ACT EXAM ON SATURDAY, JUNE 10TH
Since there is only one round of singles on Saturday, June 10th, and only for unseeded players; we will try to accommodate those who want to take the ACT in Mobile. We rotate annually who plays first. The Boys will play first this year. We will schedule as late as possible, but that will be dependent on whether or not the draws fill. In order to a get full draw on and off the court at a reasonable time, we must use a 1:00 start time. BOYS - Boys will be playing first around 1:00. Therefore, we CANNOT accommodate the writing portion of the exam for the Boys. GIRLS - Girls will be playing second around 2:30. We can accommodate the writing portion of the exam for the Girls. IF OFFERED, DO NOT TAKE THE VOLUNTARY FIFTH TEST. I have contacted ACT and they told me the fifth test is optional because it does not count for anything.
May 5th - Deadline to register for the ACT Reccommended Locations: ---University of South Alabama is closest to the Mobile Tennis Center ---Mobile Christian is the next closest to the Mobile Tennis Center ---Faith Academy or Baker High School would be options for those staying in West Mobile in Hotels off Airport Blvd. ---Murphy High School and Bishop State would be otions for those staying downtown or by the interstate.
From the ACT Website:* Students taking the ACT (no writing) with standard time are normally dismissed about 12:15 p.m.; students taking the ACT with writing are normally dismissed about 1:15 p.m.
* On some test dates, ACT tries out questions to develop future versions of the tests. You may be asked to take a fifth test, the results of which will not be reflected in your reported scores. The fifth test could be multiple-choice or one for which you will create your own answers. Please try your best on these questions, because your participation can help shape the future of the ACT. If you are in a test room where the fifth test is administered, you will be dismissed at about 12:35 p.m.
PLEASE EMAIL ME TO LET ME KNOW IF YOU REGISTER FOR THE ACT EXAM, SO I CAN SCHEDULE YOU AS LATE AS POSSIBLE. There will be a few 1:30 or 2:00 times available for boys, so let me know if you are taking the exam and forward me your registration confirmation. Girls please forward your registration confirmation if you are taking the writing portion of the exam. tennismobile@gmail.com

MATCH CHECK IN PROCEDURES
MATCH CHECK IN RULE:
Regulation IV.A.2 states "A player shall check in at the tournament desk before the scheduled time of each match. The Referee shall designate a place at which players shall check in. A player is not deemed to have arrived until the player checks in at the designated place and the player is properly clothed, equipped, and ready to play. The Referee may penalize a player who is on site for lateness if a court is available and the player has failed to check in at the tournament desk by the scheduled match time." THIS MEANS, IF THERE IS 1 OPEN COURT AT 10:00 AND THERE ARE 3 MATCHES TO
PUT ON, THE REFEREE WILL START THE CLOCK FOR LATENESS FOR ANYONE WHO
HAS NOT CHECKED IN FOR 10:00 - EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH COURTS
FOR ALL 3 MATCHES.
FOR THIS TOURNAMENT: -- The first matches of each day will report directly to the court at
7:45, and balls will be on the court. Matches should begin promptly at
8:00. We call this a "Shotgun Start"
-- In most cases for all matches after 8:00 am, please get in a single-file line at
the tournament desk at least 15 minutes before your scheduled match
time. Do not wait until 9:59 to check in for 10:00. You must go to the
bathroom, fill your water bottle, etc. and be ready to go on court
before you check in. When using block scheduling, we may use the shotgun start for matches after 8:00 am. -- Once you have checked in, you must stay where instructed until
we tell you the court assignment. -- We will be watching the clock for lateness. Please do not ask if
your opponent has checked in - you have other things to think about.
The staff and the Referee will take care of lateness issues, you need
only worry about your own timeliness.

Please note: The trainer has a lot of ground to cover with on-court issues and many people to see off the court. They are not there to give massages due to limited time and lack of privacy; but, they will advise you on various techniques you or your parents can do.
