10 and Under Guidelines
Singles matches are best 2 out of 3 sets. Sets are 4 game short sets. The first player to win 4 games by a margin of 2 wins the set. At 4 games all, a 7 point tiebreak will be played. At 1 set all, a 7 point tiebreaker will be played for the 3rd set. There is no 3 minute coaching break. Games are regular scoring. Doubles matches are a 6 game pro-set. At 6 games all, a 7 point tiebreak will be played. Orange ball is used. Umpires will keep used balls for next matches. Racket must be no longer than 25 inches. Singles sticks are used. Normally there are no code violations issued or foot faults called. However if there is a question of conduct and a code violation should be issued during the match, the referee should be called to court. Rest periods between games and sets are per USTA guidelines.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR 2014
- This is a Southern Level 3 Tournament - You may enter Two (2) Divisions in this tournament in hopes of getting into the older division. You will only be selected for one singles event. 4 applicants will be selected for the older division based on their younger standing, if it is in the top 40. If you absolutely do not want to play the younger division, do not register for it. You should only register for two singles divisions if you are willing to play either division. - You may not enter a different age division in doubles than your singles. - The Selection Process DOES include the selection of 1/8 from the Younger Age Group - ALL SINGLES PLAYERS WILL HAVE AT LEAST 3 ROUNDS OF PLAY! WIN OR LOSE, CHECK THE DESK AND/OR DRAWS TO FIND YOUR NEXT MATCH TIME. - Airport is called Mobile Regional Airport (MOB). Pensacola, FL and Gulfport, MS have airports within an hour from Mobile - Mobile is in the Central Time Zone - Please read all of the information provided on the website. It is a lot to scroll through but will probably answer any questions you might have. - Both Singles and Doubles times will be posted in the Future Match Info Report on 9/11 in the evening. - On Wednesday, 9/10, PLEASE CHECK THE DOUBLES COMPETITORS LIST TO MAKE SURE YOUR PAIRING IS CORRECT - Email any other questions to tennismobile@gmail.com - this is the best form of communication. With such a short amount of time between registration closing and the start of the tournament, answering and returning phone calls is nearly impossible. Emails can be answered much quicker and at any time during the day or night.
NEW RULE USTA Reg. IV. D. 15. - Timing of imposition of penalties. An official who is not on the court has a reasonable amount of time to reach the court and impose the penalty even if intervening points have been played. Any intervening points stand as played. Example: An official responsible for a bank of courts #9, #10, #11, #12 can be on court #9 and a player have a code violation on court #12 and that player can still be penalized for the violation even if subsequent points have been played. BEST ADVICE - DO NOT HAVE ANY VIOLATIONS BECAUSE YOU DO NOT KNOW WHO IS WATCHING!

FORMAT OF PLAY
Beginning January 1, 2012, all USTA Southern Level 3 tournaments will adhere to a set and consistent format. Taking cost and school day factors into account, the Junior Competition Committee has determined that the Level 3 tournaments will be conducted as follows: - Matches are only to be scheduled on Saturday and Sunday - Each division will consist of two 16 feed in draws, with dependent draws - The draws will be waterfalled to make two balanced draws - Each draw will use the new Level 3 Point table (increased points) - Selections will remain the same as in the past. The top 32 players will be selected using the same process for bringing in the lower age division (four from the top 40) - Until Wednesday prior to the tournament start date, alternates will fill in for any withdrawn player - On Wednesday, the tournament director will split the 32 players into two balanced 16 draws using a format supplied by the Southern Office - Seeding must be done using the Southern Seeding Calculator - After the draws are complete, the next alternate will fill a “withdrawal” spot no matter in which draw the withdrawal occurs - If a seeded player withdraws prior to 9:00 am local time the Friday before the tournament, the seeds shall be adjusted (only in that particular draw) according to FAC - If the withdrawal occurs after 9:00 am local time, the next alternate would be placed on the same line as the withdrawing seed - Out of Section players would be dealt with the same as has been done, only after all of our Section players have been taken care of first - In the 12’s division, four players from the 10’s division will be selected by the guidelines but these players will not be considered for seeding - Players will be guaranteed three rounds most will have four. - The new Level 3 point table will be used starting January 1, 2012 - Draw information o Two 16 feed in draws with dependent draws o All single matches will be best of three with a match tiebreak to be used for the third set o If the number of entrants for a division is less than 24, one draw will be made using a modified back draw - Doubles: o One draw of 16 o Pro set to be used

WITHDRAWALS:
Withdrawal Prior to Entry Deadline:
Go to the Tournament website and click "EDIT REGISTRATION" on the right
side of your screen then "Withdraw". From there you can withdraw. If you
do not know your Confirmation #, then click "Locate Confirmation" just
below "Withdraw." We cannot withdraw you, you must do this yourself.
You will lose the processing fee if you do not withdraw online before
registration closes.
Withdrawal After Entry Deadline:
Immediately contact the tournament to withdraw from the tournament. You
must fax or email your withdrawal. DO NOT call to withdraw. The email
is tennismobile@gmail.com and the fax is (251) 208-5195. If the player is not playing because of an injury or illness, the player shall provide written verification of the injury or illness from a medical professional no later than the last scheduled day of the tournament. There are No
refunds if withdrawing after registration closes. Defaulting during the tournament:
You must see the trainer and get approval from the Head Referee at the
Mobile Tennis Center. Do not tell just anyone at the desk and think you have
properly defaulted. Unless you speak to the Head Referee in person, it
will count as a "No Show." WE WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY WITHDRAWALS OVER THE
PHONE!
If the player is not playing because of an injury or illness, the
player shall provide written verification of the injury or illness from

