Texas Open Championships B/G 12's

Thanks to all the players who played in our Texas Open this year. We really enjoyed all the great matches. Best of luck to all of you in the coming year and congratulations to our champions, Bailey Showers and Abigail Chiu in singles Dillon Pineda/Jacob Villanueva and Remi Immler/Abigail Chiu in doubles.

We are trying to leave the doubles draws open to encourage as many teams as possible and to adjust for withdrawals. The Boys' Doubles will start on Tuesday at 3:15 and 5:00 p.m., and the Girls' Doubles will start on Tuesday at 3:00 and 4:45 p.m.

The format for Singles Matches is Best of 3 Tiebreak Sets with a 10-Point Match Tiebreak in lieu of a 3rd Set. The draw format is Full Feed-In Consolation (thru Quarters). The format for Doubles Matches is an 8-game Pro Set with a 10-Point Tiebreak at 8 games all. The draw format for doubles is single elimination.

The seeding for both singles events is now complete. The seeds were selected using the 7-22-09 National Standing List for the B/G 12s division. Please contact the tournament director as soon as possible if you have any questions.

Entries for the Texas Open are now closed. The singles seedings will be posted onl next Monday, July 27. The draws will be posted on Wednesday, July 29.

Welcome to the Texas Open at the Southlake Tennis Center. We are located about 15 minutes west of DFW Airport just off Highway 114. We have a full service pro shop on site, with 13 lighted hard courts.

Due to the large number of players who will be returning from the 12's Zonals in NE, we will be delaying the start of the tournament to noon on Monday to allow those players a chance to enter and play. The tournament will play two singles matchs on Monday, and possibly one doubles match. We will play one match a day at least through the semis.

We are keeping a list of players who are looking for doubles partners. If you want to play doubles, please e-mail us with your contact info and we will pair you up with other interested players.

Our tournament hotel is the Marriott Solana in Westlake. The hotel is 5 minutes from the tournament site. The hotel provides free transportation to and from the main site and the airport. The tournament rate is $89.00 per night. Please call them at (800) 228-9290 and ask for the Texas Open rate.

The entry fee for the tournament is $75.00, which includes both singles and doubles. This tournament accepts on-line entries only.

Tournament check in will take place on Sunday, August 2 from 4-6 p.m and Monday, August 3 from 9-11 a.m. All tournament information, including t-shirts, will be given out at that time. A tournament warm up drill will be available from 4:00-5:30 p.m. Pros will be running hitting drills for the players. The cost of the warm-up drill is $15.

A tournament player's party will be held at STC on Monday, August 2 from 6-8 p.m. The event is free to the players. Adults are $10 per person, siblings/child $5 per person. Players and their guests must pre-register at the front desk by 3 p.m. on Monday in order to attend.

Practice courts will be available on site starting Sunday, August 2 at 11 a.m. You can reserve a practice time by calling STC. Once the tournament starts practice courts will be available on site. A schedule will be posted at the front desk for one hour time slots during the week. USPTA certified pros, several of whom have recent Division I college playing experience will be available during the week for hitting practice for $55.00 per hour. We have both men and women pros avaiable.

This is a Level 3 National Tournament. Trophies will be awarded to the champions, finalists, consolation winners and third place in each singles division. Trophies will be awared to the champions and finalists in doubles. The points awarded are determined by the size of the draws and the number of rounds won. There are a number of players who have registered for doubles who are not paired up with a partner. Please let us know if you want to be paired up and we will try to find you a partner. I will randomly pair players who do not have partners from the entry list. If you are looking for a partner please e-mail me so I can exchange information.
