Mon 10:45pm - due to some very late match conclusions, the start times of some 9:30am FIC matches, have been pushed back. Please double check your updated draw sheets.

WEATHER UPDATE

THE RAIN IS GONE. ALL MATCHES ARE BACK OUTSIDE AT THEIR ORIGINALLY SCHEDULED SITES AT THE REVISED START TIMES

SINGLES MATCHES HAVE BEEN DELAYED AS FOLLOW: GBN - All 9:30am matches report to Glenbrook Racquet Club by 11:00am.
All 11:00am matches report to Glenbrook Racquet Club at 12 noon.

GBS - All doubles matches are being finished at Glenbrook Racquet Club.
All Singles matches are on a weather delay until 11:30am. 9:30am matches should report to Glenbrook South at 11:30am. All 11:00am matches should report to GBS at 12:30pm.

HPHS - matches are on schedule. Doubles have been played. 9:30am matches are on court.

MATCH TIME UPDATE

Due to the last minute withdrawal of several seeds, SOME PLAYERS first match times have changed. PLEASE CHECK THE MOST RECENT FIRST MATCH TIMES report. The most current report also contains the doubles match times and locations.

ROAD CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

ITS CHICAGO, ITS SUMMER, ITS EVERYWHERE Road construction is about to begin around the tournament sites. Willow Road between Landwehr and Waukegan is being repaved beginning July 31. Techny Road is a wonderful alternative to Willow Road. Waukegan Road has had ongoing construction from Willow to Lake Cook. Expect delays. PLEASE ALLOW EXTRA TIME TO GET TO YOUR SITES!!

ROAD CONSTRUCTION UPDATE #2

More construction around Highland Park High School! The front entrance to Highland Park High School is closed due to construction. When coming to the school from Vine Street, proceed around the back of the school on St. Johns Aev (heading North). Turn left into the second entrance to the parking lot. Courts will be straight ahead to the right of the school.

USTA RELEASE FORM

All competitors must turn in USTA release signed by parent or guardian PRIOR to stepping on the court. The waiver is attached. We will also email a copy to all participants who included a valid email address when registering for this tournament. We cannot be responsible if you did not include an email address. more info

SITES

GLENBROOK SOUTH HIGH SCHOOL (GBS), located at 4000 W. Lake Ave, Glenview is our host site.

Additional sites are GLENBROOK NORTH HIGH SCHOOL (GBN) at 2300 Shermer Rd, Northbrook and HIGHLAND PARK HIGH SCHOOL (HPHS) at 433 Vine, Highland Park.

ALTERNATES

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR ALTERNATES:
A NUMBERED ALTERNATE LIST WILL BE POSTED BY 4:00PM THURSDAY, JULY 16, 2009. Alternates were selected according to the USTA NATIONAL TOURNAMENT SELECTION PROCESS.

WE HAVE ALREADY HAD WITHDRAWALS FROM THIS TOURNAMENT.

As spots open in the main draw, we will contact the next alternated on the list. Once accepted into the tournament, the alternate is to e-mail the director within 8 hours to accept his place in the main draw and to provide payment information. ALternate status will be updated regularly, as movement occurs.

Alternates are encouraged to sign-up for the qualifier tournament which awards four spots into the main draw of the singles draw. Midwest Open Alternates will NOT automatically be placed into the qualifier tournament. More information under the QUALIFIER section.

QUALIFIER

Glenbrook Racquet Club is hosting a non-sanctioned Qualifier Event on Sat-Sun, August 1-2. The four semifinalists of this event will earn spots into the Main Draw of the B16 Midwest Open. No USTA points are earned. Any player can enter the Qualifier. You do not have to have been entered into the Midwest Open.

To book reservation, please call the hotel directly at (847) 299-1600. Ask for Group Reservations, then tell them you are booking for the Midwest Open tournament. If you call between 7am and 3pm, ask for Laura.

CHECK-IN

There is a non-mandatory check-in on Sunday, August 2 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at the Glenbrook Racquet Club (1801 Janke, Northbrook, Illinois). If you cannot attend this check-in, you can collect your information packet at the tournament site of your first match on Aug 3.

Please check-in 30 minutes in advance to give you time to complete important documents. SIGN-UP FOR DOUBLES CLOSES AT 5:00PM SHARP. If you are planning to come to the check-in and sign up for doubles, be sure to be there well before 5:00pm.

DOUBLES

The doubles draw will be posted by 9:30pm on Sunday, August 2. First round matches begin at 8am on Monday, Aug 3. Matches will be played at all three sites.

All players are encouraged to play doubles, regardless of selection into the singles main draw. HOWEVER, players in the singles event have first priority.

The DEADLINE TO SIGN UP FOR DOUBLES IS 5:00PM SUNDAY, AUGUST 2.

Once you have a partner, please let us know at your earliest convenience. There are several ways to sign up with a doubles partner:
1) If you have his USTA number, you can enter him when you register on TennisLink.

2) BOTH players must email the tournament director, Ken@HerrmannTennisAcademy.com BEFORE 5:00PM Sunday, August 2.

3) Both players can sign up at check-in on Sunday BEFORE 5PM.

4) Call Glenbrook Racquet Club (847-498-5333 x24) and leave a message with Ken Herrmann, tournament director.

If you do not have a doubles partner but would like to play, please email Ken@HerrmannTennisAcademy.com, and the tournament committee will pair you up with a partner.

FIRST MATCH TIMES

First match times will be posted by Friday, July 31 at 5:00pm.

MATCH TIMES

Doubles will begin at 8am each morning. Singles will begin no earlier than 9:30am. Players must check in 15 minutes prior to their matches.

ZONAL PARTICIPANTS

We encourage all zonal participants to play this event, however, we are unable to accomodate specific requests for late match times. Zonal participants are recommended to notify the tournament director, Ken@HerrmannTennisAcademy.com, of their participation in Zonals.

PIZZA PARTY

We will be hosting a pizza party at Glenbrook Racquet Club for all competitors from 6:30pm - 8:00pm, following the doubles matches on Monday night. Lou Malnati's will be sponsoring the party. Check the link for more info about their delicious pizza! more info

STRINGING

Glenbrook Racquet Club (1801 Janke Dr, Northbrook) will be providing stringing throughout the tournament. Players can drop off racquets at their site or at Glenbrook Racquet Club. Racquets will be strung within 24 hours. Check with site directors for more information. Stringing will also be available on Sunday, during the 4-6pm check-in. Racquets will be restrung and delivered to player's first site on Monday morning.

WITHDRAWALS

Withdrawals before July 16, 2008 by 5pm will receive full refunds. Players who withdraw after the selection list is posted do not receive refunds unless they provide a written medical excuse.

TRAINER

There will be a trainer available throughout the tournament.
