AUSTIN JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP MAJOR ZONE (CMZ)

With much regret, we are cancelling the Austin Champ Major Zone for 2011. We wish you safe travels home and a brighter Champ tourney in January 2012.

Due to continued rain at ALL SITES, the rain delay is extended to 2:00 p.m. I will continue to closely monitor weather conditions at each site and provide updates accordingly.
In addition, I've asked my UT Whitaker site directors to take the tournament give-a-way (Head/Penn racket grip (3 to a package)) to UT Whitaker. They will be on site by 12:30 p.m. for those of your interested in picking up your grip. You will need to go into the pro shop to do so. They will remain on site until we either play or cancel the tourney altogether.

As the forecast for tomorrow looks grim, I will once again make an early run to all 6 tourney sites and provide an update no later than 7:00 a.m. on this tournament homepage, via TWITTER, and update CATA's voice mail message as well.

Due to the numerous weather challenges this tournament faced, there will be no consolation draws offered. We will however do the very best we can to complete all or as many main draw matches as possible in the allotted time we have sites and courts for play.

I regret to inform all our tournament players, participant, and coaches that we are not going to beat the weather today. Courts just do not dry in this high humidity. I will post a note to this homepage with an update for your site and anticipated match times tonight. Please check this website later this evening for details.

For those of you with 8:00 a.m. matches tomorrow: The tournament director and referee will make every effort to drive to all sites in the early a.m. to determine court conditions. This is done in an effort to prevent you from having to leave the comfort of your home or hotel and drive to your sites needlessly. I will try to have an update on the website, twitter, and on the phones at CATA no later than 7:00 a.m. and earlier if possible. The tounament is using 3 sites of similar names and site abbreviations and are sometimes confused causing first round defaults. Please be SURE you are reading the correct site on your draw and not mistaking it for one of the other two similarly named sites. The sites most confused are: Austin Tennis ACADEMY, Austin Tennis CENTER, and SOUTH AUSTIN Tennis CENTER. They are all in different parts of the city and will cause a first round default if you go to the wrong one for your match.

Rain regretfully is now in the weekend forecast for our CHAMP MAJOR ZONE tourney. This information will help you in the event it does occur. I routinely (every 45 minutes to 1 hour) update this website with details about rain delays, and when play is anticipated to resume at each site. If you do not have internet access readily available to you, your hotels generally do in their business centers. Please use their internet services to access our tournament homepage to look for answers with regard to rain delays. This will help you know when to return to your site for match play and help the tournament run more smoothly by reducing unnecessary phone calls. You may also call the CATA office for updates at 512 443-1342. Our office voice mail will have updates for you as well. However, this is more difficult to stay on top of so your most up-to-date info can be found by using our tourney homepage.

Parents and Players Many entrants do not have telephone numbers or email addresses associated with our tournament entry software. For this reason, please re-check your draw and match times frequently up to tournament start. The tournament will continue to publish withdrawals and your first-round match times may change.

TO ALL TOURNAMENT PLAYERS: We do have several sites that do not provide water on the courts therefore, you will want to come fully prepared with food, drink, ice, towels, and change of clothes for your matches so that you can play within your comfort zone.
Also, remember to turn OFF ALL electronic devices (cell phones etc) before entering the courts for play.
