DOUBLES REGISTRATION:
A very important change to note is the correct way to register for doubles online, which will be strictly enforced in 2017 for Doubles Only Champ Major Zones . Players may register with or without a partner. Those who register with a partner must indicate their partner through the online registration system before the entry deadline. Players will need to correctly identify their doubles partner during their initial registration process or they may go back later, prior to the entry deadline, and “Edit Registration” to indicate their partner of choice. Correct doubles registration is the player’s responsibility. Immediately after registering, players need to check the Applicant List to ensure they are registered with their partner of choice (and their partner is also registered with them).

Doubles CMZ Timeline
The entry deadline for the CMZ Doubles is Sunday, November 12th. Players who qualify in the Singles CMZ earlier in November should withdraw from this tournament as they will not be eligible. Players will have a 24 hour grace period after entries have closed to contact the tournament director with any errors in their doubles registration. After that 24 hour grace period, if both players are not registered with each other, then they will become individually registered doubles players and be paired with another individually registered doubles player based on the order of the current Standings list. All players registered individually without a partner will be paired with another individually registered doubles player based on the order of the current Standings List, if a partner is available. DRAWS WILL BE POSTED ON WEDNESDAY, November 15TH.
|
WITHDRAW:
If you need to withdraw at anytime please send an email to Metroplextennis@aol.com for a written confirmation.
|
HOW IS SEEDING DETERMINED:
The seeding for doubles is based on the current Champ Standings List (not
points) in each age group. The ranking of both players were combined to
create a team ranking. For example, if one player is ranked #4 and
another player is ranked #28, their combined ranking is 32. Teams are
placed in order based on this combined ranking. The lower the total
ranking, the higher the seeding.

NEW USTA TEXAS RULE:
NEW! 2017 USTA Texas "No Late Entries" Policy for Juniors Beginning
in 2017, due to a new USTA Texas internal procedure, junior division
players will NOT be able to register for a tournament after the online
published deadline. We are aware that currently parents reach out via
email or phone to the USTA Texas staff and/or tournament director
requesting to be manually added to the tournament after online
registration has closed. This will NO LONGER be allowed beginning with
the January 2017 tournaments. If a player misses the registration
deadline, then he/she will not be permitted to participate in that
tournament

First-off Consolation – All Challengers and CMZs use the First Off Consolation Format. This format will show as Single Elimination on the tournament homepage, but all players are guaranteed two matches. This format eliminates “maybe matches” and almost every player in consolation will play their first consolation match on Saturday. How does it work? Players that lose in the main draw will be fed into the consolation draw in the order that they come off the court (i.e. the first player to come off the court will go on line one, the sixth player to come off the court will go on line six). This new format ensures more players playing on Saturday and an overall better tournament.

Excessive Overrule Guideline: The USTA Texas Officials Committee along with the Competitive Department has established a guideline in reference to excessive overrules as clarified in the Friend at Court. This guideline states "Once a player has been overruled for a second time in a match, they will be cautioned that after another overrule, they will be penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct under the point penalty system."

Inappropriate umpire/spectator communication, whether it be about a ruling or any other facet of a tennis event is prohibited while a match is in progress. Being a parent, coach, etc. does not endow special privileges. With the only exception of the right to remove their own child from competition at any time, a parent or coach is merely a spectator.
