LITTLE MO
The Maureen Connolly Brinker Tennis Foundation created the “Little Mo” tennis tournament over forty years ago for the Texas section and it was named after Maureen Connolly, the first woman to win the Grand Slam.
The “Little Mo” continues to be very successful in Texas, and in 1998, we decided to expand the event to a national level. We feel there is a real need to provide an opportunity for the younger junior player to compete against players who are of the same age at the sectional, regional, and national level. The “Road to the Nationals” enables youngsters to play other from across the nation. Your sectional “Little Mo” will lead to a Regional “Little Mo” in the summer and then finally, the “Little Mo” Nationals in the fall.
There is a “Little Mo” tournament in each of the 17 sections for boys and girls 8, 9, 10, and 11 & under divisions in the spring. The sectional quarterfinalists (8) from each age division will advance to the Regionals.
There will be four cities hosting a Regional tournament in the summer: Bradenton, Florida (East) Dallas, Texas (South) San Francisco, California (West) and Homewood, Illinois (North).
Upon the completion of the four Regional tournaments, the semifinalists from each age division will advance to the “Little Mo” Nationals. The Nationals will have a prestigious draw of 16 in each age division and the winner of each division will be crowned “Little Mo” National Champion. The Nationals are scheduled in October at the Austin Tennis Academy in Austin, Texas.
