Notes
NO LATE ENTRY ALLOWED INTO THE YEAR-END MASTERS CHAMPIONSHIPS
- EVER!
[Note: Players will not be charged an entry or
processing fee if they are not selected to be in the
tournament.]
NOTE: FINALS WILL BE PLAYED AS BEST OF 3
TIE-BREAK SETS.
POINTS: TX Section: Senior-600.
National: Sectional Championships: 2x.
Limited to USTA Texas Section residents.
Players are allowed to enter up to 5 divisions, but are only
allowed to play in 2 divisions. Players entering more than 2
divisions must email the Tournament Director before the entry
deadline indicating their order of preference for the selection.
That is, which division is the 1st choice; 2nd choice, etc.?
HEADQUARTERS: The Courtyard Tennis & Swim Club; (will be
played at multiple sites), Austin, TX.
2017 ELIGIBILITY RULES AND REQUIREMENTS
1. The top 8 ranked players from each division [and in
levels divisions, players must be eligible - see rule #2] will be
selected based on the 2017 Selection List rankings. This
list will include the prior 12 months calculated to include the
adult sanctioned tournaments played from Sept. 15, 2016 through
Sept. 14, 2017; excluding the Simply the BEST - 2016 Texas Adult
Masters Championships tournament; but will include the 2017 Texas
Adult Sectionals scheduled for Sept. 8-10, 2017.
2. Players must enter online and must enter prior to the
entry deadline to be eligible for this tournament. All players may
enter, but only the top 8 eligible and selected applicants (players
or teams) will be charged the entry fee.
3. ELIGIBILITY for LEVELS divisions: Self Rated and "0.0"
Rated players will not be eligible to play and must have a Year End
Rating to be eligible for this tournament.
THE ONLY EXCEPTIONS: (a) The 2.5 DIVISION, who had to
self-rate to begin playing or have a 0.0 rating. The Tournament
Committee has the right to disqualify any that are playing outside
that level.
(b) If the player was rated as a "T" - Tournament
Exclusive Year End Rating, or an "M" - Mixed Exclusive
Year-end Rating at the end of the prior year, and then became an
"S" Self-rated player in the current year, due to entering
into League play. The player must send an email to request a
"History Verification Waiver Request" to NPerkins@texas.usta.com,
no later than the entry deadline. The player's USTA membership
number should be listed on the waiver request. Requests are not
accepted after the entry deadline due to player selections will
have already begun. The historical rating (T or M) must be the same
level or lower, as the current self rating and entered level. A
waiver request and approval does not guarantee a "top 8" spot in
the tournament, and their online entry is still required no later
than the entry deadline.
The following divisions do not require a rating:
- - - - Men's and Women's Open singles and doubles;
- - - - Mixed Open doubles;
- - - - Men's 25 singles and doubles and Men's and Women's 30
singles and doubles - age divisions;
- - - - Husband and Wife doubles.
4. If there is a tie in eligible points, it will be
brokenfirst by head-to-head play,
- second, by the best win/loss ratio of matches actually
played,
-third, by the highest point win in a single
tournament.
The Tournament Committee shall then use a random drawing among the
remaining tied players to determine their order of entry.
5. Doubles are ranked individually and the top 8 players
(who enter) can pick and choose a partner, but both partners must
enter online before the entry deadline. That chosen partner must
have played in at least one Texas Section sanctioned tournament
within the 12 month ranking year. However, they are not required to
have played with that partner in a TX Section sanctioned
tournament. (Self Rated eligibility rules apply to both partners in
levels divisions.)
6. If a draw does not have 8 eligible, ranked players or
teams, a subcommittee will consider other players that have entered
that division, by the entry deadline that would be age/level
eligible to complete the draw.
7. Each division will be a round robin (pool/play). That is,
each division will be divided by ranking position into two groups
of four, to play a round robin. Winners of each pool, within each
division, then compete for the Championship.
8. All matches, excluding FINALS, will consist of best 2 out
of 3 sets with a match tie-break to determine the 3rd set. FINALS
ONLY WILL BE PLAYED AS BEST OF 3 TIE-BREAK SETS.
REMEMBER - to be able to play, you MUST enter online, no later than
the Entry Deadline. You will not be charged the entry fee or
processing fee unless you are accepted into the tournament. Good
luck!!
Doubles - The Doubles teams are seeded by adding their
rankings together, with the lowest number being seeded #1, the next
lowest ranking when added together are seeded #2, etc.
