6. Respect and Appreciate the Tennis Volunteers At the Desk and the USTA Umpires These people are there because they love the game and they want to give back to the tennis community They
have challenging tasks in keeping up with all the aspects of running
the site that your junior is playing at – so please be patient – they
will get to your questions Compliment them and say thank you when you see an extra effort
7. Understand the Complexities of Setting Up and Running a Tennis Tournament The
Tournament Director and committee spend hundreds of hours of work
obtaining sites for the tournament, setting up the draws, ensuring there
are enough courts, and scheduling matches to follow USTA Texas rules.
Much time and effort is spend getting tournament sponsors and rounding
up volunteers, officials, and court monitors to run the tournament.
Multiple training sessions are held for officials and site workers to
ensure a high quality experience for players and spectators. Respect
that the deadline to sign up for a tournament is necessary so all this
pre-work can be done in time for a successful and well run tournament.

sustained positive growth by learning through the experience of
preparing and playing in tennis tournaments Your junior will burn out quickly if you put them under pressure to win Instead, encourage learning and growth and having a positive experience Find and work with an experienced tennis professional who demonstrates and follows these principles Tennis
is a “Game for Life” – this is a precious gift you are giving your
Junior – make it a fun journey for them and you’ll have fun, too
10. Have Fun – Enjoy the Experience Yourself Today
will never come again and time will pass quickly – so think of it as
once-in-a-lifetime experience. Your junior will soon grow up fast. Enjoy
the day, even if it seems rushed and challenging – driving to different
sites, rain delays, other parents are poor sports and so forth Other parents are on the same journey – share the experience with them Your junior will learn from your behavior—be a good role model

The Draws Are "UP"--Here's how to find your first round match time...and more!
All 10's orange ball and 10's green ball matches will be played at Samuel Grand Tennis Center on Saturday, August 5. To check your draw or your child's draw, please click on the "DRAWS" tab
and
find your name or your child's name in his or her age group draw and ball color. Please
note that there are multiple draws for most age groups that are named
after famous professional tennis players. The name are random and have no significance other than we like them!
Once you
have found your name or your child's name in the draw (most commonly on
the far left side of the draw under the heading "Round of 32" or, if your child is in a "Round Robin" event under "Round 1"), please
print the draw sheet or carefully note the time of the
first round match. We'd strongly suggest checking your draw on
Friday evening and again on Saturday before you leave for the tournament
to see if there have been any changes in your start time due to players
who withdraw from the tournament.
We'll have more tournament info and a
list of "Top Ten Tips for Smart Tennis Parents" posted in the coming
days...so please come back from time to time and check the website for
updates.

