Consolation Singles and Doubles A feed-in consolation is automatic in singles, and all players will be expected to play either later on the day they lose, or the next day in the consolation. Singles consolation will use a 10-point Match Tiebreak in lieu of 3rd sets if it turns out that there will be two matches in one day as we do anticipate some warm days at this time in June. Doubles consolation will be for first-match losers only. However, we require teams to notify the tournament desk at the end of their first match if they intend to return the next day for the doubles consolation. A separate draw will be created for those doubles teams who chose to play - and it will be played to completion in single elimination format.
|
|
Tournament Formats As in all USTA National Championships, we will offer Main Draws played to completion with a 3rd/4th playoff. There will be a feed-in consolation for those losing main draw matches through the quarter-finals. There will be an optional doubles consolation for the first-round losers -- those who wish to play must sign up after their first round match is complete. All matches will be best of three tiebreak sets in the Main Draw and feed-in consolation, unless we have large enough draws to require more than one singles match per day. If so, we will use the Match Tiebreak in consolation division.

Practice Sites There are many places to warm up nearby on your way to the club, as we can not guarantee a practice court on-site during the event. However, if there are courts open, players are always welcome to hop on out there and hit prior to their match. Closest other site to WAC is Triunfo Canyon Park - Go northwest approx. 2 miles on Triunfo Canyon Road from WAC. Turn left at the stop light on Tamarack St. Entrance to park is on the left with parking for tennis courts.

Time Conflicts We prefer that players who enter are prepared to play at any time during the day or evening (until 9 pm if necessary). We do understand that many of you are working and wish to get in at least a half-day of work. If possible, we will do our best to put matches late in the day for those who let us know in advance of their possible time conflicts. If you can not play without the time consideration, please let us know and we will not put you into the draw unless we can make that adjustment to your match times. Please make your request in writing via email to the tournament director prior to May 20th (chrisdudeck@gmail.com).

Refund Deadline Sunday, May 26th For those who may need to withdraw for any reason - injury, illness, or time conflict -- please realize that there will be no refunds after May 26th, the online deadline for registration. We will immediately be seeding and making draws so your name will appear if you do not withdraw online. Thank you.