DOUBLES
We will not have contact information for doubles until selections have been made on Monday. You can register without a partner. We will randomly pair anyone who does not have a partner. We do not have facebook for finding partners. Facebook has proven ineffective for finding a partner since a lot of people wait until the last minute to register for the tournament. If you find a partner before Tuesday (9/9) night, email me your partner's name.
You may not enter a different age division in doubles than your singles. I know this is difficult when you register for two singles divisions and are not sure for which singles you will be selected. It is also a problem because your planned doubles partner may end up playing a different age division in singles and you will have to find a new partner. When making the selections, we will only select doubles players in the same age division as their singles. Once selections are made, you can be added to the correct doubles age division - please email me to add you to the correct doubles age division. Also, doubles pairings can be made or changed by emailing tennismobile@gmail.com
|
LATE ENTRIES
Late entries shall be accepted and go to the bottom of
the alternate list ON A FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE BASIS in the order received via email. EMAIL IS THE ONLY WAY TO COMMUNICATE FOR LATE ENTRIES.
|
ENTRY FEE
Please make sure your
fee has been paid. There will be several Credit Card Failures, Alternates and Late Entries that will have to pay the entry fee. We do not accept
checks. CALL IN YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER. Call the Mobile Tennis Center Pro
Shop at (251) 208-5185 only. Do not
call any other phone numbers or email for credit card processing.
|
CONTACT INFORMATION:
Due to Alternate notification and Draw Changes, it is imperative for you to add contact information (email and phone) during the online registration process when asked. So a player does not lose out, please help us and yourselves by offering this contact information. If you did not add your contact information during registration, you can email this information to tennismobile@gmail.com at anytime.

MANDATORY TOURNAMENT CHECK IN:
Mandatory means just that. We are staying until 9:00 pm for your
convenience. We feel strongly that you should be able to make it by
that time.
For those of you that "just cant make it by that time" need to do the following and please do not call and ask for permission to miss check-in:
1- Make sure your entry fee has been paid - check the Tournament Entry Fee Report when posted.
2 - Email or Fax in your Medical Release Waiver WITH your CELL phone numbers & HOTEL info completed to 251/208-5195.
3 - Show up 30 minutes before your match time to check in. Please be patient
with us when checking in, we will be focused on getting matches on and
off the court. Checking in people at this time will be a detriment to
the tournament.
4 - Those of you playing 8:00 am matches at the Mobile Tennis Center
will need to be on your assigned court at 7:45. Make sure you allow
yourself plenty of time.
For most of the day on Saturday we will only have one person checking in players for the
tournament (those that did not come the night before). Obviously this
is not enough to check in everyone 30 minutes before their match times.
If you are not on your court by your assigned match time, you will be
penalized. Because you did not check-in the night before, is no excuse
for being late for your match. We cannot predict if there will be 5
people or 50 people waiting to check in when you do. You cannot play
your match until you have checked in for the tournament. If there is a
line that causes you to be late for your match, unfortunately that will
be your problem that could have been avoided. Therefore, we urge all of
you to check-in on Friday this includes Locals, Commuters and Travelers.
Thank you for your cooperation.

TENNIS PARENT ALERT AND JUNIOR MEDICAL RELEASE FORM
USTA requires a medical release SIGNED BY THE PARENT OR GUARDIAN for
every player. This form must be presented at the time of tournament
registration. Please download and bring this completed form with you or fax
to us (251-208-5195) to speed up the registration process. Players are
not allowed on court without this signed release:

MATCH CHECK IN PROCEDURES
MATCH CHECK IN RULE:
Regulation IV.A.2 states "The referee may penalize a player who is on
site for lateness if a court is available and the player has failed to
check in at the tournament desk by the scheduled match time".
THIS MEANS, IF THERE IS 1 OPEN COURT AT 10:00 AND THERE ARE 3 MATCHES TO
PUT ON, THE REFEREE WILL START THE CLOCK FOR LATENESS FOR ANYONE WHO
HAS NOT CHECKED IN FOR 10:00 - EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH COURTS
FOR ALL 3 MATCHES.
1 - The first matches of each day will report directly to the court at
7:45, and balls will be on the court. Matches should begin promptly at
8:00. We call this a "Shotgun Start"
2 - In most cases for all matches after 8:00 am, please get in a single-file line at
the tournament desk at least 15 minutes before your scheduled match
time. Do not wait until 9:59 to check in for 10:00. You must go to the
bathroom, fill your water bottle, etc. and be ready to go on court
before you check in. When using block scheduling, we may use the shotgun start for matches after 8:00 am. 3 - Once you have checked in, you must stay where instructed until
we tell you the court assignment. 4 - We will be watching the clock for lateness. Please do not ask if
your opponent has checked in - you have other things to think about.
The staff and the Referee will take care of lateness issues you need
only worry about your own timeliness.