Hey, Orange and Green Ball Players--Let's Play on Saturday, August 5!
General Info: The Ace Tennis Services Challenger is a one day Saturday only USTA sanctioned tournament (that
means we are experienced at running tournaments and use umpires,
referees, and follow all USTA rules!) for 10's orange ball and 10's green
ball--if you want to register for the 12-18's yellow ball Challenger use Tournament ID # 800028617. To play in the Challenger, players must have a USTA
membership--and you can use discount code FYF17CNS for a FREE USTA membership! Use your membership number to register online at usta.com before the
Thursday, July 27 at 11:59 PM deadline. No late entries will be accepted and no waiting list
will be created. (And you may recall the original deadline was Monday, July 24--so we've extended the deadline).
How many matches will you get? All players will play at least two
singles matches against kids in their age group--for example, all Orange Ball Boys 10 and under players will play with each other. The level of players
will range from juniors playing their very first tournament to players
who compete regularly.
Why should you play? Many juniors play Challenger tournaments
to start accumulating points toward qualifying for the Championship
level of play--and they play to "move up" from orange to green ball. Mostly they play because it's fun, good experience and great practice! Complete info on this (and more) is listed below under
the heading "Challenger Information and Schedule". So--whatever YOUR
reason is for playing tennis--be sure to get signed up to play the Ace
Tennis Services Challenger before the Thursday, July 27 deadline! Remember, you'll get at
least two matches, tons of experience...and have some fun, too!
Sites: We
are expecting over 100 orange and green ball players from all over Texas to play this event. Our tentative game plan is to play all the orange and green ball matches at Samuel Grand Tennis Center in Dallas. It's a fantastic site with nice courts, great viewing, and good bathrooms! Directions are noted below. Of course this site could change based on the number of entries, so hang tight until the draws are posted on August 1. You'll get your specific match time
and site location on Tuesday, August 1 by coming back to this
tournament homepage and clicking on the tab "Draws". We'll also be
updating this website on a regular basis, so keep checking back for updates every day or so.
Volunteers Needed: If
you are available to volunteer with the tournament (no experience is
necessary and you can pick your time and site) please email Tournament
Director Sally Frame at sally10s@me.com. Adults and older juniors are
needed to help with a variety of tasks that help make the tournament run
smoothly for the players, parents, and spectators.
10's Monitors Needed: For the 10's in particular we are looking for adults and older juniors who can keep score and know the basics of the rules to be roving on-court monitors during the matches. The monitors will help the players when needed with basic things like keeping score and knowing when to switch sides. Again, if you can spare a couple of hours to be a monitor please email Sally at sally10s@me.com.
Help the Tennis Kids--Be a Sponsor! We're also
looking for community minded individuals, families, and business
sponsors to get "front and center" with Texas' finest tennis families
and support kids and tennis by becoming tournament sponsors. Again,
email Sally at sally10s@me.com for additional details. If you are a
sponsor and would like to be recognized on the official tournament
t-shirt the deadline is July 27 for artwork.
T-Shirt Order Info: Read this part carefully as it's kind of confusing. When you registered for the tournament you were asked your child's t-shirt size. However, there is a big glitch in the USTA online system that does not allow you to pay for a t-shirt online. So, please note that t-shirts are not included in your entry fee. The two ways to get a t-shirt are to 1) Pre-order by August 3 for $10 each, or 2) Buy a shirt during the tournament for $15 each. Our tournament is world famous for our super cool t-shirts, so read the info below about how to order yours!
How to Pre-Order Your Official Tournament T-Shirt: Pre-order your shirt(s) by August 3 at 11:59 PM by emailing sally10s@me.com with your name, size(s), DOB, and cell number. If you pre-order, your shirts are $10 each and will be waiting for you at your site. You can pay when you pick them up on Saturday, August 5--cash or check only please. Quantities are limited so we strongly suggest pre-ordering. Shirts are available in sizes
YM-Adult XXL. Shirts purchased
after August 3 are $15 each. The t-shirt design is posted on the Ace Tennis Services Facebook page--it's super neat. Shirts are high quality white, short sleeved, Dri-Blend t-shirts that run true to size and don't shrink.
Another
fun thing that happens during the tournament is that one deserving boy
or girl will be selected by the umpires, site directors and USTA staff
as the "Sportsmanship" winner. The lucky player selected will win a
free week at John Newcombe's Tennis Ranch in New Branufels, TX in 2018.
Prize value is over $500 and you'll also be recognized on the USTA
website and social media.
So, to summarize:
KEEP CHECKING THIS WEBSITE FOR UPDATES! PRE-ORDER YOUR T-SHIRT BY AUGUST 3: You can pay when you pick it up at your site on August 5. TEXAS JUNIOR POINTS: Challenger Qualifying points.
ELIGIBILITY: This tournament is for all non-qualified Texas
resident junior players.
REGISTRATION: Players must register at their first match playing site 30
minutes prior to start of match.
SCHEDULE OF PLAY: As early as 8:00 am Saturday, but not all players will start at 8 AM. Players will be
expected to play up to three singles matches per day. Match times will be published on August 1.

10 & Under – USTA Texas regulations mandate that all junior sanctioned tournaments offer 10 & Under Orange Ball Division (orange ball, 60 foot court and 25 inch racquet) and 10 & Under Green Ball Division (green ball, 78 foot court and 27 inch racquet). For the full 10 & under regulation, please visit our website www.texas.usta.com, click on 10 & Under Tennis.
|
First-off Consolation – All Challengers and CMZs use the First Off Consolation Format. This format will show as Single Elimination on the tournament homepage, but all players are guaranteed two matches. This format eliminates “maybe matches” and almost every player in consolation will play their first consolation match on Saturday. How does it work? Players that lose in the main draw will be fed into the consolation draw in the order that they come off the court (i.e. the first player to come off the court will go on line one, the sixth player to come off the court will go on line six). This new format ensures more players playing on Saturday and an overall better tournament.
|
Excessive Overrule Guideline: The USTA Texas Officials Committee along with the Competitive Department has established a guideline in reference to excessive overrules as clarified in the Friend at Court. This guideline states "Once a player has been overruled for a second time in a match, they will be cautioned that after another overrule, they will be penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct under the point penalty system."

Inappropriate umpire/spectator communication, whether it be about a ruling or any other facet of a tennis event is prohibited while a match is in progress. Being a parent, coach, etc. does not endow special privileges. With the only exception of the right to remove their own child from competition at any time, a parent or coach is merely a spectator.
|
USTA Texas "No Late Entries" Policy for Juniors Due to a new USTA Texas internal procedure, junior division players will NOT be able to register for a tournament after the online published deadline. We are aware that currently parents reach out via email or phone to the USTA Texas staff and/or tournament director requesting to be manually added to the tournament after online registration has closed. If a player misses the registration deadline, then he/she will not be permitted to participate in that tournament
|
Registration Confirmation: As a parent or player it is your responsibility to assure registration in the event. Regardless if you register on the website or mobile app after completing the registration you should visit the USTA web driven site and confirm your registration by finding the player in the applicants list. If you select to skip this process please be aware that should any malfunctions of the system occur, players will not be granted late entrance in the event due to a system error.
|
No Selection Process. All registered players will be selected.
Entry to this tournament is open to all USTA members. Entries must be submitted by Thursday, July 27, 2017 11:59:00 PM Central Time. Only USTA members can register online if available.
In the future, you can jump straight to this tournament by entering the tournament identification number: 800029017 from the searchable schedule homepage.
