IMPORTANT INFORMATION
- This is a Southern Level 2 Tournament - You may enter Two (2) Divisions in this tournament in hopes of getting into the older division. You will only be selected for one singles event. Up to 8 applicants will be selected for the older division based on their younger standing, if it is in the top 80. If you absolutely do not want to play the younger division, do not register for it. You should only register for two singles divisions if you are willing to play either division. Your younger age standing will still be considered if you only register for the older division. - You may not enter a different age division in doubles than your singles. This gets confusing when registering for doubles if you have registered for two singles divisions, and you do not know which age singles you will be selected. We have allowed extra time to arrange a doubles partner by Monday, October 10th. Email any communication regarding doubles entries, changes, or withdrawals to tennismobile@gmail.com - no phone calls please. - The Selection Process DOES include the selection of 1/8 from the Younger Age Group - Airport is called Mobile Regional Airport (MOB). Pensacola, FL and Gulfport, MS have airports within an hour from Mobile - Mobile is in the Central Time Zone - Please read all of the information provided on the website. It is a lot to scroll through but will probably answer any questions you might have. - Both Singles and Doubles times will be posted in the Future Match Info Report on 10/13 in the evening. Singles times are listed first even though doubles starts on Friday. - On Tuesday, 10/11, PLEASE CHECK THE DOUBLES COMPETITORS LIST TO MAKE SURE YOUR PAIRING IS CORRECT - Email any other questions to tennismobile@gmail.com - this is the best form of communication. With such a short amount of time between registration closing and the start of the tournament, answering and returning phone calls is nearly impossible. Emails can be answered much quicker and at any time during the day or night. - Regarding 2016 Southern Updates, click here for

Each player is responsible for finding his or her own partner and MUST register prior to the doubles deadline. Suggestions for getting contact info: meet people at other tournaments and ask them for contact info, find people via your own facebook page, or call state usta offices. We want everyone to play doubles if they wish, but the time frame does not permit our assistance in helping you find a doubles partner for this level of tournament.
|
WITHDRAWALS:
Withdrawal Prior to Entry Deadline:
Go to the Tournament website, under "EDIT REGISTRATION" on the right
side of your screen, select "Withdraw". From there you can withdraw. If you
do not know your Confirmation #, then select "Locate Confirmation" just

There are No refunds after 10/6/16. Refunds will only be given with proper documentation and valid excuse and may take 4 weeks to process. See procedures below for receiving a refund. Defaulting during the tournament:

Mobile Tennis Center. Do not tell just anyone at the desk and think you have
properly defaulted. Unless you speak to the Head Referee in person, it
will count as a "No Show." WE WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY WITHDRAWALS OVER THE
PHONE!
If the player is not playing because of an injury or illness, the
player shall provide written verification of the injury or illness from
a medical professional no later than the last scheduled day of the
tournament OR a visit with the onsite trainer will suffice.
|

