Doubles Registration:
Please email your doubles team to emduma@kzooymca.org. Once selections are made, please disregard the email about not getting into doubles. Everyone was sent that email. Please email the doubles teams to put them in the draw. Even if you signed up for doubles on tennslink please email me. If you do not have a doubles partner yet, players can sign a sheet to find a parter at check in on Friday. Players are not paired up by the director. Teams will be taken up till 7pm on Friday June 25th.

USTA/Midwest Section Player/Parent Meeting:
This meeting is for all parents, players and coaches in the tournament. USTA/Midwest Section Director of Junior Tennis, Andrea Calvert-Sanders will present on important issues in junior tennis in the USTA/Midwest Section. The meeting will be held Friday, June 25, 2010 at 6:15 pm at YMCA-Maple Street. Additional information and site location will be provided at the Mandatory Player Registration.

Midwest Level 1/ National Level 2
For ranking Purposes, this is a USTA/Midwest Level 1 and a National
level 2 tournament.
Draw Size/FIC Consolation/Scoring
For this singles, draw size will be 128 players with a full feed-in
consolation thru the quarterfinals. Doubles will have no
consolation draw. Players may play up to 2 single matches and 2
doubles matches in one day. Main draw will play one match a day for
singles until Wednesday where the quarterfinals and semifinals are
played. The FIC consolation will play one round Sunday then two
rounds each day including Thursday. The Finals are not played out.
SCORING FORMAT - Matches will consist of a full two out of three
sets tiebreak sets (with a set tiebreak at six games all) for both
singles and doubles. Advantage scoring will be used for all
matches.
START TIMES
Times will be given at check in Friday, June 25th. They will NOT be
given out earlier. The match times will be in the players' packets
on their white match card.
CHECK-IN
Check - in will be on Friday, June 25th from 3:30-6pm. This is held
at the Maple Street YMCA (1001 W. Maple Kalamazoo, MI 49008). This
is MANADATORY. All players must be checked in.

