FAQ
- This is a Southern Level 3 Tournament - You may enter Two (2) Divisions in this tournament in hopes of getting into the older division. You will only be selected for one singles event. 4 applicants will be selected for the older division based on their younger standing, if it is in the top 40. If you absolutely do not want to play the younger division, do not register for it. You should only register for two singles divisions if you are willing to play either division. - The Selection Process DOES include the selection of 1/8 from the Younger Age Group - ALL SINGLES PLAYERS WILL HAVE AT LEAST 3 ROUNDS! WIN OR LOSE, CHECK THE DESK AND/OR DRAWS TO FIND YOUR NEXT MATCH TIME. (Please note a Round may be a bye - we will do our best to have 3 rounds of actual play but it will depend on the number of byes.) - Airport is called Mobile Regional Airport (MOB). Pensacola, FL and Gulfport, MS have airports within an hour from Mobile - Mobile is in the Central Time Zone - Please read all of the information provided on the website. It is a lot to scroll through but will probably answer any questions you might have. - Both Singles and Doubles times will be posted in the Future Match Info Report on 9/08 in the evening. - On Wednesday, 9/07, PLEASE CHECK THE DOUBLES COMPETITORS LIST TO MAKE SURE YOUR PAIRING IS CORRECT - Email any other questions to tennismobile@gmail.com - this is the best form of communication. With such a short amount of time between registration closing and the start of the tournament, answering and returning phone calls is nearly impossible. Emails can be answered much quicker and at any time during the day or night.

FORMAT OF PLAY
Beginning January 1, 2012, all USTA Southern Level 3 tournaments will adhere to a set and consistent format. Taking cost and school day factors into account, the Junior Competition Committee has determined that the Level 3 tournaments will be conducted as follows: - Singles Matches are only to be scheduled on Saturday and Sunday - Each division will consist of two 16 feed in draws, with dependent draws - The draws will be waterfalled to make two balanced draws - Selections will remain the same as in the past. The top 32 players will be selected using the same process for bringing in the lower age division (four from the top 40) - Until Wednesday prior to the tournament start date, alternates will fill in for any withdrawn player - On Wednesday, the tournament director will split the 32 players into two balanced 16 draws using a format supplied by the Southern Office - Seeding must be done using the Southern Seeding Calculator - After the draws are complete, the next alternate will fill a “withdrawal” spot no matter in which draw the withdrawal occurs - If a seeded player withdraws prior to 9:00 am local time the Friday before the tournament, the seeds shall be adjusted (only in that particular draw) according to FAC - If the withdrawal occurs after 9:00 am local time, the next alternate would be placed on the same line as the withdrawing seed - Out of Section players would be dealt with the same as has been done, only after all of our Section players have been taken care of first - Players will be guaranteed three rounds most will have four (this is dependent on the number of byes, if any). - Singles Draw information: o Two 16 feed in draws with dependent draws (meaning if you lose in consolations, you will play again) o All singles matches will be best of three with a match tiebreak to be used for the third set o If the number of entrants for a division is less than 24, one draw will be made using a modified back draw - Doubles: o One draw of 16 o Pro set to be used

**** Amended criteria for 11 & Under Green Ball play for Level 3 tournaments
Starting March 1, 2016, the “benchmark” in the 11 & Under division has been eliminated. Now, as long as age eligible, a player may play 10 & under orange ball, 11 & under green ball, or 12 & under yellow ball. Beginning in early April, standings for the 11U division were posted in TennisLink, and minor changes have been made to the 10U standings as well. The 11U standings include all age-eligible 11U players, regardless of whether or not they have played in an 11U tournament, and these standings are being used for selection and seeding for the STA L3 tournaments. Moving forward, results from 11u STA L3 tournaments are only being counted in the 11U and 10U standings for Southern, and they have been awarded full credit for points earned in both of these divisions. The lower division standing will be considered for selections. For 12U events, the lower division is considered to be 11U Green. 1/8 of the draw is taken from the younger age players in the top 40 who are still eligible in the younger age group. For the 11U division, 1 player is taken from the 10U division in the top 20 who are still eligible in the younger age group.

