2018 Excellence Notes
The goal of this compass draw tournament is to give players the opportunity to play 3 to 4 matches in a non-elimination format. Because of the varied number of entries in each age division and withdrawals after the entry deadline, we have put the following guidelines in place. Draws for this tournament will not be published until the prior Thursday at 6:00pm. After Thursday at 6:00pm, if a withdrawn player does not affect seeding, then players may be moved to the open line (as per Friend at Court alternate list). If a withdrawn player is seeded, then players may be moved and seeding may be corrected (as per Friend at Court regulations).
Every age division will start with a D draw to manage withdrawals after the entry deadline. Players may be moved from the D draw to the C draw depending on the number of entries on the prior Thursday at noon.
Every effort will be made to have full A, B and C draws to ensure 4 matches for every player. Changes may be made after draws are published! No draw adjustments will be made after play begins. All Super Champ players are eligible for this tournament. This tournament is for Texas Section residents only. In each age group there will be an A draw, B draw, multiple C draws (as needed) and a D draw. The A draw will be the top 16 players, and the B draw will be the next 16 players. There will be 2 B draws if there are 80 or more entrants in a division. The C draw will consist of all other players, equally split into draws of 16 (maximum). The D draw will consist of overflow players from the C draws and will have a minimum of 4 players. A and B draws will be compass draws. C draws may be compass or round robin draws depending on the number of players. The D (or last) draw will be a round robin or a compass draw depending on the number of players (see note below for exact breakdown of draw based on number of players).
|
Playing Format
All matches will be best of 3 tie break sets with a full third set (10 min break between 2nd and 3rd sets with coaching allowed). Format subject to change due to inclement weather.

Inappropriate umpire/spectator communication, whether it be about a ruling or any other facet of a tennis event is prohibited while a match is in progress. Being a parent, coach, etc. does not endow special privileges. With the only exception of the right to remove their own child from competition at any time, a parent or coach is merely a spectator.

|
USTA Texas "No Late Entries" Policy for Juniors Due to a new USTA Texas internal procedure, junior division players will NOT be able to register for a tournament after the online published deadline. We are aware that currently parents reach out via email or phone to the USTA Texas staff and/or tournament director requesting to be manually added to the tournament after online registration has closed. If a player misses the registration deadline, then he/she will not be permitted to participate in that tournament
|
Registration Confirmation: As a parent or player it is your responsibility to assure registration in the event. Regardless if you register on the website or mobile app after completing the registration you should visit the USTA web driven site and confirm your registration by finding the player in the applicants list. If you select to skip this process please be aware that should any malfunctions of the system occur, players will not be granted late entrance in the event due to a system error.
