IMPORTANT TOURNAMENT INFORMATION
IMPORTANT-MUST
READ- There are NO Multiple Registrations except for different age divisions One
age division registration:
· When
signing up for this event, you are NOT allowed to sign up for two
sites in one age division. You must choose
the East Site or the West Site in one age division
· After
selections are posted and you are an Alternate for the site you chose, you may,
IF the second site is not full, EMAIL the
Tournament Director and ask to be entered as a “late entry”, again, only if
there are not 32 players entered
· If
you are successfully entered and now a Competitor in the secondary late entry
site you MUST email the Tournament Director of your first choice
site and request that your name be removed from the Alternate list
· You
cannot be a Competitor on one site and an Alternate on another site in the same
age division and if you are, you will be issued five suspension points by the
USTA Midwest Section and will not be issued a refund. See rule below under “USTA/MIDWEST
SECTIONS SUSPENSION POINT SYSTEM…..”
Two
age divisions registration:
· You
ARE allowed to sign up for two age divisions at two sites. You MUST EMAIL both Tournament
Directors on the same email informing them of what you are doing.
· You
will be considered for the older age division first and if you make the 32 draw
you will not be considered for the younger age division selection.
· If
you are an Alternate in the older division, you will be considered for the
younger division.
· If
you are a Competitor in the younger division, you may remain an Alternate in
the older division till the Wednesday before the tournament begins at 6pm. At
that time you need to make a decision of what you would like to do because
after 6pm on Wednesday you cannot be a Competitor in one event and an Alternate
in another and if you are, you will be issued five suspension points by the
USTA Midwest Section and will not be issued a refund. See rule below under “USTA/MIDWEST
SECTIONS SUSPENSION POINT SYSTEM…..”
· If
you are an Alternate in both events, you may remain on both lists for as long
as you like with no penalty and hopefully you will be offered a spot in one of
those events. If you then become a
Competitor in one event, you must have your name removed from the Alternate
list of the other or you will receive five suspension points. See rule below
under “USTA/MIDWEST SECTIONS SUSPENSION POINT SYSTEM…..”
USTA/MIDWEST
SECTIONS SUSPENSION POINT SYSTEM AND SIGNING UP FOR TWO TOURNAMENTS
Signing up for two events:
All players will be given five (5) suspension points for entering two or
more tournaments that take place at the same time, in whole or in part, unless
you have followed the Multiple Registration Guidelines for this tournament
(first paragraph above) OR if signing up for a Level 5 Local District Event,
you have emailed both Tournament Directors for permission to do so. This applies to all players who signed up for
the MW Elevated tournament(s) including alternates and is a general USTA rule
for all events.
PLEASE PROVIDE ALL CONTACT INFORMATION WHEN YOU REGISTER The USTA Legal Department has determined that they cannot provide contact information to tournament directors unless the customer provides the contact information during the registration process. If you don't provide an e-mail address and/or telephone number when you register for this tournament we will be unable to notify you about any important changes that may occur in the tournament.
MIDWEST LEVEL 4 POINTS PER ROUND For ranking purposes, this is a USTA/Midwest Level 4 tournament. There are no national points for this tournament.
INFORMATION ON MIDWEST LEVEL 4 TOURNAMENTS
Instead of having a 64 draw in one location per age division, these Level
4’s have two 32 draws in two locations, one on the East side of the Section and
one on the West side. This allows for
less or no traveling and less expenses for the players and their families. These events can be played by a variety of
players:
· For
the player who has been playing local District Level 5 events who has
accumulated some Midwest points and wants this to be their “first” Midwest Elevated
Tournament
· For
the player who is aging up and wants to get a jump start on their points for
the next age division since these events are worth a little more than double
the points of the Level 5’s
· For
the player who is nationally ranked and is not looking for points but a chance
of head to head competition for their TennisRecruiting.net ranking, where the
ranking lists are heavily viewed by College Coaches for recruiting.
DRAW SIZE This tournament will have a 32-player draw size, singles only. There is a 3-4 playoff for the main draw. Because this is a two-day tournament, the FIC consolation draw will stop at the finals.
USTA/MIDWEST SECTION SEEDING & SELECTION CRITERIA Players will be selected based on the most current USTA/Midwest Section Standing Lists available at the time of the entry deadline. Players will be selected in the following order: 1. Four (4) players from the top 100 of the most current USTA/Midwest Section B16 Standing List will be selected first. 2. Twenty-eight (28) players from the most current USTA/Midwest Section B18 Standing List will be selected next. 3. Any remaining vacancies and/or alternates will be selected and/or ordered from the USTA/Midwest Section B18 Standing List. SEEDING will be done using the most current USTA/Midwest Section B18 Standing List available at the time of seeding.