Western Michigan University (Dormitory Rd, Kzoo, MI 49008): WMU
Upper, WMU Lower Kalamazoo College (Corner of Acker Lane &
Academy St. Kzoo, MI 49009): Stowe Kalamazoo Central High School
(2431 N. Drake, Kzoo, MI 49006): K Central Portage Central High
School (8135 S. Westnedge Ave, Portage, MI 49002): P Central
Mattawan High School (56720 Murray St. Mattawan, MI 49701): MHS
Portage Northern High School (1000 Idaho Ave. Portage, MI 49024): P
Northern Vicksburg High School (501 E. Highway Street Vicksburg, MI
49097): Vicks. Saturday and Sunday using all sites listed. Monday
using all sites except Vicksburg. Tuesday these sites will be used:
WMU (upper and lower), Stowe, K Central, P Central. Wednesday these
sites will be used: WMU (upper and lower), K Central. WMU will only
be used on Thursday.
QUALIFYING/HOW THE TOURNAMENT WORKS
Each district in the Midwest has a qualifying tournament. Each
player has to play in their district qualifier event in order to
play in the Midwest Closed. Each district has quota spots that
reserve a certain number in the draw for that district. The quota
spots are determined by junior membership in the district. The
district decides how their quota spots are to be filled.
PLAYER SELECTION & ALTERNATES
Player Selection (Competitors/Players By Event) and Numbered
Alternate Listing will be posted on this tournament page by 6pm on
the Monday following the tournament entry deadline. The alternate
list will be posted in numerical order at the top above the level
of the tournament. The alternates that are not numbered were not
endorsed by their districts and have NO chance of getting into the
singles draw. They can not be onsite alternates.
ORDER OF PLAY
Saturday: Play begins at 8 a.m. One round of singles is played
followed by two rounds of doubles. Sunday: Play begins at 8 a.m.
Main Draw and FIC Consolation will play one round. Doubles will
play one round. (Three rounds of doubles has to be played by the
end of the day Sunday, so either two rounds are played on Saturday
or Sunday.) Monday: Play begins at 8 a.m. 3rd round of the Main
Draw will play. 2nd Round and 3rd Round Qualifier matches will play
in the FIC Consolation. Quarterfinals of the Main Draw in Doubles
will play. Tuesday: Play begins at 8am. 3rd Round and 4th Round
Qualifier matches will play in the FIC Consolation. Round of 16 in
the Main Draw will play. Semifinal Round in the Doubles will play.
Wednesday: Play begins at 8am. 4th Round and Quarterfinal Qualifier
Round will play in the FIC Consolation. Quarterfinals and
Semifinals will play in the Main Draw. Finals in the Doubles will
play. Thursday: Play begins at 8am. Quarterfinals and Semifinals
are played in the FIC Consolation. Finals and � playoff are played
in the Main Draw.
2010 USTA/MIDWEST SEEDING AND SELECTION
CRITERIA
All USTA/Midwest Sectional and Designated Tournaments will adhere
to the following Seeding and Selection Criteria as set by the
USTA/Midwest Section Junior Competition Committee. Players will be
selected based on the most current USTA/Midwest Section Standing
List that was published on Monday, June 21st.
USTA/MIDWEST SECTION DOMICILE RULES:
The USTA/Midwest Section Closed Junior Championships, the district
qualifiers, the USTA/Midwest Section Designated Tournaments,
USTA/MIDWEST Indoor Fall Closed/Indoor Opens and USTA/Midwest
Section Junior Davis & Wightman Cup events are open to citizens
of the U.S. permanent resident aliens in possession of a valid
alien registration card, individuals who are applicants for
adjustment to lawful permanent resident status and who can present
a USCIS receipt for a pending unadjudicated form I-485, aliens who
have resided continuously in the US for more than one year and who
are members of families of persons in the diplomatic or consular
corps and aliens who have been granted Refugee Status, Asylee
Status or Temporary Protected Status.
Nike Tour Information
The Nike Junior Tour (NJT) is a worldwide series of junior singles
tournaments for Boys and Girls in the 12 and 14 age groups. There
are currently 28 countries participating in the NJT, representing
over 60,000 players. Former NJT International Masters participants
include Rafal Nadal, Juan Martin Del Potro and Tomas Berdych. The
winner(s) of this event will be invited to compete at the NJT USA
National Masters, September 18-20, 2009 at Stanford University CA.
The NJT USA National Masters is a Level II USTA National event.
Nike provides round trip transportation, food and lodging for the
winner(s) (B14, B12, G14, G12) plus one team coach. The NJT USA
National Masters winners advance to play in the NJT International
Masters in October in the Dominican Republic. Expenses for the
International Masters are paid for by Nike. If you have not already
seen it, the Tennis Channel is airing the Nike Junior Tour
International Masters. The show captures what a really special
event the NJT International Masters is. Nike will be getting DVD's
of the show. This year the NJT National Masters will be a level II
USTA National event. So now not only do the qualifiers get a free
trip to Stanford and a chance to go on to the International
Masters, but everyone who attends has a chance to pick up level II
National ranking points
USTA/MIDWEST SECTION SUSPENSION POINT SYSTEM &
SIGNING UP FOR TWO TOURNAMENTS
Signing up for two events: The USTA Code of Conduct and Suspension
Point System is in effect. You are expected to play the entire
event as scheduled. The USTA/Midwest Section Junior Competition
Committee has adopted a new Suspension Point System. All players
will be given five (5) suspension points for entering two or more
tournaments that take place at the same time, in whole or in part,
unless each Tournament Committee involved agrees with the multiple
entries in writing via e-mail. This applies to all players who
signed up for the tournament including alternates.
DRESS CODE
Proper tennis attire must be worn during all tennis matches.
DRAWS
Draws will be given in the player packets at check-in on Friday,
June 25th.
NO REFUNDS AFTER PLAYER SELECTION IS
COMPLETE.
AGE ELIGIBILITY
AGE ELIGIBILITY: NJT USA play leads to the NJT International
Masters where 28 countries participate. Therefore, to be eligible
for the NJT USA National Masters and the NJT International Masters,
players must meet the ITF (International Tennis Federation) age
eligibility cutoff date of December 31st. Example: If you are
currently 12, but will turn 13 on or before December 31, 2009, you
may play in the Section Championship in the 12's but WOULD NOT BE
ELIGIBLE to compete in the 12's at the NJT National Masters at
Stanford or the International Masters. Players should consider the
ITF age eligibility to determine which age group to enter if they
want to be eligible to go on to the NJT USA National Masters or
International Masters.
