NEW BALANCE HIGHSCHOOL TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP, PRESENTED BY USTA
The
New Balance High School Tennis Championship, presented by USTA, is a tournament
for the best interscholastic tennis players in the country and is held at
Harvard University in Cambridge, MA from July 25-28, 2016. All entrants MUST
have participated on their respective varsity high school teams during the
2015-16 school year. On July 28th the tournament will honor one boy
and one girl as the New Balance High School Tennis Champion. There are no
National or Sectional USTA points awarded for this tournament. This is a
national-level event and is listed on the USTA national schedule.

ON-SITE ALTERNATES (updated: July 26)
There will be sign-in for on-site alternates prior to play on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. To be considered as an on-site alternate, please sign in on site and be ready to play. Sign in will close at 7:30AM. The on-site alternate list will be ordered by current UTR.

TRANSPORTATION (updated 7/25; 10:40 PM)
Buses will be running from 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM. Buses make pick-ups and drop-offs on 15 minute intervals at the entrance of Jordan Field (NOT at the loop in front of the tennis center). Traffic to and from the tennis center is variable, so please board the bus 45 minutes to an hour before your desired arrival time.

PRACTICE COURTS (updated 7/22)
On Sunday, July 24th, practice courts will be available at Harvard's Beren Tennis Center starting at 5PM. On Saturday (23rd) and Sunday (24th) and during the tournament, practice courts are available at Harvard's indoor tennis facility at The Murr Center. These courts are in walking distance of the match courts. Six courts will be available on a first come - first serve basis. Additionally, the M.I.T. tennis courts will be open for practice on Saturday and Sunday.

PLAYER CREDENTIALS
Players will be provided with credentials. Please be sure to keep these credentials with you at all times.

TOURNAMENT SIGN-IN & REGISTRATION (updated 7/22)
sign-in and registration will begin at the Cambridge Hyatt Regency in the William Dawes conference room at 3:00 PM on Sunday, July 24th.

LOCATION: BEREN TENNIS CENTER AT HARVARD UNIVERSITY
This state-of-the-art center boasts 18 courts, six of which feature
stadium seating. The center which accommodates nearly 500 spectators features a
two-tiered pavilion with locker rooms, a media center, offices and court
viewing areas. Combined with the six indoor courts at the Murr Center, the
nationally ranked Harvard University tennis teams have perhaps the finest
facilities of any team in the Northeast.

SPECIAL WILDCARD OPPORTUNITY INTO AN ITF EVENT
Champions of the New Balance High School Tennis
Championship, presented by USTA, will be awarded WILDCARDS into the main draw
of the ITF GRADE 1 International Hard Court Championships held in College Park,
Maryland.

SELECTION PROCESS AND SEEDING
The most readily available and effective ratings
system along with fair geographic distribution will be used to determine the
selections. Seeding for this tournament will be based on the Universal Tennis Rating
(UTR) system. Results from this tournament will be imported into the UTR system. To learn more about the Universal Tennis

TROPHIES & AWARDS
Custom
Tiffany’s Trophies will be presented to the Main Draw Champion and Finalist. Sportsmanship awards will also be presented to
one boy and one girl.

COLLEGE RECRUITING
During
the weekend prior to competition, July 23rd-24th, Harvard
will be hosting a College Showcase Event presented by Tim Donovan. For more

NIGHTLY ACTIVITIES & EVENTS
Each
night, we will be providing dinner for the players along with fun outings and
activities. Players will get the chance
to check out the NEW BALANCE HEADQUARTERS, and visit FENWAY PARK for a Red Sox
game vs. the Detroit Tigers! The USTA
and New Balance are excited to have the opportunity to expose the players to
new experiences in Boston. These events are exclusive to players only, who will
be supervised by the Tournament staff.
Transportation is provided to and from the host hotel.

HOSPITALITY & LUNCH
Player
lunches will be provided daily in the Players’ Lounge.
|
STRINGING
Racket string will be provided on site for $20 with your own string. String can also be purchased on site.
|
Players are selected manually by the tournament director after the close of registration.
Entry to this tournament is open to all USTA members. Entries must be submitted by Sunday, June 26, 2016 11:59:00 AM Eastern Time. Only USTA members can register online if available.
