The Match format for singles is best of three sets with a match tiebreak in lieu of a third set. Doubles will be an 8 game pro set. Open and Challenger players format is single elimination. Novice players format will be first round match loser consolation. All novice players will be guaranteed to have the opportunity to play 2 singles matches. Novice consolation matches will be 6 game pro set. There is a mandatory playoff for third and fourth place in all divisions. If you sign up for a novice singles division and there are no other or only one other entry, we may opt to put you in the challenger division. Same goes for Challenger to Open singles. We will only bump you up one division and/or age group not two and we will never move you down a division or age group in singles. Make sure to check other draws following these parameters if you cannot find the draw that you signed up for.
Green dot and orange ball tournaments may be limited to 4 players or less if the softer ball tournament is held in conjunction with a regular yellow ball tournament. The match format for orange ball is 4 game short sets, no add scoring rr draw format. Green dot ball b and g novice is rr format using a 6 game pro set. Doubles is required of both orange and green ball players.
Please sign up for doubles with a partner before the deadline. You must have your partners usta # to sign up. This # can be found on the norcalusta website. Your partner must also sign up with you or you will not be put into the draw. All doubles players must sign up for doubles in the same age category and division that they signed up for in singles. The tournament will not move you up a division or age category in doubles if there are not enough entrants. Your entry into the doubles is free due to the combined entry fee. If you email the director we will put you on a "looking for a partner" list but cannot guarantee a partner. Please email us at least 1 week before the deadline or we will not be able to attempt to find a partner for you.

Attention Orange and green dot ball players
This is a one day event for the 12s and a 4 to 6 hr event for the 10s. Plan on starting as early as 8am with last matches sometimes going on at 6p. A Round robin or compass draw will be the format depending on the signups. The 10s uses a 60 ft short court and orange ball. It is coed and regular scoring timed 4 game short sets will be used as the format w no add scoring. The 12s will use a 78ft full court with a green dot ball. It is not coed and regular 6 game sets will be the match format with regular scoring. Doubles is mandatory! The usta now enforces a new rule that states that you will not recieve credit for the tournament if you withdraw from doubles for any reason. Doubles is required and you may sign up with a partner or we will pair you up unless there is an odd player out. If you are the odd boy or girl out then you are not required to play doubles and you will receive credit for the tournament. All draws are limited so we shouldnt have an odd man out. Draws are limited so sign up as soon as possible so you do not miss the deadline!! Due to the amount of courts it takes to meet the new rule requirements all of our tournaments will be tournament director selection which means that you have not guaranteed a spot until we choose you. We will be able to accept more entries on tournaments that are not run in conjunction with higher age groups. We will follow usta guidelines for the selection process.

We will update this message 2hrs before the start of all matches on a given tournament day if it is raining. If it is raining after 8p on the night before the tournament, we may start a delay then. Please check this section of the notes to stay up to date on a possible delay. We will not cancel a day before noon due to the rules. We have lights, so plan on playing under them if we experience delays due to rain. The rain hotline is 925 9372582. Please only call this # in case of an emergency or if you are en route to the club and it begins to rain. If you are driving from more than 2 hrs out then you may call the director directly. Attention boys and girls 12s novice green dot applicants!
Hopefully you have read the rules and understand that the grren dot novice 12 and under b and g events have limited draws of only 4 players. There are far more players than 4 signed up. Many players will be turned away. We would like to ask that if you are not accepted into the 12s novice green dot ball event if you would like to enter into the 14s novice or 12s challenger for boys or girls? Unfortunately, with the new rules for green dot ball tournaments, we are not able to accept many 12s novice green dot players due to court constraints. If possible we will place all novice players that do not make the cut in another division. If you would not like to do this, please contact the director at hunterhg@comcast.net and we will happily refund your entry fee.
