Dear Players,

We are so excited to welcome you to the SECOND Annual Mission Hills Country Club Senior Women’s Grass Court Championships (Super Cat 2!) Most of the Grass Court tournaments are on the East Coast and now we have one on the West Coast. This is the first SUPER Category 2 Grass Court Tournament of its kind and it is on the BEST grass in the country and arguably the world! If you have never played on grass this is your opportunity to do so at a World Class facility, Mission Hills Country Club, Rancho Mirage, and CA, which host many national events.

We will have Women’s events from 30’s to 90’s in 5 year increments. Mixed doubles in combined age “80’s”, “100’s”, “120’s” and “140’s” will also be played. Consolation will be offered for each event, but may be played on hard court if grass is not available. There will be practice courts available, grass and hard, after 12 noon prior to the tournament which you can sign up for $10 per court per hour. Call the Pro Shop at 760.328.5800 to reserve a court. The mixed will be played on grass court and will also have consolation.

Anyone who is a current USTA member, can play the tournament. It is sanctioned by the SCTA and the USTA and is a Category 2 tournament.

The older ages will start early in the week and the younger ages will start at the end of the week through the week-end to accommodate the working participants. Mixed 140 and 120 will start early in the week and the other mixed events will start later in the week. CHECK TOURNAMENT WEBSITE FOR DATES AND TIMES.

You and your guests have access to the Country Club for the week, which includes eating at any of the restaurants, access and special rates playing one of three golf courses and enjoying our Spa. There will be a special discount at the Golf and Tennis Pro Shops! www.missionhills.com

Mission Hills Golf: Call (760) 883-1672 to reserve a Tee Time 24 hours ahead, times are based on availability (after 11 am,) proper clothing and shoes must be worn, please follow all rules of the course and club and the SPECIAL rate is $50 per player. Reference you are with the MHCC Sr Women’s Grass Championships. This is good for May 28th - June 2, 2013.

Tuesday Evening:

Trunk Show of “11” by Venus Williams. Cocktails, beer and wine (no-host bar), Cheese by Fiscalini and bar snacks at the Cafe from at 5:30 to 7:30.

Wednesday Evening:

Sign up for Pastabilities with made to order stations of pasta, pizza, lasagna, salads including grilled vegetables and a desert station. All you can eat for $19.95++. Sign up at the tournament desk for reservations at our main Club House dining room or Call 760-324-9400 and reference “Women’s Grass Court Tournament” to reserve your spot.

Friday Evening:

Player’s dinner will be at the main Club House. Cocktails with a no host bar starting at 6:30 with dinner starting at 7:30. Guests are welcome for $39 per person. Please either sign up at the tournament desk or send us with the number of guests and $39 per person with your entry.

Weather: The end of May and beginning of June lows are mid 65-70 degrees and the average highs are 92-102. Don’t let this deter you as it is DRY heat with 7%-15% humidity which makes the temperature FEEL 10 degrees cooler. Average Rain for this time of year is .05 inches. Grass Courts are 10-25 degrees cooler than a hard court!

Airports: Palm Springs International Airport- 5 miles, Ontario International Airport-80 Miles, John Wayne Airport- 109 miles, LAX-133 miles, Long Beach Airport-128 Miles and San Diego International Airport-124 miles.

Directions: From LA, take Interstate 10 East to Bob Hope Drive and turn right. Turn right onto Dinah Shore Drive and turn Left into Mission Hills Country Club.

Attire: Appropriate tennis attire required, (no T-Shirts.) White is NOT required. WEAR YOUR COLORS!! No Grass Court tennis shoes allowed.
