Notes
CONDITIONS OF PLAY:
Singles matches will be
scheduled on Saturday and Sunday with Doubles matches to be
scheduled to start Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Each division will consist of two 16 feed in draws, with dependent
draws
- The draws will be waterfalled to make two balanced draws
- Each draw will use the new Level 3 Point table (increased
points)
- Selections will remain the same as in the past. The top 32
players will be selected using the same process for bringing in the
lower age division (four from the top 40)
- Up until Wednesday prior to the tournament start date, alternates
will fill in for any withdrawn player. On Wednesday, the tournament
director will split the 32 players into two balanced 16 draws using
a format supplied by the Southern office
- Seeding must be done using the Southern Seeding Calculator
- After the draws are complete, the next alternate will fill a
"withdrawal" spot no matter in which draw the withdrawal occurs. If
a seeded player withdraws prior to 9:00 am local time the Friday
before the tournament, the seeds shall be adjusted (only in that
particular draw) according to FAC. If the withdrawal occurs after
9:00 am local time, the next alternate would be placed on same line
as withdrawing seed
- Out of Section players would be dealt as has been done in the
past, only after all of our Section players have been taken care of
first.
- In the 12s division, four players from the 10s division will be
selected by the guidelines but these players will not be considered
for seeding
- In the 11s division, 1 player from the 10s division will be
selected by the guidelines but this player will not be considered
for seeding. To register for the 11s you will need to go to the 12s
age division and select "green dot".
Please note that only a total of 8 players for the boys and 8
players for the girls will be selected for this division. Players
selected for this division are handled by the Southern Office.
Please note there will be no more than 8 players allowed in this
division and selection is based on the Southern Office and will be
following the guidelines of the "earned advancement
policies".
Point Table:
- The new Level 3 point table will be used starting January 1,
2014
Draw information:
- Two 16 feed in draws with
consolation draws.
- All singles matches will be best of two sets with a match
tiebreak to be used for the third set. U10 singles will be short
scoring, 2/3 sets, no ad, tiebreak 3rd set.
- If the number of entrants for a division is less than 24, one
draw will be made using a modified back draw.
- Doubles for age groups 12s-18s (except 11s) will be a single draw
with a maximum of 16 teams taken per age group.
-11s Doubles will be a round robin of 4 teams playing 3
times.
- Doubles matches for BG11s-18s age groups will be a pro-set with a
7 pt. tie-break at 8/8.
- Doubles for 10s will be a single set with a 7 pt. tie-break at
6/6.-- NO AD SCORING
SURFACES:
Boys and Girls 10's, 11's, 12's, 16's and
18's are played on hard courts. Boys and Girls 14's are played on
clay. Due to inclement weather, the referee has the right to use
additional surfaces at his/her discretion. Due to inclement
weather, no- ad scoring may be used for all matches at the
discretion of the referee.
TIMES:
Singles play begins on Saturday, August 6th.
First match start times are posted on-line Thursday, August 4th.
Daily, players are to report to their respective match sites 30
minutes before their scheduled matches. The first points (not warm
ups) on Saturday begin at 8:00 am. Doubles matches will begin
Friday August 5th at 5:00 pm.
ELECTRONIC DEVICES PROHIBITED ON COURT:
Players may not
use electronic devises on court that are designed for communication
(I-watch, cell phones, pda's, etc.) or data storage/display (pocket
notebook, rolodex, word processor, etc.). Use of these devices will
result in immediate code violation for unsportsmanlike conduct. (A
device that is in the "ON" mode constitutes use.) Notes and printed
material brought on court for reference with a player are
permitted.
TOURNAMENT BALL:
WILSON will be the official ball of
the tournament.
BIRTH CERTIFICATES:
All players must have a copy of a
Birth Certificate or Green Card on file in the Southern
office.
THE CODE:
In matches without an official on court,
players are expected to follow The Code. If you've never read it,
please do so.
LATE ENTRIES:
Anyone wanting to enter the tournament
after registration closes, has to email
tennis.office@racquetclubofmemphis.com. If there are alternates in
the division you wish to enter, late entries go below all other
alternates, regardless of ranking. You have with in 24 hours after
the registration is closed to do so. The tournament will charge an
additional $25 in addition to the tournament fee for any late
entries. PLEASE NOTE the tournament director reserves the right to
not accept any late entries for any reason.
ON SITE ALTERNATES:
On- Site Alternates must CHECK-IN
at the OFFICIAL TOURNAMENT CHECK-IN on Friday, August 5th. The
official On-Site Alternate List for each age group is ordered
according to the Official Alternate List posted in the weeks
leading up to the event. On-Site Alternates MUST CHECK-IN Saturday
morning with the referee at the respective sites (14's at Racquet
Club, 12's at RHODES, etc). After this it is a waiting game. If a
player does not show up for his/her FIRST match or withdraws before
playing his/her FIRST match, the first player on the On-Site
Alternate List is notified. On-Site alternates must be ON-SITE when
called, or the next player on the On-Site list is notified.
TRAINER: This tournament does provide a trainer. The trainer
is located at Rhodes College during tournament play.

STRINGING:
This year the tournament will have two different stringers both of
which are USRSA certified.
RULES AND REGULATIONS:
This is a USTA sanctioned event and as such will follow the USTA
Handbook FRIEND AT COURT 2016.
Tournament reserves the right to move any age group or surface
to indoor hardcourts due to weather or lighting issues.
Player Selection TypePlayers are selected manually by the tournament director after the close of registration.
Entry TypeEntry to this tournament is restricted. Please consult your Section or District rules and regulations for entry requirements for this tournament. If you enter this tournament and are not eligible, any refund is as the discretion of the Tournament Director. Only USTA members can register online if available.
