Selection Process Complete
The Selection Process is Complete. Draws will be posted no more than four days, and no less than two days before the tournament begins. No draws will be seeded, as a required number of players did not have sufficient seeding information.
We anticipate that matches for most divisions will begin Monday, June 24, and that the tournament will be completed Friday, June 28. Again, that scheduled is tentative. However, as a reminder, all matches will be scheduled during the day. Match times will not be scheduled in the evenings. Players in all divisions (Men's and Women's Singles, Mixed Doubles) must expect to play between 8am and 5pm, Monday-Friday.

General Information
This website contains important information about the 2013 US Open Texas Sectional Qualifying Tournament at Arlington Tennis Center, June 24-29. Additional detailed information may be found on the
US Open National Playoffs general information site.
- This tournament is part of the US Open National Playoffs – a series of tournaments that gives any person 14 years of age or older who meets the eligibility requirements the opportunity to earn a singles wild card entry to compete in the US Open Qualifying Tournament at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, August 20-23, 2013,
or a mixed doubles team entry into the US Open Mixed Doubles Championship that begins August 28, 2013.
- Participating USTA sections will run a men’s, women’s and mixed doubles US Open Sectional Qualifying Tournament between April 1 and July 4, 2013.
- Singles draws will be best-of-three tiebreak sets, single elimination.
- Mixed doubles matches will consist of two tie-break sets, no-ad scoring, with a match tie-break in lieu of a third set (first team to 10 points), single elimination. (Note: At deuce, the male player will serve to the opposing male player and the female player will serve to the opposing female player.)
- Singles format may be adjusted due to weather issues.
- Within each division, the top two players/teams will be seeded based on their ATP/WTA computer ranking (if any).
- The winner of each US Open Sectional Qualifying Tournament in each division (men’s singles, women’s singles, mixed doubles) will advance to the US Open National Playoffs Championships in their respective division taking place in New Haven, CT at Yale University during the New Haven Open, a WTA event (August 16-19 for singles, August 21-24 for mixed doubles).
- At the US Open National Playoffs Championship at the New Haven Open, a maximum of 13 players in the men's and women's draws, and a maximum of 13 teams in the mixed doubles draw, will compete in a single elimination tournament.
- The winner of each Singles Championship (one male, one female) will receive a wild card entry to compete in the 2013 US Open Qualifying Tournament (August 20-23) and the winner of the Mixed Doubles Championship (one team) will receive a wild card entry to compete in the 2013 US Open Mixed Doubles Championship (commencing August 28) at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

Selection Process
The tournament director for each US Open Sectional Qualifying Tournament will run a "Lottery Selection Process" via TennisLink within 48 hours after the entry close date which will automatically accept all entries if the total number of entries into the tournament is less than or equal to 256 for men's singles, less than or equal to 256 for women's singles, and less than or equal to 128 for mixed doubles.
- If the total number of entries into the tournament is greater than the above, then the "Lottery Selection Process" will determine accepted entries at random.
- A player's entry fee (credit/debit card payment) will only be processed if he/she is accepted into the US Open Sectional Qualifying Tournament.
- All players accepted into the US Open Sectional Qualifying Tournament will receive an email notification via TennisLink indicating as such and the Competitors will be posted online once the "Lottery Selection Process" is run.
- All players not accepted into the US Open Sectional Qualifying Tournament will receive an email notification via TennisLink indicating as such once the "Lottery Selection Process" is run.

Sectional Winners
The National Tournament Director shall contact the winners of each US Open Sectional Qualifying Tournament with a formal invitation to compete in the US Open National Playoffs Championship at the New Haven Open and review the necessary details to confirm their participation.

National Playoffs
Following the conclusion of each men's and women's US Open National Playoffs Championship at the New Haven Open at Yale University, the men's and women's singles winners will be contacted with a formal invitation to compete in the US Open Qualifying Tournament and review the necessary details to confirm his/her participation.
- Following the conclusion of the mixed doubles US Open National Playoffs Championship at the New Haven Open at Yale University, the winning team will be contacted with a formal invitation to compete in the US Open Mixed Doubles Championship and review the necessary details to confirm his/her participation.
- Should the winner(s) of a US Open National Playoffs Championship elect not to compete in the US Open Qualifying Tournament, or the US Open Mixed Doubles Championship for any reason, the runner-up shall be invited to compete.
- Should the runner-up elect not to compete for any reason, then the winner of the playoff match for third place shall be invited to compete.
- Should the third place finisher elect not to compete for any reason, then the fourth place finisher shall be invited to compete.
- Should the fourth place finisher elect not to compete for any reason, the designated wild card shall be used at the USTA’s sole and absolute discretion.
- The one (1) male, one (1) female and one (1) mixed doubles team who accepts the wild card entry into the US Open Qualifying Tournament/Mixed Doubles Championship shall be responsible for all costs and expenses associated with their participation (e.g., travel, accommodations, meals, etc.).
- Anyone competing at the 2013 US Open must sign a standard entry form before being allowed to compete.
- The draw size for the 2013 US Open National Playoffs will be a maximum of 17 players/teams in each division.

