Huntington Beach Open Tennis Tournament will be using the ProPenn Marathon Heavy Duty Ball for the 2017 tournament.

MATCH FORMAT & SCORING
All matches played will be 2 out of 3 tiebreak sets with a match tiebreak (10 points) in lieu of third set. Finals will be 2 out of 3 sets with NO MORE THAN 5 minute break between 2nd and 3rd sets. The tournament committee reserves the right to modify scoring, such as no-ad scoring, or event format at their discretion.

DRESS CODE
Our participating hosting clubs require all players to wear proper tennis attire. This includes no black-soled marking tennis shoes, T-shirts or tank tops. Failure to comply with this policy can result in a default.

Due to lower entry numbers The 56th Huntington Beach Open will be held the first weekend, August 4th to the 6th. A final decision will be made Sunday if the tournament needs to be cancelled if entries are so low that enough divisions can not be run.

IMPORTANT REGISTRATION NOTES * Please read prior to registering
Registration is done ONLINE ONLY! You will need a valid credit card and current USTA # for yourself and your partner. During the doubles registration process you MUST check the payment box (REGISTER BOX) to the right of the event you wish to play, AND FOR YOUR PARTNER(S) AS WELL. If you are playing one doubles event, you will have 2 REGISTER BOXES CHECKED, two doubles events, 4 BOXES WILL BE CHECKED, 1 Doubles and 1 Singles (open), 3 BOXES WILL BE CHECKED. The total fee for Open doubles is $76.26 per event and $48.88 for singles (includes online fees). The total fee for NTRP doubles is $66 per event and $43.50 for singles (includes online fees). PLAYERS WHO REGISTER INCORRECTLY WILL BE NOTIFIED BY EMAIL PRIOR TO THE DEADLINE DATE TO CORRECT THEIR ENTRY MISTAKE(S). FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN THE TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE REPLACING, REMOVING, ADDING A "LATE FEE" OR DRIOPPING INCOMPLETE ENTRIES. For your benefit, please make sure that your FEES are correct prior to finalizing your registration process.

Due to policy from the USTA's legal department, tournament directors will not be given access to phone numbers and email addresses of the tournament participants UNLESS THE PLAYER ENTERS their contact information at the time of event registration. DURING THE REGISTRATION PROCESS, IF YOU DO NOT PROVIDE THIS INFORMATION we will not be able to contact you for any reason, including withdrawals, defaults, byes, rain delays, etc. Your cooperation in providing this data will ensure that we can communicate necessary information to you.

RATINGS FOR PARTICIPATION
Players cannot play below USTA NTRP rating. If a player does not have a USTA rating, then they must play at or above their club rating. All ratings are subject to verification. Non-disclosure or false information regarding a player's rating will result in disqualification and forfeiture of entry fee at any time during the tournament. The rating Committee reserves the right to reclassify or disqualify any player or team, regardless of their club rating, or SELF USTA NTRP rating if determined to be overqualified for the division they enter (even during the tournament). Classification of the stronger player will determine the classification of a doubles team. NTRP events are open to players 19 years or older, Junior players 18 years and under must participate in the Open Division. NO SPLIT ENTRY FEES OR SPLITTING DIVISIONS
This tournament DOES NOT ALLOW PLAYERS TO SPLIT THEIR THIER DOUBLES ENTRY FEE (only pay for 1/2 or their share of the doubles entry fee) OR FOR PLAYERS TO PARTICIPATE IN TWO DIFFERENT NTRP DIVISIONS.. Please make sure that you pay the FULL doubles fee when entering (read the registration info above). If you ignore this and split entry fees or enter in two different divisions (3.5 & 4.0 or 4.0 & 4.5, etc.), you will receive an email telling you to finalize your doubles payment or withdraw and re-enter in the same division. You will not be reimbursed for online fees so please follow directions. Once entries close, players who have not paid properly will be charged a $10 late fee on top of their balance due OR WILL BE DROPPED FROM THE EVENT. Players who enter in split divisions (two different NTRP levels) will be dropped from one event or will be moved into the higher event(s) along with their partners.

SUBSTITUTIONS or PARTNER CHANGES:
Players may make substitutions prior to draws or seedings being made. After draws are posted, no substitutions are allowed without written request and approval by the tournament director/chair. To substitute a partner, please review the "withdrawing from the tournament" info below. If you should have a partner that needs to withdraw (due to injury or personal circumstances) you can request a partner change by contacting the tournament chair or tournament director prior to match play. Please give yourself a minimum of 30 minutes lead time before your first round match to have the change approved. Any player that would potentially change the seeds, has already played or is playing in another HB Open event, does not have a valid USTA rating, etc. may be denied. If possible, contact us as early as possible at the e-mail listed above.

WITHDRAWING OR MAKING CHANGES TO YOUR ENTRY
If entries have not yet closed, a player may withdraw or make changes to their entry by going to the tournament USTA TennisLink Home Page (the page you're on). Once in the system, go to the "Edit Registration" on the right hand side of the screen. Select the option that you wish to perform (withdraw, change partner, etc.). You will need your confirmation number from your original registration to withdraw. (Credit cards are not charged until the entry deadline closes, no refund needs to be made). Once you withdraw, you can re-register if you wish to change your event(s) or partner(s). If you cannot locate your confirmation number, you will need to contact linkteam@usta.com or the tournament director. Entry fees will not be refunded after entries close or due to rain. We recommend that an alternate be substituted in place of the player(s) who can not attend. Please note that any substitution(s) must be cleared by the tournament director if the seeding has been completed.

$$ OPEN DIVISION PRIZE MONEY $$
Prize money will only be awarded to the Open Men’s & Women’s singles & Doubles winners and finalists (50% of the entry income from those events) and must have a minimum of 32 players per event for singles, minimum of 16 teams for doubles. Please note the acceptance of prize money affects amateur status and NCAA rules.

All players are required to sign a waiver of release prior to the start of their first round match. The rules and regulations above are subject to change at the tournament committee’s discretion for the betterment of the event.

No Selection Process. All registered players will be selected.
Entry to this tournament is open to all USTA members. Entries must be submitted by Monday, July 31, 2017 11:59:00 PM Pacific Time. Only USTA members can register online if available.
