PLAYER CHECK-IN:
Please check-in 30 minutes before all your scheduled matches. When you have checked in, you are indicating to the tournament you are ready to play. Please use the restroom, see the trainer if necessary, and finish any other pre-match routine prior to checking in. Once you have checked in you must stay in the immediate area of the tournament desk so you can hear your name as you are called for you court assignment.

REPORTING SCORES & WITHDRAWALS:
Immediately after the completion of a match, the winner shall report the score to the tournament desk. If you lose the match and are concerned about the score being reported incorrectly, you should accompany the winner to the desk. If there is a dispute, it must be handled then. We will not change the score from the written recording based on a protest from the loser. Players desiring to withdraw from the tournament for any reason must notify the tournament director prior to leaving. Do not tell anyone at the tournament desk and think that you have properly withdrawn. Unless you speak to the tournament director it will be counted as a "No Show".

CERTIFIED ATHLETIC TRAINER:
There will be a trainer on site during match-play. By law, trainers are not allowed to distribute any medicine. Please be sure to bring your own Tylenol, Advil, Sinus Medicine, Epi Pens, etc.

FORMAT :
All age divisions will play first round on Saturday June 23rd and finals on Tuesday June 26th. Format is Single Elimination with Quarter Final Losers playing off for 5th/6th place and Semi-Final losers playing off for 3rd/4th place. First and second round losers will play a consolation draw for 9th place. All main draw (incl. 3rd/4th playoff) matches are best two out of three tiebreak sets (set tie break is first to 7 points by 2 points and will be used in all sets reaching six games all). All consolation and 5th place playoff matches are best two out of three sets with a match tiebreak (first to 10 points by 2 points ) in lieu of the third set. In extreme heat/humidity/rain conditions matches may be required to use a match tiebreak (first to 10 points by 2 points) in lieu of a third set.

All players selected to participate will receive an official 2018 New England Jr. Section Championships New Balance Performance T-shirt. Trophies will be awarded to Champions, Finalists, Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth places.

PLAYER PROMISE & SPORTSMANSHIP AWARDS
Players will be invited to autograph their agreement to abide by the Player Promise. Players will be recognized with awards for outstanding sportsmanship. Sportsmanship qualities include: Playing Fair, Following the rules of the game, Respecting the judgment of the referee and roving officials, Treating opponents with respect.

ROLE OF CERTIFIED OFFICIALS:
The Sectionals will be using roving certified officials. The officials can be identified by their USTA blue shirt, khaki pants or shorts, red cap and navy blue outerwear. These officials have been trained and certified by the USTA to enforce the USTA Regulations. The duties of the officials include the following: -Measure the net at the beginning of the match -Time warm-ups, changeovers, time between points and time between 2nd and 3rd set or 2nd set and match tiebreaker. - Have balls on court for split sets - Replace lost/broken balls with one of "like wear" - Assist in scoring disputes - Enforce the USTA rules - Send for the trainer when there is a need for medical assistance and then time the MTO - Issue Code of Conduct violations. Consider cautioning the player for borderline conduct. Remember, there is no Warning in the USTA PPS. If practical, inform the Referee after issuing a Game penalty, shortly after issuing it. - After 2nd overrule of same player/same match, warn player that any subsequent overrules are subject to the PPS. - Overrule line calls and call foot faults but only if observed directly. - Enforce the rule that prohibits players associates from interfering with play or communicating with or coaching players except at split sets.

GUIDELINES FOR JUDGING CODE VIOLATIONS:
The Point Penalty System will be in effect during the New England Sectionals. Violation of the Code of Conduct will result in the following: 1st offense Loss of Point and Suspension Points 2nd offense Loss of Game and Suspension Points 3rd offense Default and Suspension Points Additional suspension points may be given for various serious offenses. AUDIBLE OBSCENITY: Any commonly known obscene that is heard by an official will be penalized. Verbal rules apply to any . OBSCENE GESTURE: Any gesture commonly understood to be obscene will be penalized. BALL ABUSE: Any ball hit violently or in anger after the point ends will be penalized. ABUSE OF EQUIPMENT: Racquets may not be slid, kicked, or thrown to the court. Violent contact with the fence, greenery, net, benches, bags, or anything on or around the court will be penalized. UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT: Any action that could be considered as unsportsmanlike in nature will be penalized. TIME DELAYS: Intentionally delaying the game will be penalized. Players must play within the time constraints as identified below. Failure to do so falls under the Point Penalty System. Players have 20 seconds between points and 90 seconds on the changeovers servers will serve at a reasonable pace and receiver will play to the pace of the server. There will be no rest period during the changeover between the first and second games of any set. Players will have two-minute rest period between sets except after the second set in a best of three set match there is a mandatory 10-minute rest period during which coaching is allowed. If a Match Tiebreak is played in lieu of a third set, there is a mandatory 3-minute break during which coaching is allowed on the court. COACHING: Coaching, either verbally or with hand signals by parents or coaches during a match is subject to violation. The player will be immediately given a Code Violation and the person coaching will be removed from the area. PENALTIES FOR LATENESS: These penalties begin at the time the match is scheduled: 5:00 minutes or less Loss of Toss plus 1 game 5:01 - 10:00 minutes Loss of Toss plus 2 games 10:01 - 15:00 minutes Loss of Toss plus 3 games More than 15 minutes Default

RULES:
The tournament is governed by USTA Sanctioned Tournament Rules and USTA New England Regulations. USTA officials will be on site. The Point Penalty System will be in effect. Unsportsmanlike conduct of players, parents or coaches, on, or off, the court, will not be tolerated and may lead to default of the player(s) involved.

SELECTION, QUALIFIERS, ALTERNATES & WILDCARDS
The top 20 players in the standings (in each division) of those who register for this tournament will be selected for singles draws. 4 qualifier players per draw (semi-finalists from the June 22nd Qualifying draws) will also be selected. Tournaments through June 10th will be included in the standings computation used for selection. Tournament is open to eligible New England residents only. If you think you may be an alternate you are eligible to also register for the June 22nd Qualifying tournament (ID # 450067218) without affecting your alternate status.
