Notes
As part of our doubles tournament, we are proud to host USTA
National Category 1 Doubles divisions for Same Gender Married
Couples in a number of age divisions for men and women married
couples. It is exciting that USTA offers these divisions for our
community and that we have been selected to offer the National Hard
Court event, in which players in these divisions will receive the
USTA Gold, Silver or Bronze Tennis Ball awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd
place finishers in each division. So play these divisions if you
meet the criteria, or support the matches at beautiful Mission
Hills Country Club.
We will have a players welcome party Friday evening March 3rd at
Las Casuelas in Palm Springs on Palm Canyon Drive as well as a
players luncheon on Sunday, finals day at Mission Hills Country
Club in Rancho Mirage. Desert weather can be cool or warmish in
March so be sure to bring a jacket. Extend your desert visit with
some exciting professional tennis action with the BNP Paribas
Tournament at Indian Wells Tennis Garden. Admission is free on
Monday and Tuesday March 6 and 7 with qualifying rounds played at
the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Indian Wells, California, which
is Palm Springs adjacent if you are not familiar with the Palm
Springs area. The Indian Wells event is a Master Series
professional event, one level under the Grand Slams, and qualies
feature stars trying to get back to main draw status as well as up
and coming future professional tennis stars. So see the tennis for
free and this world class fabulous event with the second largest
tennis stadium in the world, second only to Arthur Ashe Stadium in
New York.