Player Rankings
All US Open National Playoff events shall be included in the USTA National Rankings for Professional Tennis. Players shall only receive points by reaching the quarterfinal, semifinal or final round of any US Open National Playoffs event, according to the guidelines established by the USTA. The USTA reserves the right to make changes to the tournaments used and the point structure at any time.

Entering the Tournament
Entry for each 2013 US Open Sectional Qualifying Tournament must be completed online through TennisLink prior to the entry close date. Entry shall be open for all 2013 US Open Sectional Qualifying Tournaments on March 15, 2013 and close no later than ten (10) days prior to the start of the tournament. The deadline for this tournament is June 10, 11:59 PM. Late entries will not be accepted after the entry close date under any circumstances, and no alternates shall be allowed (even to replace withdrawals).

Fees
- A player’s entry fee shall only be processed if he/she is accepted into the 2013 US Open Sectional Qualifying Tournament.
- Men’s or Women's Singles Only = $100.00 per player
- Mixed Doubles Only = $120.00 per team ($60.00 per player)
- Mixed Doubles & Men’s or Women's Singles = $160.00 per player
- For players competing in Mixed Doubles, it will be the responsibility of one of the team members to register and pay for both players during the online registration process.
- The entry fees do not include the TennisLink processing fee.

Withdrawing
- A player may withdraw online before the entry close date without penalty, as a player’s entry fee will only be processed once the “Lottery Selection Process” has been run through TennisLink after the entry close date and he/she is accepted into this tournament.
- A player may not withdraw online after the entry close date.
- Withdrawals after the deadline must be in writing via email to
atc@arlingtontx.gov.
- If a player withdraws after the entry close date by contacting the Sectional Tournament Director (Sheryl Osborn for this tournament), he/she is not entitled to receive a refund.
- A player should not withdraw from a US Open Sectional Qualifying Tournament except for illness, injury, personal emergency, or previously authorized entry into another tournament.
- If a seeded player/team withdraws more than twenty-four (24) hours prior to the start of the first match of the tournament, the player/team who would have been seeded next will be placed on the vacated line and that player’s/team’s original line will become a bye. If a seeded player/team withdraws less than twenty-four (24) hours prior to the start of the first match of the tournament, it will result in a walkover.

Player Release Form
All players are required to complete a US Open National Playoffs Player Release and Consent Form prior to the player's first match. You will be asked for the Player Release and Consent Form upon check-in at the tournament, so please bring the completed form with you.

Match Format
US Open Sectional Qualifying Tournament matches:
- Singles draws - best-of-three tiebreak sets, single elimination
- Mixed doubles draws - two no-ad sets, with a match tie-break in lieu of third set
- All draws - single elimination
- If the Referee needs to take steps to shorten the tournament (i.e. due to inclement weather, health concerns, or safety concerns) to keep the tournament on schedule, singles may switch to any other scoring method (i.e., No-Ad Scoring, 10-Point Match Tiebreak in lieu of final set or Pro Sets) with prior approval by the National Tournament Director or authorized representative. Note: The event may not switch to any other scoring method for the Mixed Doubles competition.

Applicants are players who have registered for this tournament. Once the selection process has been complete, Competitors will indicate players who are entered in the tournament.

Draw Size
The draw size at each US Open Sectional Qualifying Tournament will be a maximum of two hundred and fifty six (256) in singles and 128 teams in mixed doubles.
- The draw at each tournament will take place no later than two (2) days prior to the start of the tournament.

Seeding
- Players competing in a US Open Sectional Qualifying Tournament will be seeded based on their ATP/WTA computer ranking (if any).
- Within each division, the top two (2) players/teams will be seeded using their ATP/WTA computer ranking (if any).
- To be seeded, players must have an ATP/WTA singles ranking.
- To be seeded in Mixed Doubles, both members of the team must have an ATP/WTA doubles ranking.
- The computer ranking list used for seeding is generated seven days prior to the Monday of the tournament week.
- If sufficient information is not available to seed at least two players/teams in each division, the division will not have any seeds.
- Byes, if any, will be given to the top seed first followed by the second seed. The rest of the byes, if any, will be evenly distributed throughout the draw.

Scheduling
A match shall neither start nor a suspended match resume before 8 am or after 10 pm.

Order of Play
Beginning with the Men’s and Women's Singles Quarter Finals, and the Mixed Doubles Semi Finals, we will be using Order of Play for scheduling matches. Those matches will not have times listed on the draws. The tentative schedule will be to hold Quarter Final matches on Thursday, June 27, Semi Final matches on Friday, June 28, and the Final matches on Saturday, June 29.

Results will be uploaded to this tournament website frequently each day, as scores are reported. Daily results will also be sent to area newspapers and posted on Facebook (Arlington Tennis Center-Texas) and Twitter (TennisArlington).

