The Draws are "UP"
The draws are "up" and we hope that you are getting excited about the Canyon Creek Challenger Tournament this weekend! Please read all the info on this website--(scroll down, down, down for the site locations, maps and site addresses) and keep checking for updates and any changes in your draw. In particular, we'd advise you to check your draw late-ish on Friday night and then again on Saturday morning as last minute player withdrawals are common. If you have any questions about the Canyon Creek Challenger please email Tournament Director Sally Frame at sallyf@canyoncreektennis.com. Good Luck and we'll look forward to seeing you on Saturday! PS--don't forget to order to pre-order your official tournament t-shirt by Thursday at 6 PM...it's a good one!

Tournament Checklist #1: Pre-Order Your T-Shirt (It's NOT included in your entry fee!)
Pre-order your official tournament t-shirt before Thursday, August 4 at 6 PM for only $10 per shirt! To see the design, click on MORE INFO below. It's incredibly easy to order--simply email sallyf@canyoncreektennis.com with your child's name, age and the quantity and sizes of shirts you'd like to purchase and we'll have them waiting for you at your first match site on Saturday, August 6--and you can pay when you pick them up by either cash or check. A little background information--It's a tradition that the Canyon Creek Challenger tournament offers a super cool official commemorative t-shirt for sale to players, parents and coaches. Most tournaments do not do this, so it's super special! And by the way, if you wait until the tournament starts the very same shirt will cost you $15. Sizes available are Youth M through Adult XXL. Shirts are white, high quality 50% cotton/50% poly dri-blend and run true to size. Make sure to buy a shirt for your coach, too!

Tournament Checklist #2: Find Your Name In The Draw, Your Site, and First Round Match Time
First of all, we are playing at 7 sites on Saturday and 3 sites on Sunday, so not all 500+ players will be competing at Canyon Creek Country Club! To find out where and when you play, click on DRAWS on the tournament web site. Look for your age group in boys or girls as appropriate. Find your name in the draw. There will be multiple draws for each age group with different color or name designations - so check each one for your name. The colors and names don't mean anything in particular--they are random names. Carefully note the location code and time by the first match that you will play - normally on the far left of the draw sheet between your name and the name of your opponent. The site you play at will be a 3 or 4 letter code and the key to the code is listed below with address and maps. Match the code to the location information on this web site. Plan to arrive at your match location and check in with the tournament desk ready to play at least 30 minutes before your first match and at least 15 minutes before for all other matches. Use the time to get familiar with the site. Once you check in you must stay close to the tournament desk so that when your name is called you will hear it. The tournament staff will not come out into the parking lot or bathrooms to find you--you must stay close to the desk after you check in or penalties for lateness will apply if you are checked in and not available to play when your match is called. Again, the tournament takes place at 7 sites over the weekend so it is important to double check your time and location. It would be smart to check your draw again on Friday night and again Saturday morning before you leave your house just in case there are last minute changes due to player withdrawals. You are responsible for arriving on time at the correct location - no exceptions. The USTA Point Penalty Schedule for Lateness will be strictly enforced. All players will be required to say the USTA Player Oath before their first match--see below if you want to practice.
|
Important Reminders
As you know, it's going to be hot this weekend. Be sure to wear a hat, sunscreen, bring a big water jug, drink lots and lots of water and sports drinks, and it may even be smart to bring a cooler with ice in it. If you are unable to participate in the tournament please email sallyf@canyoncreektennis.com with your name, the specific draw age group and color you are in, and your reason for withdrawing.

|
10 & Under – USTA Texas regulations mandate that all junior sanctioned tournaments offer 10 & Under Orange Ball Division (orange ball, 60 foot court and 25 inch racquet) and 10 & Under Green Ball Division (green ball, 78 foot court and 27 inch racquet). For the full 10 & under regulation, please visit our website www.texas.usta.com, click on 10 & Under Tennis.
|
First-off Consolation – All Challengers and CMZs use the First Off Consolation Format. This format will show as Single Elimination on the tournament homepage, but all players are guaranteed two matches. This format eliminates “maybe matches” and almost every player in consolation will play their first consolation match on Saturday. How does it work? Players that lose in the main draw will be fed into the consolation draw in the order that they come off the court (i.e. the first player to come off the court will go on line one, the sixth player to come off the court will go on line six). This new format ensures more players playing on Saturday and an overall better tournament.
|
Excessive Overrule Guideline: The USTA Texas Officials Committee along with the Competitive Department has established a guideline in reference to excessive overrules as clarified in the Friend at Court. This guideline states "Once a player has been overruled for a second time in a match, they will be cautioned that after another overrule, they will be penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct under the point penalty system."

Inappropriate umpire/spectator communication, whether it be about a ruling or any other facet of a tennis event is prohibited while a match is in progress. Being a parent, coach, etc. does not endow special privileges. With the only exception of the right to remove their own child from competition at any time, a parent or coach is merely a spectator.
