THANKS FOR
Thanks for EVERYONES patience today as we got thru the matches with a ton of delays. This is the THIRD Level 3 we have run with the new split draws format , including doubles and we have probably done about 10-12 Level 3s over the years. As you will notice, we run pretty much the only Level 3s with doubles. We have pretty much worked the same schedule for each of the prior Level 3s and never before have we seen the LENGTH of matches in doubles and singles last this long. That is a great testament to the competitiveness of the overall tournament which is GREAT ! But unfortunately that takes a massive toll on the scheduling of an indoor tournament..... THANKS AGAIN and remember that with the weather today, if this was an outdoor tournament, you would have sat in the hotel room all day, gone shopping, or went to the movies. We also would have played ONE round of singles tomorrow and then sent you home. So, regardless of the matches putting us behind, we got to PLAY TENNIS !! And, the KIDS had a great time (especially the ping pong room) !!

IMPORTANT
Please read the notes below to help make a great tournament experience for all:
1. Please note your SITE and TIME. We are using 4 sites listed below and you MUST show up at the proper site at the proper time. We cannot help you if you show up at the wrong site or show up late. We also NEVER change the sites or times without notifying you personally, so the excuse of "Yesterday the website said the other site" does not work...that is basically impossible. Also, Louisville is in the Eastern Time Zone.
2. Doubles will start first both days and many of you will play TWO rounds of doubles on Saturday. Doubles is an 8 game pro set and you will basically be ready play back to back doubles matches. This is the only way to get it done in two days.
3. We do NOT have 60 courts available for the tournament play as many outdoor tournaments do. This means we start early and finish late BOTH DAYS. We do our best to give adequate rest BUT including the doubles in this tournament means many of you WILL play late and then play EARLY again. There is no way around this unless someone wants to invest about $3 million to build some more courts in Louisville without a return on your investment. This is also a TWO DAY event, not 1.5 DAYS. We know several of you have to travel back but we cannot move matches ahead. We have to play well over 500 matches in two days.
4. We do NOT finish the backdraws in Level 3 tournaments. The backdraws will all end at the finals.
5. Please check the note below about parking at Springhurst.
6. Have a great tournament, be nice, and have fun.

PARKING AT
On Saturday & Sunday Springhurst will also be hosting a Field Hockey tournament in our Multi Sport building. This will bring A LOT of people to the club and we will be using our auxilary parking lot for both events. If you pull up and the lot is full, please do not panic ! To reach our extra lot, you pull into the Republic Bank lot and drive straight through until you see Additional Parking. Park and walk towards the club and you will see the path to lead you in. We will have an attendant at the Republic entrance to wave you in. Please do allow a little extra time to park, but the extra lot is directly behind the club. Thanks !

SELECTION PROCESS
The top 32 players applying from each age group will be selected by the Southern Section office, from the latest USTA/Southern standing list -- 28 players from the age group will be selected and up to 4 players from the younger age group that have a top 40 standing and are not in the selected 28. Each group of 32 players selected from each age group will be divided into two draws of 16 each. We will be using the waterfall system to make sure each of the two 16 draws are balanced by strength.
|
SIGNING UP FOR TWO DIVISIONS
Players are allowed to enter two divisions with these guidelines: #1. Players selected to both age divisions they apply for will automatically be selected to the older age division. They would be removed from the other age division. #2. Players not selected to either division would remain on the alternates lists for both divisions but would be obligated to play the division they first get in, from the alt. list. They would be removed from the Alternate list in the other division. #3. Players selected to one age division would be removed from the alternate list of the division they were not selected. #4. Once a player is selected for any one division no changes can be made.
