On behalf of the Tournament Committee, thank you for your
participation in the 41st Annual Marin Championships! We had
about 300 participants in over 30 categories and awarded $25,000 in prize
money. And despite our unexpected “rain day” we were able to get
everything completed. Your patience was and is greatly appreciated.
We would also like to thank all of our sponsors, including: Platinum
- BMW of San Rafael and Piazza D'Angelo's Ristorante; Gold - Pacific Union; Silver - Eric Altree at Pacific
Union, Law Offices of Weisberg & Miller, Mill Valley Tennis Club, Jenny
Sperry; Official Ball Sponsor - Send
It Foundation; our numerous Banner, Patron
and Site Sponsors, as well as our numerous dedicated volunteers.
Without our sponsors and volunteers, this tournament wouldn’t happen.
Please take a few minutes to complete the tournament
evaluation. Your input can help make us an even a better
tournament. We look forward to seeing you all next year!
Saturday schedule posted
Saturday schedule posted.
Saturday schedule posting - not yet check about 11 pm. Matches start at 8 am
It is 9:07 pm and we are still working on the Saturday and Sunday
schedule. We will send an email/text to tell you when it is posted. It
doesn't do any good to call, because if we had something to tell you
the schedule would be posted. :) We are at least two hours away from
having it up. Matches will start at 8 am, so make sure you look either
later tonight or before 8 in the morning.
Friday Schedule Posted
Thursday Matches Cancelled - Please Read!!!
After absolutely best efforts to get Thursday's schedule played the weather has not cooperated and are having to reschedule. We are securing additional courts and are working on the remaining schedule for all draws in an effort to complete all matches by Sunday. We will clear all times and locations on the draw to reduce confusion as to when matches are rescheduled. Please check the schedule later tonight for the new times and locations. We are doing our best to work around previously known avoidances.
You can find the draws by going to www.marinchampionships.com. Find the tab at the top that says ENTRIES. Scroll down to DRAWS. You can then click on the specific draw you want to see.
ANOTHER WEATHER UPDATE (11:20)
We are now aiming for a 1 pm start time. We are putting the schedule together and will repost the times shortly.
IMPORTANT WEATHER UPDATE (10 AM)
We are pushing back the start time for the 8 am matches to noon. We are working on times for the other matches in an effort to get everything played today. Once we have a confirmed start time, we will be able to post new match times on the draws. Please keep checking back for updates.
IMPORTANT WEATHER UPDATE (6:30 AM)
Based on updated weather reports, morning matches will now be pushed back 2 time slots (8 am will start at 11 am). For afternoon matches, there will be some push back of those times to accommodate all of the matches being delayed this morning but we are working on getting some additional courts this afternoon. We also have extra courts available to use in the evening under the lights at Scott Valley and Harbor Point.
it looks like we won’t be playing until the afternoon, we will be working on a
game plan to complete as much of the Thursday schedule as possible.
Please note that in keeping with the integrity of tournament, we will consider,
among other things, size of draw, completion of draws, avoidances, etc., when rescheduling
for Thursday. Please note that some matches that don’t need to be played on
Thursday may be moved to later in the tournament. We will continue to post periodic updates
on the website as weather and match information becomes available. If you have
questions, please either email or text the Tournament Director – firstname.lastname@example.org;
We appreciate your patience with something we wish, but
IMPORTANT WEATHER UPDATE (4:45 am)
It has started to rain. Currently we are pushing back the tournament start time one time block - i.e. 8:00 am matches would start at 9:30. The weather reports keep changing as to when the rain will end and we will likely need to push the start by at least another time block. We will provide another update in about an hour. Thanks for your patience.
IMPORTANT WEATHER INFORMATION
Weather reports for Thursday are currently predicting rain
for the morning hours. We will be
working on a game plan to complete as much of the Thursday schedule as possible. And, we will do our best to work around the

Draws and Weekend Matches
Draws have been posted for Wednesday through Friday matches.
We have done some mapping of the Saturday and Sunday matches but won’t be able to finalize until the start of the tournament as results and players playing in multiple events impact the scheduling.
If you provided an avoidance prior to the registration closing, please check that it was incorporated.
If you now have a legitimate avoidance, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com with your request. Requests will be considered but can’t be guaranteed that they can be done. Please note that between May 26 and June 3, there may be a delay in response to a request.
Please note that there might be some slight shifts in times for Friday matches based on Thursday results. We have built in some open court times to shift as needed.
If a match day/time needs to change, we will contact the impacted players. We won’t contact players if just the location changes.
For round robins, please check days/times for each round as the rounds may not be in a sequential order.
Please check the draw before you come to play. Please check in at the site where your match is scheduled.

Overall Tournament Schedule
Play begins at 8 AM on Wednesday, June 7 at Mill Valley Tennis Club (MV), Club at Harbor Point (HP), and Scott Valley Swim & Tennis Club (SV). Play continues at all three sites MV, HP, and SV beginning at 8 AM thru Friday, June 9. Beginning Saturday, June 10 at 8 AM all matches will be played at MV (unless otherwise noted). Many Semi-Final matches (and some selected Finals) will be played on Saturday, June 10 at MV. Remaining Finals will be played on Sunday, also at MV. If necessary for scheduling reasons, some Finals may be played during the week. Please check the website each evening for the most up to date times and location for matches the following day. It is anticipated that some age groups will start earlier in the week than others depending on draw size. We will hold round robins for draw sized of 3 or 4.
Please check the website regularly for match start times as well as potential match time and/or location changes. If you have any schedule or time constraints, you must contact the Tournament Director in writing prior to the close of tournament registration. Please email the Tournament Director at email@example.com. We will do our best to accommodate all requests. Once the tournament registration closes, there is no guarantee a scheduling request can be accommodated.
On or before May 28th, we will be posting times and locations for the Wednesday and Thursday matches as well as first round matches for divisions starting on Friday or the weekend. This will allow us some flexibility to work around avoidances and players playing multiple divisions.
Posting of Seeds and Draws
It is anticipated that seeds will start being posted by May 16 with all hopefully being posted by May 18. An email blast will be sent once the draws are posted.
Just a few items to remember: 1. Please check/recheck the draw to confirm your match dates, times and locations. 2. Practice courts: Try Boyle Park, Tam High School, and Strawberry Recreation. 3. Please allow plenty of time to check in to your matches prior to the start time. There can be highway traffic and especially heavy traffic on East Blithedale. We don’t want to have to default players for not planning ahead.
4. We will be using the Coman tiebreak format for all matches. 5. The official ball being used is Penn Championship.

Concurrent Tournament Rule
A player shall not be entered at the time entries close in two or more USTA sanctioned tournaments scheduled to take place at the same time, in whole or in part, unless each Tournament Committee involved understands the situation, concurs in writing, and each agrees to accommodate the player’s schedule. The final decision rests with each tournament committee. If one tournament agrees to accept concurrent entries and accommodate the player's schedule but the concurrent tournament does not, the player may not enter both. If entries for the overlapping tournaments close on different dates, approval must be received from all Tournament Committees no later than the entry closing date that occurs last. Players who enter a tournament and play it to completion, may then enter another tournament with overlapping dates without permission. If a player violates this concurrent tournament rule ranking points earned in any concurrent tournament played will not count toward ranking or the Grand Prix Points Race and the concurrent tournaments will not count toward the minimum tournament requirement to qualify for Grand Prix.