Tournament Check-in
Tournament check-in for all players will be at Arlington Tennis Center. At tournament check-in, players will receive important tournament information, copies of the draw and tournament gifts.
- Tournament check in will tentatively begin Sunday evening, June 23, from 6:00-8:00 pm, and continue Monday morning, June 24 from 8:00-9:00 am. This schedule will be adjusted once the deadline passes and a full tournament schedule is determined.
- Players with matches beginning later in the week may have adjusted check-in times that will be updated/listed once the schedule is determined.
- Players must check themselves in for the tournament, and all players will be required to present a valid photo identification at check-in.
- All players are required to complete a US Open National Playoffs Player Release and Consent Form prior to check-in. Players must bring the form with them to check-in.

- Scorekeepers: Players will use scorekeepers on court during matches to avoid scoring disputes. Each court will also have an identification board on the gate to list current match players.
- Stringing: Arlington Tennis Center's stringing staff is among the most experienced in our area. We will have a stringer at ATC during most of the tournament for quick stringing turn-around.
- Trainer: Arlington Tennis Center has arranged a partnership with the University of Texas at Arlington's Athletic Department to provide a trainer on site during the primary hours of the tournament. We sincerely hope that you do not require the trainer's services.

Referee and Officials
The Referee for this US Open Sectional Qualifying event is Susan Wertenberger. Ms. Wertenberger is an ITF White Badge Referee, and she is a certified Chair official, Lines person, Referee and ITA (Collegiate) official. Ms. Wertenberger is also a USTA Sectional Trainer Evaluator, and she has worked at many major ITF events, including the US Open and Indian Wells. - All officials working at this event are USTA Certified officials.
- The USTA Code of Conduct and the Point Penalty System will be strictly enforced.
- Matches through the semi-finals will be player-officiated, with a roving official for every three courts. The Singles and Mixed Final matches will be officiated by a Chair Umpire and a crew of five Linespersons.

- Dress Code: We ask that all players and spectators wear traditional attire appropriate for a family tennis environment. All guests (players and spectators) are required to wear shirts (including ladies wearing shirts over sports bras), and no bare stomachs / abdomens. Shorts and skirts should be of an appropriate length, as well. Players who do not dress appropriately will be asked to adjust their attire.
- Pets: Pets are prohibited in the Arlington Tennis Center proshop/building and inside the fenced areas around the courts.
- Proshop: Our proshop carries many great items, and we hope you find just what you are looking for! However, please know that shoplifters will be prosecuted, no exceptions.
- Smoking: Smoking is prohibited in the Arlington Tennis Center proshop/building & inside the fenced areas around the courts.
- Spectators: We welcome spectators for this event! However, spectators are not allowed on court at any time.
- Videotaping/Photography: Personal videotaping and photography are not allowed at any site, except persons who are videotaping 'their' player (for minors, this statement refers to parent, guardian or person designated by the parent/guardian) from a non-distracting position off court OR persons designated by the tournament staff to photograph or videotape aspects of the tournament for use in print or on public websites. The umpire or tournament staff may direct the videotaping or photography to stop if it is determined that the action is interfering or distracting to either player.

This tournament is part of the US Open National Playoffs - a
series of tournaments that gives any player 14 years of age or
older who meets the eligibility requirements the opportunity to
qualify for the 2012 US Open. Thirteen USTA sections will run a
Sectional Qualifying Tournament to include a men's singles, women's
singles and mixed doubles division between April 1 and July 4. With
a maximum of a 256 singles draw and a 128 mixed doubles team draw,
players/teams will compete in a single elimination draw. Singles
players will play to the best-of-three tiebreak sets and mixed
doubles teams will play two tiebreak sets, no-ad scoring, with a
match tiebreak in lieu of a third set. Within each division, the
top two players/teams will be seeded based on their ATP/WTA
computer ranking (if any). The winner of each Sectional Qualifying
Tournament in each division (men's singles, women's singles, mixed
doubles) will advance to their respective US Open National Playoffs
Championship which will be held in conjunction with a US Open
Series event or events this summer. Dates and locations for these
events will be announced shortly. The winner of each Singles
Championship (1 male, 1 female) will receive a wild card entry to
compete in the 2012 US Open Qualifying Tournament (August 21-24)
and the winner of the Mixed Doubles Championship (1 team) will
receive a wild card entry to compete in the 2012 US Open Mixed
Doubles Championship (commencing August 29) at the USTA Billie Jean

The tournament director will run a "Lottery Selection Process" via TennisLink within 24 hours after the entry close date which will automatically accept all entries if the total number of entries into the tournament is less than or equal to 256 for men's singles, less than or equal to 256 for women's singles, and less than or equal to 128 teams for mixed Doubles; and, if applicable, less than or equal to 128 teams for men's doubles, and less than or equal to 128 teams for women's doubles. If the total number of entries into the tournament is greater than the above, then the "Lottery Selection Process" will determine accepted entries at random. A player's entry fee will only be processed if he/she is accepted into the tournament. All players accepted into the tournament will receive an email notification via TennisLink indicating as such and will be posted online once the "Lottery Selection Process" is run. All players not accepted into the tournament will receive an email notification via TennisLink indicating as such once the "Lottery Selection Process" is run.
Entry to this tournament is open to all USTA members. Entries must be submitted by Monday, June 10, 2013 11:59:00 PM Central Time. Only USTA members can register online if available.
