UPDATES
9/8/17 4:15 - We have had Officials coming from Florida and they have had no problem except for our normal I-10 Bay bridge that always has issues (please lobby your congressman for a new bridge for us). So far no gas shortages or lines. Best advice is to get gas as you enter Mobile; if you need gas during the weekend, get it from a station in town and not close to the interstate; big-box stores tend to run out quicker because that is the first place people go. Florida schools were out today, so we think tomorrow will be the big travel day for Floridians escaping the storm. All that gas that is not going to Florida is plentiful here. Super Target on Schillingers Road has not been busy and it is away from the interstate traffic. Several gas stations are in that same area.
9/7/17 10:00 pm Update: Boys 16 Singles and Girls 16 Singles had some time changes (nothing earlier than original times)

FORMAT OF PLAY
USTA Southern Level 3 tournaments will adhere to a set and consistent format. Taking cost and school day factors into account, the Junior Competition Committee has determined that the Level 3 tournaments will be conducted as follows: - Singles Matches are only to be scheduled on Saturday and Sunday - Each division will consist of two 16 feed in draws, with dependent draws - The draws will be waterfalled to make two balanced draws - USTA Southern will provide the selection list. Players will be selected directly from the USTA Southern Standing list in the age division in which they apply. Players will no longer be considered for selection based on their lower age division standing. - Until Wednesday prior to the tournament start date, alternates will fill in for any withdrawn player - On Wednesday, the tournament director will split the 32 players into two balanced 16 draws using a format supplied by the Southern Office - SEEDING WILL BE DONE STRAIGHT FROM STANDING LIST - After the draws are complete, the next alternate will fill a “withdrawal” spot no matter in which draw the withdrawal occurs - If a seeded player withdraws prior to 9:00 am local time the Friday before the tournament, the seeds shall be adjusted (only in that particular draw) according to FAC - If the withdrawal occurs after 9:00 am local time, the next alternate would be placed on the same line as the withdrawing seed - Out of Section players would be dealt with the same as has been done, only after all of our Section players have been taken care of first - Players will be guaranteed three rounds most will have four (this is dependent on the number of byes, if any). - Singles Draw information: o Two 16 feed in draws with dependent draws (meaning if you lose in consolations, you will play again) o All singles matches will be best of three with a match tiebreak to be used for the third set o If the number of entrants for a division is less than 24, one draw will be made using a modified back draw - Doubles: o One draw of 16 o Pro set to be used

DOUBLES
We will not have contact information for doubles until selections have been made on Monday. You can register without a partner. We will randomly pair anyone who does not have a partner. We do not have facebook for finding partners. Facebook has proven ineffective for finding a partner since a lot of people wait until the last minute to register for the tournament. If you find a partner before 8:00 pm Tuesday (9/5) night, email me your partner's name.
Allowing you to register for doubles without a partner, gives you the opportunity to let others know you are interested in playing doubles increasing your chances of finding a partner. By allowing you to register for doubles without a partner, you have the added responsibility to notify us if you find a partner or you want to be withdrawn. If you do not have a partner or withdraw by 8:00 pm Tuesday (9/5), you are telling us you want to be randomly paired with a partner. Once paired, you are expected to play!
USTA Southern requires players to play the same age division in both singles and doubles.
We will do our best to randomly pair players without partners but we can only do this if there is an even number.
|
BIRTH CERTIFICATE
All players must have a copy of a Birth Certificate or Green Card on file in the Southern office. Players should go to this link to see if their name is on file. If your name does not appear here please Fax your birth certificate to 770-368-9091 or e-mail to howard@sta.usta.com.

* No use of "freaking", "frigging", or "fricking" or variations of such words either spoken or spelled
* No Smoking anywhere on the premises. Premises includes parking lots, bathrooms, and anywhere within 30 feet of a tennis court.

MANDATORY TOURNAMENT CHECK IN:
Mandatory means just that. We are staying until 8:30 pm for your
convenience. We feel strongly that you should be able to make it by
that time.
For those of you that "just cant make it by that time" need to do the following and PLEASE DO NOT CALL and ask for permission to miss check-in:
1- Make sure your entry fee has been paid - check the Tournament Entry Fee Report when posted.
2 - Email or Fax your Medical Release Waiver WITH your CELL phone numbers & HOTEL info completed to 251/208-5195 or tennismobile@gmail.com.
3 - Show up 30 minutes before your match time to check in. Please be patient
with us when checking in, we will be focused on getting matches on and
off the court. Checking in people at this time will be a detriment to
the tournament.
4 - Those of you playing 8:00 am matches at the Mobile Tennis Center
will need to be on your assigned court at 7:45. Make sure you allow
yourself plenty of time.
For most of the day on Saturday we will only have one person checking in players for the
tournament (those that did not come the night before). Obviously this
is not enough to check in everyone 30 minutes before their match times.
If you are not on your court by your assigned match time, you will be
penalized. Because you did not check-in the night before, is no excuse
for being late for your match. We cannot predict if there will be 5
people or 50 people waiting to check in when you do. You cannot play
your match until you have checked in for the tournament. If there is a
line that causes you to be late for your match, unfortunately that will
be your problem that could have been avoided. Therefore, we urge all of
you to check-in on Friday this includes Locals, Commuters and Travelers.
Thank you for your cooperation.

TENNIS PARENT ALERT AND JUNIOR MEDICAL RELEASE FORM
USTA requires a medical release SIGNED BY THE PARENT OR GUARDIAN for
every player. This form must be presented at the time of tournament
registration. Please download and bring this completed form with you, email it to tennismobile@gmail.com, or fax
to 251-208-5195 to speed up the registration process. When sending the form via email or fax, please make sure you send both completed pages. Players are
not allowed on court without this signed release:

MATCH CHECK IN PROCEDURES
1 - The first matches of each day will report directly to the court at
7:45, and balls will be on the court. Matches should begin promptly at
8:00. We call this a "Shotgun Start"
2 - In most cases for all matches after 8:00 am, please get in a single-file line at
the tournament desk at least 15 minutes before your scheduled match
time. Do not wait until 9:59 to check in for 10:00. You must go to the
bathroom, fill your water bottle, etc. and be ready to go on court
before you check in. When using block scheduling, we may use the shotgun start for matches after 8:00 am. 3 - Once you have checked in, you must stay where instructed until
we tell you the court assignment. 4 - We will be watching the clock for lateness. Please do not ask if
your opponent has checked in - you have other things to think about.
The staff and the Referee will take care of lateness issues, you need
only worry about your own timeliness.

trainer. If you need to withdraw due to injury or illness, the process
will be much smoother if we have confirmation from the trainer. Without
confirmation, or a written doctors excuse by the end of the tournament,
you may incur suspension points for leaving. Remember if you withdraw
during the tournament, you must see the Head Referee in person or it
will count as a "No Show"
