EASTER SUNDAY
The tournament schedule requires that this tournament be played over Easter weekend. At this time we do not have any plans for a late start due to Easter on Sunday, since our main concern is completing the tournament as early as possible so players who have traveled a long distance can get home. There will be a Sunrise service at WCUMC, which is a block away from our facility, on Easter morning for those who are interested in attending. We sincerely regret this conflict, but after discussions with USTA Texas this is the best option available for the players.
|
CAMBRIA HOTEL
We do not have a host hotel, but this is the website for a local hotel that is within 5 minutes of both sites and is offering a reasonable rate for the tournament weekend.

PLEASE NOTE-NO LATE ENTRIES
This tournament leaves the entry deadline open until Sunday at 12 midnight. WE ARE UNABLE TO ACCEPT ANY LATE ENTRIES. If your partner is NOT registered by the entering deadline, WE CANNOT PAIR YOU UP. Players can only play with partners who are registered prior to the entry deadline.
|
PARTNERS/PAIRING UP PLAYERS WHO DO NOT HAVE A PARTNER
If you wish to play with a specific partner BOTH players must indicate their partner prior to the entry deadline. If only one player indicates a partner, but not the other, the pairing will not be made. This is done to prevent one player from choosing a partner without that player's permission. To indicate a partner after you have entered the tournament, go back to your confirmation email. Return to your registration information and use the "edit" function to add your partner's name. Players who are not paired up at the entry deadline will be paired up with another available player in the order of the champs standing list.
|
PLEASE READ - IMPORTANT ENTRY INFORMATION
An important change to note is the correct way to register for doubles
online, which is used in the CMZ Doubles for 2019. Players may
register with or without a partner. If you register with a partner you MUST
indicate your partner through the online registration system before
the entry deadline. Both player need to correctly identify their
doubles partner during either their initial process, or by going back to
the home page of the tournament after registration, prior to the entry
deadline and use "Edit Registration" to "Indicate Doubles Partner" link
to indicate the partner of their choice. Correct doubles registration
is the player's responsibility. Immediately after registering, player
need to check the Applicant List to ensure that they are registered with
their partner of choice (and check to see that their partner is also
registered with them.) Please email the tournament director for
assistance if necessary. THE TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR CANNOT PAIR YOU UP IF ONLY ONE PLAYER HAS INDICATED THE PARTNER. BOTH PLAYERS MUST BE PAIRED.
|
HOW TO CHANGE PARTNERS
If you have entered the tournament and now need to change partners it is best to withdraw from the tournament and re-enter, using the "Edit Registration" link.

REQUALIFICATION RULES-CMZ
Super Champ players looking to re-qualify can do so by singing up for
one of the singles CMZs or the Doubles CMZ, but cannot play in the
singles division of the Super Champ Level in April in addition to a CMZ.
|
DOUBLES CMZ TIMELINE
The entry deadline for the CMZ Doubles is Sunday, April 14th. Players who qualify in the Singles CMZ earlier in April should withdraw from this tournament as they will not be eligible. Players will have a 24 hour grace period after entries have closed to contact the tournament director with any errors in their doubles registration. After that 24 hour grace period, if both players are not registered with each other, then they will become individually registered doubles players and be paired with another individually registered doubles player based on the order of the current Standings list. All players registered individually without a partner will be paired with another individually registered doubles player based on the order of the current Standings List, if a partner is available. DRAWS WILL BE POSTED ON WEDNESDAY, April 17TH.
|
HOW IS SEEDING DETERMINED?
The seeding for doubles is based on the current Champs Standing List (rank position, not
points) in each age group. The standing of both players were combined to
create a team ranking. For example, if one player is #4 on the standing list and
another player is #28, their combined ranking is 32. Teams are
placed in order based on this combined ranking. The lower the total
ranking, the higher the seeding.Ties are broken by having the highest ranked individual player's team receiving the higher seed.
|
PLAYING SINGLES AND DOUBLES CMZs
CMZ players may play in both the singles and doubles CMZ within the same
month. Players who qualify for Champs during the April Challengers WILL
NOT be eligible to compete in the April CMZ Doubles. Players who qualify
for Supers in the April Singles CMZ ARE NOT eligible to play in the CMZ
Doubles and should withdraw prior to the entry deadline. Players who
qualify for Champs in April cannot play at the next level until May. Players may play SCMZ Doubles only and CMZ Doubles.
|
PLAYERS AND PARTNERS
Players do not have to sign up as teams in order to play in the CMZ Doubles. Players who do not have a partner listed, or who are not properly paired up with their partner will be put in a player pool. Players will then be matched up by their positions on the CMZ standing list, so the two highest ranked players will be paired first, and then the next two, until everyone has been paired up. In the case of an uneven number of players, that player can be available to replace a player who withdraws, or they can choose to pair up with a player in the other CMZ Doubles Tournament in Spring, TX if there is an odd number in that draw.
|

First-off Consolation – All Challengers and CMZs use the First Off Consolation Format. This format will show as Single Elimination on the tournament homepage, but all players are guaranteed two matches. This format eliminates “maybe matches” and almost every player in consolation will play their first consolation match on Saturday. How does it work? Players that lose in the main draw will be fed into the consolation draw in the order that they come off the court (i.e. the first player to come off the court will go on line one, the sixth player to come off the court will go on line six). This new format ensures more players playing on Saturday and an overall better tournament.
|
Excessive Overrule Guideline: The USTA Texas Officials Committee along with the Competitive Department has established a guideline in reference to excessive overrules as clarified in the Friend at Court. This guideline states "Once a player has been overruled for a second time in a match, they will be cautioned that after another overrule, they will be penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct under the point penalty system."

Inappropriate umpire/spectator communication, whether it be about a ruling or any other facet of a tennis event is prohibited while a match is in progress. Being a parent, coach, etc. does not endow special privileges. With the only exception of the right to remove their own child from competition at any time, a parent or coach is merely a spectator.
|
USTA Texas "No Late Entries" Policy for Juniors Due to a new USTA Texas internal procedure, junior division players will NOT be able to register for a tournament after the online published deadline. We are aware that currently parents reach out via email or phone to the USTA Texas staff and/or tournament director requesting to be manually added to the tournament after online registration has closed. If a player misses the registration deadline, then he/she will not be permitted to participate in that tournament
|
Registration Confirmation: As a parent or player it is your responsibility to assure registration in the event. Regardless if you register on the website or mobile app after completing the registration you should visit the USTA web driven site and confirm your registration by finding the player in the applicants list. If you select to skip this process please be aware that should any malfunctions of the system occur, players will not be granted late entrance in the event due to a system error.
|
