available
on the day of your match(es). Tentative schedule is 10am to 3pm
daily.
Westlake Athletic Club also offers access to yoga classes, pool,
spa and workout facility.
Withdrawals from Tournament Please send any withdrawals to
Tournament Director Calle Hansen at hasse122@hotmail.com You may
also call to 818.239.6961. This includes Main Draw and Consolation
matches. As a courtesy to other players, if you know you will not
be playing the consolation let the desk know as soon as
possible.
Tournament Check-in Our hospitality desk will be open for the
tournament check-in on Sunday afternoon, May 31 from 9:00am to
6:00pm. Courts will be available at the club for practice. We will
have your Player Goodie Bag, tournament shirt, player information
sheets, and doubles registration for those who still do not have a
partner.
Prize Money for Singles and Doubles
$1,500 total prize money! (Based on draw size.) There will be prize
money for 1st and Second place in both singles and doubles.
Tournament Stringing
An on-site stringer will be available all week. Labor is only
$15/racket (with your own string). We also have a variety of
choices for those who need full-service stringing during the
tournament. Overnight stringing will be available for the
players.
Consolation Singles and Doubles
A feed-in consolation is automatic in singles, and all players will
be expected to play either later on the day they lose, or the next
day in the consolation. Singles consolation will use a 10-point
Match Tiebreak in lieu of 3rd sets if it turns out that there will
be two matches in one day as we do anticipate some warm days at
this time in June. Doubles consolation will be for first-match
losers only. However, we require teams to notify the tournament
desk at the end of their first match if they intend to return the
next day for the doubles consolation. A separate draw will be
created for those doubles teams who chose to play - and it will be
played to completion in single elimination format.
Tournament Formats
As in all USTA National Championships, we will offer Main Draws
played to completion with a 3rd/4th playoff. There will be a
feed-in consolation for those losing main draw matches through the
quarter-finals. There will be an optional doubles consolation for
the first-round losers -- those who wish to play must sign up after
their first round match is complete. All matches will be best of
three tiebreak sets in the Main Draw and feed-in consolation,
unless we have large enough draws to require more than one singles
match per day. If so, we will use the Match Tiebreak in consolation
division.
Housing Available
For those who would like private housing in the area, it is
available on an as-available basis. Members have graciously offered
their guest rooms, but are not obligated to provide meals or
transportation, so be sure to rent a car if you fly out here. To
request housing, contact Calle Hansen via email at
chansen@caclubs.com
Practice Sites
There are many places to warm up nearby on your way to the club, as
we can not guarantee a practice court on-site during the event.
However, if there are courts open, players are always welcome to
hop on out there and hit prior to their match. Closest other site
to WAC is Triunfo Canyon Park - Go northwest approx. 2 miles on
Triunfo Canyon Road from WAC. Turn left at the stop light on
Tamarack St. Entrance to park is on the left with parking for
tennis courts.
Time Conflicts
We prefer that players who enter are prepared to play at any time
during the day or evening (until 9 pm if necessary). We do
understand that many of you are working and wish to get in at least
a half-day of work. If possible, we will do our best to put matches
late in the day for those who let us know in advance of their
possible time conflicts. If you can not play without the time
consideration, please let us know and we will not put you into the
draw unless we can make that adjustment to your match times. Please
make your request in writing via email to the tournament director
prior to May 19th (hasse122@hotmail.com).
Refund Deadline Sunday, May 24th
For those who may need to withdraw for any reason - injury,
illness, or time conflict -- please realize that there will be no
refunds after May 24th, the online deadline for registration. We
will immediately be seeding and making draws so your name will
appear if you do not withdraw online. Thank you.