PLAYER SELECTION AND ORDERED ALTERNATE LIST The selection process for this tournament will be completed by 6:00 p.m. on Monday, November 10. At that time we will post the PLAYER LIST and the ORDERED ALTERNATE LIST on this site. IMPORTANT- If you are not selected into the tournament and your name appears on the ALTERNATE LIST, you will need to email the tournament director to confirm your availability and to provide updated contact information so that we can contact you quickly if we have a withdrawal that opens up a spot for you.
USTA CERTIFIED OFFICIALS This tournament is USTA-sanctioned, and certified USTA officials will be onsite and roving matches throughout the tournaments. The USTA Point Penalty System will be in effect throughout the tournament, including lateness to a match. Please give yourself plenty of travel time as there is no grace period for being late to a match. The match clock will start when your match is called.
INDIVIDUAL FIRST MATCH TIMES A list of INDIVIDUAL FIRST MATCH TIMES will be posted on this site by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 12. There will be a link above (under Tournament Reports) with a list of first round match times for each player. When first match times are posted we will also post instructions for making practice court reservations. WE WILL NOT TAKE ANY PRACTICE COURT REQUESTS UNTIL FIRST MATCH TIMES ARE POSTED. Please check this site again on March 12 for your first match time and for instructions on how to make practice court reservations.
REGISTERING BEFORE YOUR FIRST MATCH On the first day of the tournament, please plan to register at the tournament desk at least 30 minutes prior to your first match. During registration we will ask for a local phone number in case we need to contact you during the weekend and the name of the hotel you are staying, and will give you your tournament t-shirt. Registering for the tournament before your first match and checking-in for your matches are not the same thing: we will not put any matches out early unless both players agree to it.
TOURNAMENT DESK LOCATION The tournament desk will be located on the 2nd floor of the west wing of the tennis center (between courts 10 & 11). This is where players will register for the tournament, check-in for matches, report scores, etc. Practice court requests and assignments are not handled at the tournament desk, but at the customer service desk (Welcome Center) located at the top of the stairs near the main entrance. Please make a note of this and give yourself time to get from one location to the next.
PRACTICE COURT INSTRUCTIONS We cannot take any practice court reservations until Individual First Match Times are posted (by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12). Once you have your first match time you can call for a practice court reservation. We will have courts available on Friday night and Saturday morning. NOTE - On Saturday morning, players may be placed four to a court, if necessary. If we do need to place four players to a court, players will be given preference over coaches or parents. Please be prepared for this possibility. Court fee is $20.00 per hour, and all court reservations will need to be paid in advance with Visa, MasterCard or Discover. Throughout the tournament, anything pertaining to practice courts will be handled at the customer service area (Welcome Center) located at the top of the stairs near the front entrance of the tennis center, NOT at the tournament desk. There is a bank of five courts (courts 6-10) between the tournament desk location and the customer service area. Please make sure you give yourself enough time to get from one location to the next so that you are not late for your matches- there is no grace period. All practice courts will need to be paid in advance and you will need a court assignment card from the welcome center staff in order to enter any courts.
DRAW The DRAW will be posted by 9:00 p.m. on Friday, November 14.
TENTATIVE SCHEDULE OF PLAY On Saturday, three rounds of the main draw and two rounds of FIC Consolation will be played. On Sunday, two rounds of the main draw and three rounds of FIC Consolation will be played. Because this is a two-day tournament, the FIC Consolation finals will not be played out.
SCORING FORMAT For both the main draw and the consolation draw the scoring format will be two out of three sets with a 10-point tiebreak in lieu of a full third set. A player will be entitled to a three-minute rest period after splitting sets and before playing the 10-point tiebreak. IMPORTANT: The 3-minute rest period is the only time during any match where coaching is allowed. PRACTICE COURTS Indoor practice courts will be available Friday Evening, Saturday, Sunday and Monday mornings 1 hour before the first matches. There will be limited indoor practice courts available during match play each day. One court will be reserved for players with upcoming matches, 30 minute limit and up to 4 players per court for $5 per player. Additional indoor courts may be available for reservation - all indoor courts will be $20 per hour and paid at the time of reservation. There will be no practice court reservations until after the first match times are released.
