MANADATORY PLAYER CHECK-IN
A manadatory check-in will be held on Friday, June 26th from 3:30pm-6:00pm at the Kalamazoo Maple Street YMCA (1001 W. Maple St. Kalamazoo, MI 49008). It will be held in the indoor courts. You may enter for the check-in over by the outdoor courts. Players and coaches can park in the YMCA parking lot as well as the church parking lot that is directly across from the YMCA. There will be a player/parent meeting held at 6:15pm. ALL PLAYERS MUST CHECK-IN ON FRIDAY, JUNE 26TH. All Players must fill out numerous forms and waivers! There are no exceptions given for not checking in. If a player does not check in on Friday, it will be assumed they are not coming and an onsite alternate will be inputed. Please provide ample time to drive so you do not miss the check-in.

Doubles Regristration
Please email your doubles team to emduma@kzooymca.org. Once selections are made, please disregard the email about not getting into doubles. Please email the doubles teams to put them in the draw. Even if you signed up for doubles on tennslink please email me. If you do not have a doubles partner yet, players can sign a sheet to find a parter at check in on Friday. Players are not paired up by the director. Teams will be taken up till 7pm on Friday June 26th.

Midwest Player and Parent Meeting
This meeting is for all parents, players and coaches in the tournament. USTA/Midwest Section Director of Junior Tennis, Andrea Calvert-Sanders will present on important issues in junior tennis in the USTA/Midwest Section. The meeting will be held Friday, June 26, 2009 at 6:15 pm at YMCA-Maple Street. Additional information and site location will be provided at the Mandatory Player Registration.

Sites
These are the sites the tournament will be using throughout the tournament. Western Michigan University: Boys and Girls 12 (West Michigan Ave & N. Dormitory Rd, Kalamazoo 49008), Kalamazoo College Stowe: Stadium: Boys and Girls 12 (1200 Academy Street Kalamazoo 49006), Mattawan High School: Boys and Girls 14 (56720 Murray Street Mattawan 49071), Kalamazoo Central High School: Girls 12s and 14s (2432 North Drake Rd Kalamazoo 49006), Kalamazoo Valley Community College: Girls 14 (6767 West O Ave Kalamazoo 49009), and Gull Lake High School: Boys 14 (7753 North 34th St. Richland 49083) and Vicksburg High School: Boys 12, only Saturday morning (501 East Highway St. Vicksburg, MI 49097). Addresses will also be in player packets.

Alternates and Selections
Selections will be made on Tuesday, June 23th. All singles players will get an email stating that you are in the draw. Players not selected will get an email stating that they did not get in and they are on the alternates list. The alternate list is listed now in numerical order. Please keep looking at the list to know when players have moved up a position. I will notify the player if the chance arrives to compete in singles. If you have any questions, please call (269) 324-9622. Players only on the top ten alternate list will be welcome to come be an on-site alternate. It would be helpful to know if you are planning to be an on site alternate.

Schedule of Play for Singles and Doubles
The format for singles is a full 2 out of 3 sets. The format for doubles is a full 2 out of 3 sets. This is for all age groups: Saturday: one round of singles with one/two rounds of doubles. Sunday: one round of singles in both the main draw and back draw, FIC with one/two rounds of doubles. Monday: one round of the Main, two rounds of FIC, one round of doubles. Tuesday: one round of the Main, two rounds of FIC, one round of doubles. Wednesday: two rounds of the Main & FIC, finals of doubles. Thursday: finals of the Main, two rounds of FIC.

Match Times and Draw
First Round Match Times will not be given out before check-in on Friday. The draw will not be posted until Saturday when play begins.

Age Eligibility
AGE ELIGIBILITY: NJT USA play leads to the NJT International Masters where 28 countries participate. Therefore, to be eligible for the NJT USA National Masters and the NJT International Masters, players must meet the ITF (International Tennis Federation) age eligibility cutoff date of December 31st. Example: If you are currently 12, but will turn 13 on or before December 31, 2009, you may play in the Section Championship in the 12's but WOULD NOT BE ELIGIBLE to compete in the 12’s at the NJT National Masters at Stanford or the International Masters. Players should consider the ITF age eligibility to determine which age group to enter if they want to be eligible to go on to the NJT USA National Masters or International Masters.

Singles Seeding and Selection
Seeding and Selection will be based on the most current USTA/Midwest Section Standing PPR List in the age division of the event.

Doubles Seeding and Selection
Doubles Seeding and Selection Criteria: All players must appear on their District Endorsement list in order to be considered to the event.The draw size will be limited to the top 64 teams.
Seeding for All Doubles Events: Players will be seeded based on the most current USTA/Midwest Section Singles Standing List in the division of the event.
Doubles Seeding and Selection:
The following method will be used for Seeding:
• Highest sum of each players’ USTA/Midwest Section Doubles Standing List Position.
• Highest sum of each player’s USTA/Midwest Section Singles Standing List Position.
Selection Process: Teams will be accepted into the main doubles draw in the following order:
1. Teams that are made up of players accepted in the same age division as the main singles draw
2. Teams that are made up of one player accepted in the main singles draw and their partner is an alternate to the same age division as the main singles draw.
3. Teams that are made up of players that are alternates to the same age division as the main singles draw.
4. In the event of a tie, teams will be selected by the highest sum of each players’ USTA/Midwest Section Doubles Standing List Position.
5. Any player selected for singles in any age division.

Level of Tournament
This event will be a National Level 3 and a Midwest Level 1 for Points per Round Ranking.

General Info
The Nike Junior Tour (NJT) is a worldwide series of junior singles tournaments for Boys and Girls in the 12 and 14 age groups. There are currently 28 countries participating in the NJT, representing over 60,000 players. Former NJT International Masters participants include Rafal Nadal, Juan Martin Del Potro and Tomas Berdych. The winner(s) of this event will be invited to compete at the NJT USA National Masters, September 18-20, 2009 at Stanford University CA. The NJT USA National Masters is a Level II USTA National event. Nike provides round trip transportation, food and lodging for the winner(s) (B14, B12, G14, G12) plus one team coach. The NJT USA National Masters winners advance to play in the NJT International Masters in October in the Dominican Republic. Expenses for the International Masters are paid for by Nike.If you have not already seen it, the Tennis Channel is airing the Nike Junior Tour International Masters. The show captures what a really special event the NJT International Masters is. Nike will be getting DVD's of the show. I will send each section office one soon.
Great news. This year the NJT National Masters will be a level II USTA National event. So now not only do your qualifiers get a free trip to Stanford and a chance to go on to the International Masters, but everyone who attends has a chance to pick up level II National ranking points.
