Welcome to the 2017 Sweet 16! We are looking forward to a great
weekend of tennis in Oxford again this year.
This special event takes the top 16 players that apply in each age
group. So if there are more than 16 players that apply, we will go
by the most recent standing list to determine who will be entered.
There is no penalty for applying, and if you are not selected then
you will not be entered and your card will not be charged. If less
than 16 players apply in a division, then everyone will be
entered.
This tournament uses a waterfall draw, so assuming a full draw of
16 players, everyone will have 4-5 singles matches on the weekend.
If you lose in a draw, you'll fall down to the one below. So even
if you lose your first 3 matches, you'll still be in another
"playoff" draw with other players.
For doubles, we will play a single elimination draw in all age
groups. *The 10 and under doubles divisions are not listed, so
if you are interested in playing doubles in the 10s, just email the
tournament director with you name and your partner's name, and what
division you're in, and we will enter you after the deadline has
passed!
This year, due to other events in Oxford, we ended up having to
have our event on Easter Weekend. So, in order to help players and
families out some, we are going to begin play Thursday evening
instead of Friday evening. This way we can play a round Thursday
evening, all day Friday, and most of the day Saturday. So that
everyone can be with their family on Easter Sunday.
Ole Miss Tennis is also in town this year, with the men playing
Vandy at 1pm on Friday, the women play MSU at 1pm on Saturday, and
the men play Kentucky on Sunday at 1pm. All of these are huge
matches, especially with the dogs in town on Saturday. We always
love to support our local college teams, so if you're looking for
more tennis on the weekend swing by campus to get your fix in
between your matches!
We also wanted to thank everyone for choosing this tournament as
tournament of the year last year! We will be looking to keep up a
quality event this year and hopefully for many years to come!
