WELCOME TO THE 2008 INTERMOUNTAIN SNOWBALL SECTIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP, in partnership with the Utah Sports Commission. We look forward to a week of fabulous tennis and are excited to host this great event.

We are expecting very frigid temperatures here in Utah during this tournament. Matches will be played in bubbles at several of the tournament sites. The temperatures inside of the bubbles are fine for the players, but are cold for the spectators. Please - IF YOU WILL BE WATCHING A MATCH IN A BUBBLE - PLAN ON BRINGING A VERY WARM COAT, BLANKET, etc.

mandatory player check-in will be held on friday, january 18th, from 12:00 noon to 8:00 pm at the crystal inn - located at 818 east winchester street, murray. final draws will be given out at this time!

until check-in, changes in the draw can and often do occur! many draws will continue to change as people drop out of events and are replaced by alternates. the draws are not final until you see the draws that are given out at check-in! the computer will not be updated with the last final changes until very late at night on friday the 18th. final draws will be given out at check-in!!! the utah tennis association office will be closed for the holiday from 4:30 pm on friday, january 18th, until 9:00 am on tuesday, january 22nd. draw information will not be available over the phone.

DOUBLES MATCHES will begin at 3:00 PM on Friday afternoon, January 18th. Doubles matches that day will be played at the Sports Mall, Eccles Tennis Center and at Salt Lake Tennis Club. We will play TWO AND IF POSSIBLE THREE rounds of doubles matches that day. The remaining doubles matches will be played at your assigned sites. Please note that if you are playing doubles, you must sign up online with your partner. THERE WILL BE NO DOUBLES REGISTRATION AT CHECK-IN! PLEASE REGISTER BY THE DECEMBER 17th DEADLINE. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO PLAY DOUBLES BUT DO NOT HAVE A PARTNER, YOU MAY CONTACT ME PRIOR TO THE DECEMBER 17th DEADLINE AND I WILL DO MY BEST TO PAIR YOU UP WITH SOMEONE ELSE WHO IS LOOKING FOR A PARTNER. You must play in the same age division as you are playing singles. Your partner MUST be in the same age group as you. For example, if you are playing in the Boy's 14's Singles, your partner cannot be playing in the Boy's 16's Singles. Unfortunately, these types of requests cannot be accomodated due to potential scheduling conflicts. The Doubles format will be 8 game pro-sets, single elimination. The doubles event is very important for players who are interested in playing college tennis.

parking notice: please park in the parking lot directly east and across the road from the eccles tennis center. there is a $1.00 fee for the parking meter that will be good for all day.

BOYS AND GIRLS 18's matches will be played at the Sports Mall - located at 5445 South 900 East, Salt Lake City; matches will also be played at the Eccles Tennis Center - located at 550 South Guardsman Way, Salt Lake City. BOYS AND GIRLS 16's matches will be played at the Salt Lake Tennis Club - located at 2471 South 1700 East, Salt Lake City; matches will also be played at the Eccles Tennis Center - located at 550 South Guardsman Way, Salt Lake City. GIRLS 14's matches will be played at the Ivory Ridge Tennis Club - located at 62 East Clubview Lane, Lehi. BOYS 14's matches will be played at the Eagle Ridge Tennis Club - located at 711 Parkway Drive, North Salt Lake. GIRLS 12's matches will be played at the Cottonwood Country Club - located at 1780 Lakewood Drive, Salt Lake City; matches will also be played at the Sports Mall - located at 5445 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. BOYS 12's matches will be played at Liberty Park - the entrance to Liberty Park is located at 600 East and 900 South, Salt Lake City; matches will also be played at Coach Mike's Tennis Academy - located at 1216 Wasatch Drive, Salt Lake City.

ALL SINGLES FINALS (Including playoffs for 1st & 2nd, 3rd & 4th and consolation) AND SOME CONSOLATION SEMI-FINALS WILL BE HELD ON WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 23rd. BOYS AND GIRLS 18's AND 16's FINALS WILL BE PLAYED AT THE SPORTS MALL, LOCATED AT 5445 SOUTH 900 EAST, SALT LAKE CITY. BOYS AND GIRLS 14's AND 12's FINALS WILL BE PLAYED AT SALT LAKE TENNIS CLUB, LOCATED AT 2471 SOUTH 1700 EAST, SALT LALKE CITY.

INTERMOUNTAIN SEEDING PROTOCOL - Seeding for all of the Intermountain Tournaments (Circuits and Sectionals) will be taken straight off of the current ITA Standing's Lists except if there is an exceptional player aging or playing up. An exceptional player is defined as a player listed in the top 100 of the most current National Standings List in the lower age division. This exceptional player will be CONSIDERED for seeding. DOUBLES SEEDS - Will be taken directly from the recent ITA Individual Doubles Standings Lists. Partners ranks will be averaged and seeded accordingly. Consideration for seeding will be given for teams that are on the top 100 Nationally ranked doubles Standings List.

All tennis plalyers will be required to wear appropriate tennis attire and dress in a manner consistant with the facilities expectations as well as the expectations of a participant in the Snowball Sectional Championships.

PLEASE BOOK YOUR HOTEL ROOMS EARLY!!! The holiday weekend is a very crowed ski weekend and hotel rooms book fast. Salt Lake is also hosting the Outdoor Retailers Convention that week and most of the hotels are booked. PLEASE BOOK EARLY!!! After the hotel cut-off dates, if the hotels have any space available, it will be at the full rate on a space-available basis.

The CRYSTAL INN is located at 818 East Winchester Street, Murray. This hotel is right off of I-215. It is the closest hotel to the Sports Mall and is 18 miles away from Ivory Ridge. This hotel also has easy access to Cottonwood Country Club, and Salt Lake Tennis Club. Registration will take place in this hotel. The hotel offers a complimentary hot buffet breakfast and a light dinner daily. The CHASE SUITES HOTEL is located at 765 East 400 South. It is the closest hotel to Liberty Park and the Eccles Tennis Center. This hotel also has fairly easy access to the Salt Lake Tennis Club. The HAMPTON INN is located at 3576 North Maple Loop, Lehi. It is the closest hotel to the Ivory Ridge Tennis Club. It is located 18 miles south of Salt Lake City. They offer a continental breakfast with 1 hot item daily. Also offered is free high-speed internet access, mocrowaves, mini refrigerators and an indoor swimming pool and exercise room. They are located very close to Thanksgiving Point, the Dinosaur Museum, IKEA and Cabela's. Room rates are $84 plus tax per night. The have King or Double/Double rooms available. The COTTON TREE INN is located at 1030 North 400 East, North Salt Lake, just off of I-15. This is the closest hotel to the Eagle Ridge Tennis Club. The Cotton Tree offers a full hot breakfast that includes a self serve waffle bar, eggs and sausage or biscuits and gravy, assorted bagels and cream cheese, juices, hot chocolate, coffee and tea.
