This tournament is not sanctioned and will not count for ranking by the governing organization.
Registration Closed!
Our tournament can only hold 24 teams, and we have reached that number. We apologize for the inconvenience but we just can't take any more teams unless we want the tournament to finish up at 3am. We may try to run a similar shootout later in the winter, so stay tuned!

Potluck Dinner
We will be providing some food for the night, but we are asking everyone bring your favorite dish to share as well. Last names A-L bring a main dish, M-S bring an appetizer, T-Z bring a dessert.
|
Match Schedule
Everyone will get at least 3 matches, probably 4 or even 5! You will be on the court and off the court a lot.
Play will begin at 6pm and run until around midnight (be prepared to stay that late). We ask that everyone check in at the tournament by 5:30 so people can start eating and socializing ahead of time. We will go over the scoring at 5:50 or so.

How to register
Sign up for your usual division by combining your and your partner's NTRP ratings. This tournament is also open to non-USTA members, so just approximate (we are counting on you to be honest here) their rating when you sign up.
|
Tournament Format
This will be a new format similar to the Necker Cup. All players will be placed in the same bracket. Men, women, all NTRP divisions, all in one bracket!
The scoring system of each match will be modified to give every team a fair chance of winning. This has been done with the Necker Cup and has been proven successful in giving teams an equal chance of winning. All matches will be an 8 game pro-set, with a 7 point tie-break at 8-8. The games will be no-ad scoring so we can keep things moving and get everyone a lot of mathces. We are hoping everyone gets at least 4 matches.
We will take your team's combined NTRP rating and subtract .5 for each female on the team to get your total team rating.
Examples
- Male 3.5 and Female 4.0 - team rating is 7.0
- Female 3.0 and Female 5.0 - team rating is 7.0
- Male 3.5 and Male 4.5 - team rating is 8.0
The difference in rating between the two teams will determine the scoring format for that match.
Difference - Scoring Format
- 0.0 - Start each game at 15-15
- 0.5 - Start each game at 15-15, the team with the lower rating gets 3 free points to use at any time in the match. Before the point starts say "We claim this point".
- 1.0 - Team with the lower rating starts each game up 15-love or love-15.
- 1.5 or 2.0 - Team with the lower rating starts each game up 30-love or love-30.
- 2.5 - Team with the lower rating starts each game up 30-love or love-30 and gets 3 serves.
- 3.0 - Team with the lower rating starts each game up 40-love or love-40 and gets 3 serves.
- 3.5 - Team with the lower rating starts each game up 40-love or love-40 and gets 3 serves. Team with the higher rating gets only 1 serve
- 4.0+ - Team with the lower rating starts at "40" each game and gets 3 serves, team with the higher rating starts at "-40" each game and gets only 1 serve.
Starting scores for the tiebreak are similar, just "double" the game starting scores. For example if the difference in team ratings is 2.5 the team with the lower rating starts up 4-0 and gets 3 serves. Serve is determined as usual, switch sides every 6 points (counting the free points).
