WELCOME

Welcome to the Rising Stars Tournament hosted by the Sumter Tennis Association and sponsored by OUTDOOR APPEARANCE. It will be held at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter.

TOURNAMENT PURPOSE:

Rising Stars tournaments are for novice tennis players and are designed to introduce players to competitive tennis. The emphasis is on match play, fun, and good sportsmanship. Players must be able to serve and keep score.

MANDATORY MEETING:

All players and parents are to be at the Palmetto Tennis Center for a mandatory, but brief players/parents meeting at 8:30am at the picnic shelter. We recommend that you arrive at the tennis center NO LATER than 8:15 am so that you will have time to check-in and get your tournament t-shirt. Check-in will be inside the PTC Pro Shop.

MATCH FORMATS:

This is a one-day event. There will be multiple matches in a round robin format, by age groups. The referee reserves the right to determine the number of games played. Singles will be played in the morning with a break for lunch, and doubles will be played afterwards for those that wish to participate. AWARDS:

Awards will be presented to all finalists in each age division.

AMENITIES:

All entrants will receive a tournament t-shirt. Water & Gatorade will be provided, with some light snacks. Our sponsor, OUTDOOR APPEARANCE, will grill hot dogs for all the players for lunch.

USTA RULES:

USTA Rules will be in effect.

INCLEMENT WEATHER:

In case of inclement weather, in which case there is a total rain-out on Saturday, the tournament will be played on Sunday, July 26, at 1:30pm. All efforts, however, will be made to have all matches played on Saturday, July 25.

If you enter this tournament and are not eligible, any refund is as the discretion of the Tournament Director. Only USTA members can register online if available.