USTA SOUTHERN SEEDING CRITERIA
In an effort to provide greater transparency and understanding of how USTA Southern seeds will be determined for USTA Southern L 1, 1A and 2 events, FAC (Friend at Court) method II.A.4.b., which provides for a computerized system of rankings or standings. The Junior Competition Committee approved the below chart that the Tournament Seeding Committees, with assistance from the USTA Southern staff, shall utilize to determine seedings. Lower level USTA Southern L 3, 4 & 5 events and State events below USTA Southern L 1-2 events, may choose between FAC seeding methods II.A.4.a., which provides for an All Factors Method, or II.A.4.b., which provides for a computerized system of rankings or standings and shall be published. If two or more players are tied in the final seeding order and do not cross a seeding group (i.e. 3 tied for #6 seed) they will be listed as having the same seed. If they cross a seeding group (i.e. 2 tied at 8), then they will be drawn by lot for seeding position. On a Draw Players will be seeded numerically 1-4, and in groupings of 5's, 9's and 17's. When calculating 12U seeds, the 10U standings are not considered. Revised: June 5, 2015

DOUBLES
We will not have contact information for doubles until selections have been made on Monday. You can register without a partner. We will randomly pair anyone who does not have a partner. We do not have facebook for finding partners. Facebook has proven ineffective for finding a partner since a lot of people wait until the last minute to register for the tournament. If you find a partner before 8:00 pm Tuesday (9/8) night, email me your partner's name.
Allowing you to register for doubles without a partner, gives you the opportunity to let others know you are interested in playing doubles increasing your chances of finding a partner. By allowing you to register for doubles without a partner, you have the added responsibility to notify us if you find a partner or you want to be withdrawn. If you do not have a partner or withdraw by 8:00 pm Tuesday (9/6), you are telling us you want to be randomly paired with a partner. Once paired, you are expected to play!
USTA Southern requires players to play the same age division in both singles and doubles.
We will do our best to randomly pair players without partners but we can only do this if there is an even number.

MANDATORY TOURNAMENT CHECK IN:
Mandatory means just that. We are staying until 8:30 pm for your
convenience. We feel strongly that you should be able to make it by
that time.
For those of you that "just cant make it by that time" need to do the following and PLEASE DO NOT CALL and ask for permission to miss check-in:
1- Make sure your entry fee has been paid - check the Tournament Entry Fee Report when posted.
2 - Email or Fax your Medical Release Waiver WITH your CELL phone numbers & HOTEL info completed to 251/208-5195 or tennismobile@gmail.com.
3 - Show up 30 minutes before your match time to check in. Please be patient
with us when checking in, we will be focused on getting matches on and
off the court. Checking in people at this time will be a detriment to
the tournament.
4 - Those of you playing 8:00 am matches at the Mobile Tennis Center
will need to be on your assigned court at 7:45. Make sure you allow
yourself plenty of time.
For most of the day on Saturday we will only have one person checking in players for the
tournament (those that did not come the night before). Obviously this
is not enough to check in everyone 30 minutes before their match times.
If you are not on your court by your assigned match time, you will be
penalized. Because you did not check-in the night before, is no excuse
for being late for your match. We cannot predict if there will be 5
people or 50 people waiting to check in when you do. You cannot play
your match until you have checked in for the tournament. If there is a
line that causes you to be late for your match, unfortunately that will
be your problem that could have been avoided. Therefore, we urge all of
you to check-in on Friday this includes Locals, Commuters and Travelers.
Thank you for your cooperation.

TENNIS PARENT ALERT AND JUNIOR MEDICAL RELEASE FORM
USTA requires a medical release SIGNED BY THE PARENT OR GUARDIAN for
every player. This form must be presented at the time of tournament
registration. Please download and bring this completed form with you, email it to tennismobile@gmail.com, or fax
to 251-208-5195 to speed up the registration process. When sending the form via email or fax, please make sure you send both completed pages. Players are
not allowed on court without this signed release:

|
MATCH CHECK IN PROCEDURES
1 - The first matches of each day will report directly to the court at
7:45, and balls will be on the court. Matches should begin promptly at
8:00. We call this a "Shotgun Start"
2 - In most cases for all matches after 8:00 am, please get in a single-file line at
the tournament desk at least 15 minutes before your scheduled match
time. Do not wait until 9:59 to check in for 10:00. You must go to the
bathroom, fill your water bottle, etc. and be ready to go on court
before you check in. When using block scheduling, we may use the shotgun start for matches after 8:00 am. 3 - Once you have checked in, you must stay where instructed until
we tell you the court assignment. 4 - We will be watching the clock for lateness. Please do not ask if
your opponent has checked in - you have other things to think about.
The staff and the Referee will take care of lateness issues, you need
only worry about your own timeliness.
