IMPORTANT INFO... PLEASE READ!
Welcome to the Park City Challenger!!
For those who have looked at the USTA homepage for this event in
the last 24 hours, you will see that we have over 130 entrants into the
draws!!!
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!!
But……….
That being said, we had projected for more around 60-80 players
and only allocated Thursday and Friday evening and all day Saturday for the
event!?!?
So…. We need to set some ground rules so that we can accommodate
as many matches as we can!!
1.
MATCH TIMES: Thursday: 6pm – 10pm Friday: 5pm – 10pm Saturday: 8am
til we finish!! ( NO MATCHES will be placed on court after 9pm)
2.
No avoidance requests
will be granted….sorry. Too many players, not enough courts and we cannot
hold a draw up for an avoidance as it will strain the others in the draw.
3.
There will be only SINGLES, no Doubles. There is no back
draw for these events… again… sorry….
4.
We will be using a modified scoring system. Think 10 game
pro set, no add, tiebreaker at 10-10.
5.
We will honor our commitment to NOT include SUNDAY play.
6.
We are going to also ask that you re-check your entry to make sure
that you are only entered in ONE DRAW. Challengers can only be played at
correct age level. If you have posted two or more entries, email me ASAP
to get removed from the incorrect entries.
7.
If you feel you would like to play, but you feel that you may not
be able to complete all matches(conflict Saturday afternoon for example), A
tradition long held in tennis is to play until match point of the final
match you would be able to compete in and concede the match to your opponent.
Your opponent can move on a play the match that you may have been forced to
default. Please remember: Challenger events are for the match experience
and practice!!
Knowing all of this, if you feel that the above items may have
you reconsidering playing this event, you may withdraw your entry between now
and Friday at 6pm for a full refund.
Just send me an e-mail with the player name and age group and I
will remove the player
DRAWS will be posted on Saturday afternoon - early evening.
AFTER THE DRAWS ARE POSTED, THERE WILL BE NO REFUND!!
If you have any questions, I can be reached at the office
435-615-5427 or text my cell at 435-659-4704
Thanks,

Notes
CHALLENGER DEFINITION: A Challenger is a novice player who has
NOT won an Open tournament. A junior may continue to participate in
challenger events, in their age appropriate division, until they
have won no more than (2) Challenger Tournaments. After two (2)
Challenger Tournament wins, a junior is no longer eligible for a
Challenger event until they age up. A player may not play out of
his/her age division in a Challenger event until the month in which
the junior ages up. FORMAT FOR 12'S CHALLENGER DIVISIONS: 12's
Challenger Divisions will be played on 78' (full size) courts with
green low compression balls. FORMAT FOR 10'S CHALLENGER DIVISIONS:
10's Challenger Divisions will be played on 60' courts with orange
low compression balls. 10's matches will be best of 3 short sets
(first to 4 games), no-ad scoring, with a 7 point tiebreak played
in lieu of the 3rd set. Due to the unpredictability of match
outcomes, we are unable to take match time avoidance requests
beyond the first day of the tournament. Avoidance requests must be
made with the Tournament Director PRIOR to the draws being made.
RESCHEDULING POLICY - Finals may NOT be rescheduled!! There will be
NO RESCHEDULING of matches except in extreme circumstances beyond
the control of the players and then only with prior approval of the
Tournament Director. Players rescheduling without permission will
be DEFAULTED!! All costs of rescheduling are the responsibility of
the initiator. Players are under NO obligation to reschedule when
asked by an opponent.