If you withdraw after registration closes, you may be eligible for refund. A player shall not withdraw from a tournament after entries close except for illness, injury, or personal emergency. If the player is not playing because of an injury or illness, the player shall provide written verification of the injury or illness from a medical professional no later than the last scheduled day of the tournament. If the player is not playing because of a personal emergency, the player shall provide a written explanation of the situation to the Referee no later than the last scheduled day of the tournament. The Referee shall determine whether the situation is a personal emergency. FYI - a personal emergency does not include "my parents can't get off work" or "I have a vacation planned."
In order to receive a refund, you must notify the tournament immediately of your withdrawal no later than 10/06/16. Then, YOU MUST MAIL IN A SELF-ADDRESSED STAMPED ENVELOPE with your medical excuse or emergency explanation. Please mail to MATA, 851 Gaillard Drive, Mobile, AL 36608. |
MANDATORY TOURNAMENT CHECK IN:
Mandatory means just that. We are staying until 9:00 pm for your
convenience. We feel strongly that you should be able to make it by
that time. Only the player can check him/herself in, do not send someone in your place. For those of you who "just cant make it by that time" need to do the following and please do not call and ask for permission to miss check-in:
1- Make sure your entry fee has been paid - check the Tournament Entry Fee Report when posted.
2 - Email or Fax in your Medical Release Waiver WITH your CELL phone numbers & HOTEL info completed to 251/208-5195.
3 - Show up 30 minutes before your match time to check in. Please be patient
with us when checking in, we will be focused on getting matches on and
off the court. Checking in people at this time will be a detriment to
the tournament.
4 - Those of you playing 8:00 am matches at the Mobile Tennis Center
will need to be on your assigned court at 7:45. Make sure you allow
yourself plenty of time.
For most of the day on Saturday we will only have one person checking in players for the
tournament (those that did not come the night before). Obviously this
is not enough to check in everyone 30 minutes before their match times.
If you are not on your court by your assigned match time, you will be
penalized. Because you did not check-in the night before, is no excuse
for being late for your match. We cannot predict if there will be 5
people or 50 people waiting to check in when you do. You cannot play
your match until you have checked in for the tournament. If there is a
line that causes you to be late for your match, unfortunately that will
be your problem that could have been avoided. Therefore, we urge all of
you to check-in on Friday this includes Locals, Commuters and Travelers.
Thank you for your cooperation.

TENNIS PARENT ALERT AND JUNIOR MEDICAL RELEASE FORM

every player. This form must be presented at the time of tournament
registration. Please download and bring this completed form with you or fax
to us (251-208-5195) to speed up the registration process. Players are
not allowed on court without this signed release:

USTA SOUTHERN SEEDING PROCESS
In an effort to provide greater transparency and understanding of how USTA Southern
seeds will be determined for USTA Southern L 1, 1A and 2 events, FAC (Friend at Court)
method II.A.4.b., which provides for a computerized system of rankings or standings. The
Junior Competition Committee approved the chart that the Tournament Seeding
Committees, with assistance from the USTA Southern staff, shall utilize to determine
seedings.
Lower level USTA Southern L 3, 4 & 5 events and State events below USTA Southern L 1-2
events, may choose between FAC seeding methods II.A.4.a., which provides for an All
Factors Method, or II.A.4.b., which provides for a computerized system of rankings or
standings and shall be published. Criteria to be considered: Players who have a standing in the next younger age division, Players with a current top 50 USTA National standing, top 100 ITF ranking, top 1000 ATP or WTA rankings. When calculating 12U seeds, the 10U standings are not considered. Revised: June 5, 2015
Seedings shall be prepared by the Southern Office at the time they prepare the selection list.
DOUBLES SEEDING CRITERIA • Teams shall be seeded in the order of their combined standings (e.g., Player A holds the #1 standing and Player B holds the #10 standing. The Team of A & B would have combined standing of 11.) Teams that have the same combined standing shall be seeded in the order of the total number of Ranking points held by each team • Players with current top 50 USTA National standing, top 100 ITF ranking, top 1000 ATP or WTA rankings may be considered for seeding

MATCH CHECK IN PROCEDURES
1 - The first matches of each day will report directly to the court at
7:45, and balls will be on the court. The court assignments will be posted on the big Court Assignment board. Matches should begin promptly at
8:00. We call this a "Shotgun Start"
2 - In most cases for all matches after 8:00 am, please get in a single-file line at
the tournament desk about 15 minutes before your scheduled match
time. Do not wait until 9:59 to check in for 10:00. You must go to the
bathroom, fill your water bottle, etc. and be ready to go on court
before you check in. When using block scheduling, we may use the shotgun start for matches after 8:00 am. Listen for announcements throughout the day regarding match check in. 3 - Once you have checked in, you must stay where instructed until
we tell you the court assignment. 4 - We will be watching the clock for lateness. Please do not ask if
your opponent has checked in - you have other things to think about.
The staff and the Referee will take care of lateness issues, you need
only worry about your own timeliness.
