Draws and Match times
Players are to report directly to their site A MINIMUM of 30 minutes prior to their match time. Players will be penalized according to the Code for lateness. Heavy traffic is NOT an excuse for lateness. The waterfall method for developing draws and seedings were based on the latest North Carolina Tennis Standings released on February 29, 2016.
|

|
Draw types with less than 24 players
Events with 9-23 players will play a regular 32 draw with byes and will play a Feed-In (through Quarterfinals) and there will be a playoff for 3rd and 4th place. Consolation finals will NOT be played out. Both players who reach the finals of consolation will receive the same number of ranking points.
|
Draw Limits and Selection Process
Draws are limited to 32 players per age division and selections will be made from the most up to date North Carolina Standings List.
|
Waterfall System
Taking cost and school day factors into account, this allows tournaments to be completed in just two days and provides players with the opportunity to possibly earn more ranking points. Draws will be limited to 32 players per age division. Each division that has 24 or more players will be split into two separate draws. Players will then be "waterfalled" into two balanced draws based on the selection lists in the following order: Red: 1,4,5,8,9,12,13,16,17,20,21,24,25,28,29,32. White: 2,3,6,7,10,11,14,15,18,19,22,23,26,27,30,31. Selections will be made using the most up to date NC Standings. Seeds will be determined using NCTA Seeding Criteria after the waterfall is done. The format is FIC (Feed-In Consolation through QF). All matches will play a 10-point match tiebreaker instead of a full 3rd set. There will be a playoff for 3rd and 4th place. Consolation finals will NOT be played out. Both players who reach the finals of consolation will receive the same number of ranking points.
|
Singles Play
Singles play will not begin before Saturday at 8am.
|
12U Division
Players will not be allowed to compete in a North Carolina Level 3 tournament in the 12U division unless they have accumulated at least 300 ranking points in North Carolina at the time selections are made. The North Carolina Junior Tournament Committee put this rule in place to be sure that players are developing properly in the correct pathway (from 10U Orange). All North Carolina state L4s and L5s use green ball in the 12s, so the player has to earn their way into a North Carolina L3 in 12U yellow ball.
|
Boys and Girls 10s
The 10s division for this tournament will play on a 60' court using ORANGE compression balls. Racquets cannot be longer than 25". Matches are best-of-three 4 game sets (TB at 4-all), AD scoring, with a 7 point tiebreak instead of a third set.
|
Boys Girls 12-18s
Players will use the yellow ball in 12s-18s for this tournament and will play best 2 out of 3 sets with tiebreak in lieu of third set.

Great Sports Event!
This tournament is a Great Sports Event
Tennis comes with a bloodline of
sportsmanship that few other sports can match. Even though there are
officials roving the courts, it is still an un-officiated sport.
* Always
give the benefit of doubt to your opponent on a close line call.
* Make
calls against yourself, such as a double-bounce or touching the net while
the point is in progress.
* Call
out the score every point.
* Congratulate
your opponent on great shots.
* Parents
– be good sports outside the court.
* And
win or lose, end the match with a removal of hats and a handshake at the
net!
To reward the good sports at our
tournament the officials or directors will be handing out pins to players who
exhibit great sportsmanship and uphold the tradition of honor in our
sport.
Good luck to everyone!
|
Awards
Awards will be presented to the winner and finalist of each event.
