About Dan Konchan
Dan Konchan was a Central Arizona and Southwest Section ranked junior player from Scottsdale, who was tragically killed in a car accident in 2002 while on his way to school. He was 17 years old.
This tournament has been held in Dan’s memory every year since 2004, with the net proceeds going to the USTA Central Arizona Junior Scholarship Fund.
The Junior Scholarship Fund has helped local juniors in financial need, with travel expenses so that they can compete in tournaments they wouldn't otherwise be able to play. Many juniors have been able to pursue their dream of playing higher level tennis because of opportunities given to them by the Junior Scholarship Fund.
All monies collected, after costs, are donated to the USTA-Central Az Junior Scholarship Fund. Questions about the Junior Scholarship? Visit the USTA-Central AZ website for an application.

DOUBLES PARTNERS
You may email the Tournament Director your name and your doubles partner's name. Only email me CONFIRMED doubles pairings (you and your partner agree to play together).
If you enter online and do not put in your doubles partner's USTA# it WILL NOT match you up. Please help in making the doubles matchups a smooth process. You are only guaranteed to play doubles if you sign up with a partner (and they do not withdraw).

New 10& under Division Test Marketed for Dan K
The original vision of 10& under tennis in the Southwest Section included a progression of two divisions of 10 & unders: 10&under orange then 10&under green. At the time the SWS 10&under format was created, it was determined that there were not enough 10&under players to fill both divisions. In the last two years, the 10&under competitors have grown. For the first time in the SWS, the Dan Konchan Memorial Tournament will offer a 10&under full court/green ball, to test whether the player base can support two divisions.
In order to enter the 10&under full court/green ball division, a player must have fulfilled the 10&under criteria either by earning 20 participation points or, reaching the age of 10 1/2 or, winning four L5 tournaments or higher or, receiving a waiver from the SWS Junior Competition Committee. http://www.southwest.usta.com/Juniors/progression/?intloc=headernavsub&intcmp=Progression
This division is meant to give 10&under players another step to the full court 12s. If your child has not fulfilled the criteria, they should enter 10&under orange ball. If your child is age eligible for the 10&under division but has fulfilled the criteria, they are qualified to enter the new 10 &under green ball division.
The success (if the draw can fill) of the 10&under green ball division will help determine if other tournaments will begin offering this division. If you have any questions, please call the Tournament Director.
