SPORTSMANSHIP WINNER: WILL PORTER
Congratulations to WILL PORTER (Boy's 18) from Fort Worth, for winning the Sportsmanship award at the Arlington Tennis Center Championship Major Zone this weekend! Will displayed outstanding sportsmanship on and offer the court, appreciation for his opponents' play, as well as respect for his own efforts. Will was personable with other players, polite with the officials and the tournament and facility staff. WITHDRAWAL, WALKOVER AND RETIREMENT PROCEDURE FOR CHAMPIONSHIP MAJOR ZONES
Over the last 12 months there has been a significant increase in withdrawals, walkovers, and retirements. Players registered for an event that withdraw from that event after Wednesday (three days prior to the start of the event) at 12:00 PM (noon), or who provide a walkover to their opponent, or who retire from a match will be assessed two points in the suspension point system. If a player reaches 10 points within a 12 month period, the player will be eligible for suspension and will have the right to an appeal process. During this appeal process, which only happens if a player reaches 10 points, the player will be given the opportunity to explain and/or provide any additional information/evidence. No information/evidence will be considered or accepted prior to the player reaching 10 points. If what is provided is deemed to have merit and the withdrawal, walkover, or retirement is determined to be justified, the committee will immediately remove the points for that particular incident and the suspension will be nullified. Please know that the objective of this procedure is not to penalize players, but to track withdrawals, walkovers, and retirements. There is a maximum of two points that can be assessed to a player during a particular tournament, even in the case when the player retires from a match in progress, then awards a walkover to an opponent in the next match.

|
FIRST OFF CONSOLATION (FOC)
All Challengers and CMZs use the First Off Consolation Format. This format will show as Single Elimination on the tournament homepage, but all players are guaranteed two matches. This format eliminates MOST “maybe matches,” and almost every player in consolation will play their first consolation match on Saturday. How does it work? Players who lose in the main draw will be fed into the consolation draw in the order that they come off the court (i.e. the first player to come off the court will go on line one, the sixth player to come off the court will go on line six). This format ensures more players playing on Saturday and an overall better tournament. Note: TDM does not allow adjustments to the line numbers in Consolation to accommodate FOC. The order players are placed in Consolation will not tie with the numbers on the on-line draws.
|
WARM-UP COURTS
- Warm-up
courts will NOT be available at match locations once matches begin
each day.
- Courts
will not be open at high schools sites before 7:30 AM each day. Courts WILL be open at UT Arlington and Arlington Tennis Center each day by 7:15 AM. - Never
assume that because a court is free momentarily that it is available for
you to warm up. - See Area Tennis Map
for locations and addresses for matches and area warm-up courts.

OFFICIAL BALL
Wilson US Open balls are the
official balls of this tournament. Three new balls will be provided for each match, with three additional new balls provided for players who split sets in the main draw Semis for Finals (if format remains best of three full sets and is not altered for weather issues).

|
SCHEDULE
Play
may begin as early as 8:00 AM Saturday and Sunday. Players should be prepared to play late into the afternoon, or early evening, on both days. Note: Championship Major Zones will not be cancelled due to weather until the second day (Sunday). Players should expect to play up to three singles matches in one day.
Before entering the tournament, check your schedule. Consider your availability if you have other activities that conflict with your availability to complete this tournament, as you will be expected to play both days if you continue to win in either the main draw or consolation.

SPECTATOR POLICY
ATTENTION ALL SPECTATORS (INCLUDES PARENTS, COACHES, RELATIVES, FRIENDS, ETC.) In an effort to promote a more enjoyable and fair experience for all, the following policy is in immediate force and effect, and shall be diligently and stringently enforced. USTA Texas has implemented a “ZERO TOLERANCE” policy for improper behavior.
1. Any attempt by a spectator to speak to the official in an abusive or disrespectful manner regarding a line call or other ruling during match play shall be cause for immediate removal from the playing area and, if warranted, from the premises.
2. Any spectator behavior deemed unacceptable towards a player, other spectator or tournament staff member shall be cause for immediate removal from the playing area or the entire premises. If said behavior is directed towards a player, either before, during or after a tournament, it shall result in an automatic and immediate suspension of that spectator’s right to attend USTA Texas tournaments, for a period of time to be determined by the USTA Texas Discipline and Grievance Committee.
3. Refusal to adhere to a removal request shall trigger immediate enforcement of the point penalty system against the player with whom the spectator is involved (per point penalty system regulations), including possible immediate default from the tournament.
4. The On-Site Official is the SOLE judge regarding unacceptable behavior. Inappropriate umpire/spectator communication, whether it be about a ruling or any other facet of a tennis event is prohibited while a match is in progress. Being a parent, coach, etc. does not endow special privileges. With the only exception of the right to remove their own child from competition at any time, a parent or coach is merely a spectator.
