** CHECK DRAWS ** CHECK DRAWS ** CHECK DRAWS **
Due to the late day rain and many players playing multiple events, finishing the draws for tomorrow is proving difficult. We have had to change a few matches and may have missed contacting a few people. Please check the draws closely after 11 PM Wednesday night or early Thursday morning. I should have them all completed and online. Thanks.

** HOT TEMPS ** FLUIDS !!! GEAR !!! TOWELS !!! PLAYERS RESPONSIBILITY **
This is a summer tournament, so bring LOTS of water or sports drink with you. Our rule of thumb is to have a MINIMUM of a gallon of fluids with you on court per match. Parents - that is A GALLON PER MATCH, MINIMUM !!! We suggest you buy a couple of 1 gallon jugs, ($5 each at Wal-Mart) which provides one gallon for back up in case of a long match. Players will go thru a gallon an hour on a hot day!!! Keep the backup full of ice and fluids so you can hand to your player on a changeover. Bring your own towels with you, 2 to 4 or more, when it is hot players can sweat profusely. The tournament does not supply anything outside of the tennis balls and courts. PLAYERS are responsible.for their own rackets, shoes, hats, socks, tape, Band-Aids, grips, clothing, towels, fluids, etc.

TOURNAMENT LOCATION
The tournament will be played on the varsity courts at Olentangy High School, address listed above. We are directly behind the OSU Family Med Center and Kroger's Super Center on State Route 23, eight miles due north of the I-270 outerbelt. Kroger is helpful being nearby, and many things for an athlete are available for purchase at Kroger should you forget something.

FORMAT, TEE SHIRTS AND TROPHIES
The tournament will be FMLC - first match losers consolation, so everyone should have a minimum of 2 matches. We will play best of three sets, with advantage (regular) scoring. We will use the MATCH TIE BREAK in place of a full third set when players split the first 2 sets. Match tie break uses the same rules as a set tie break - except that the winner of the match is the first player to reach 10 points, by a 2 point margin. Every registered player will receive a tee shirt for participating in the tourny. Trophies will be awarded to first second and third places in singles. There will be a third place play off match in each division. Back draw singles champion will also receive a trophy.

TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR AND STRINGING
The Tournament Director is Arnie Jones, all contact information is listed above. This tournament is a fund raiser for the Olentangy Boys and Girls Tennis Teams for their upcoming seasons. All proceeds are going to help the teams with uniforms, balls and court maintenance. Alann Leinwohl will be available for stringing, should you need assistance with your racket.

REGISTRATION AND SANCTIONED EVENTS
Please register early !!! No one will be charged until the day before the tournament starts, so do it as soon as possible. AXIOM - More players registered early, attracts more players, making the tournament all the better for everyone. The junior singles and doubles are both sanctioned for this event. You will receive USTA Midwest points for each match won, which will help determine, and raise, each players current ranking.

GENERAL SCHEDULE - MULTIPLE DAILY MATCHES
We will begin play Monday, and each day following, at 9 AM. The divisions with the largest number of players will generally play first. We will begin the tournament on Monday in an attempt to finish the tournament in three days, four at the most, so all matches are completed by Thursday. We want to make it possible for players to also be able to enter another tournament on the weekend, with those other tournaments usually beginning on Friday afternoon. BE PREPARED TO PLAY AT LEAST 2 MATCHES A DAY. Weather is our big unknown, plus the most difficult factor to overcome, so we allow lots of leeway in the dates scheduled in order to get all the matches completed.
|
EQUIPMENT AND GEAR
Each player is responsible for their own equipment and gear. You should have a minimum of at least one strung racket as a back up. If a string breaks, you are responsible for having a second racket to continue play. The tournament has no extras to give you. You are responsible for your own gear: wraps, grips, string, first aid kits, Band Aids, extra tee shirts, blister pads, etc. The tournament has none to provide to you.
